@undeadcow: could be a memory issue with iPod Touch and the game. The game has yet to be fully optimised so please bare with us Look out for the next beta update in a few days, with a new map and mission type (and introducing an RPG primary weapon), these will add more strategy since you will be up against human insurgents who shoot back! Which could be fun considering if you kill them (not in the head) they'll turn undead and also start attacking the insurgents! Oh and almost forgot... fully destructible maps!
This sounds awesome I signed up but I guess too late to try last beta. Hopefully I'll be able to try the next build
How close can you zoom in? Like compared to the new X-Com game? Also since there are human enemies (insurgents), can you order your soldiers into cover?
Thank you for your interest in signing up as a play tester We're sorry that you were unable to sign-up, we will keep you informed once the new build is out and sign-ups for test flight have resumed. As for ordering the team to cover, we are looking into that or a similar alternative as we are planning to keep the touch controls fairly easy to manage. You can however, hide behind obstacles like cars and buildings since they are programmed as separate map objects that you can also blow up with RPGs You can also pinch to zoom for missions around 2x which is good enough to see the action. The currently selected safe team member will also have a round indicator for easy identification, plus arrows at the edges of the screen to show where your off-screen team members are. There will also be the option to turn individual HUD elements on or off depending on how much additional info a player wants covering the action.
Been following this game, was reading over the info posts again. Four questions: 1) Is this like X Com, where your performance has a global effect and, vice versa, how the world is holding up affects your funds, etc.? 2) Will there be scenarios where there are insurgents and zombies on the same map? If so: 3) Can you use the zombies to your advantage by drawing them to the insurgents? Like with noise or distractions? 4) Can you be stealthy and eliminate insurgents quietly to avoid detection by zombies? --- So excited for this game. Hope we get a release data soon
The beta is a lot of fun, you won't be disappointed by War of the Zombie. I was skeptic but it's a blast to play. There's a lot of nice touches. The developers told me if I disclosed anything they would send zombie hordes after me and although I doubt the credibility of that threat I don't want to take any chances.
I tried to sign up for the beta. Maybe it'll work for the next build. Anway, any game that combines X Com-esque mechanics and zombies already has a money. @undeadcow: maybe you can help me out. I had signed up for another beta (Ricochet) on Testflight. I got the invitation email and accepted, and it said I was part of the team. Yet, when I go the mobile page, it says I have no apps. How do I know when a build gets sent out?
War of the Zombie Trailer Hi guys, here is the first official trailer for War of the Zombie displaying more tactical and strategic layers to the game. Aside from rescuing survivors, hostile country air attacks as well as scavenging are also shown. Retrieval and covert missions are not yet shown here and we may include them in the next video Thanks for viewing!
Thanks Bronxsta To answer your questions: 1) Is this like X Com, where your performance has a global effect and, vice versa, how the world is holding up affects your funds, etc.? The decisions & action you take in War of the Zombie affect the global infection situation as well as diplomatic relations. For the former, the slower you clear outbreaks the faster it will begin to spread to other countries and infect a larger percentage of the human population. For the latter, how well you do in missions and how urgently you attempt them, how often you (recruit instead of) return VIPs, how well you bribe, are all factors that contribute to the dynamically changing diplomatic relations with different countries. 2) Will there be scenarios where there are insurgents and zombies on the same map? There are missions involving neutralising insurgents and recovery of equipment in zones held by insurgents. There may or may not already be some zombies in those zones, but definitely, any human that gets killed and still has a brain will become undead. 3) Can you use the zombies to your advantage by drawing them to the insurgents? Like with noise or distractions? Zombies would be a perfect distraction yes. 4) Can you be stealthy and eliminate insurgents quietly to avoid detection by zombies? The annoying thing about humans with guns is that they fire back at you if within range, so best practice would be for them not to notice you ever.
So where do we send the zombies to? Do watch the new trailer, there are a few stuff added that will be released in testflight in the next build:
Cool, really excited for this game. Still set for a May release? --- How many buildings are enterable? Does height play a factor (set a sniper on a roof, etc.) In this trailer and the videos on Facebook, doesn't seem very tactical. How strategic can you be? Flanking, distractions, stealthy approach, cover fire, etc.? My main concern is the zoomed out display. I know you said you can zoom in. But how close can we get to the action? As much as I'm excited for this game (X-Com/Plague Inc plus zombies is brilliant), seeing just dots moving across the screen is not very appealing
This game looks fantastic, another great zombie game coming. It just doesn't end. Look forward to this one !!
New preview from PocketTactics "The forthcoming War of the Zombie is a bombastic summer blockbuster of a game that cribs its strategic layer from XCOM and its tactical missions from Atom Zombie Smasher: it’s just the iOS game World War Z deserves." --- Facebook update: War of the Zombie has been submitted to Apple! Tentative release date is 27.06.13 (June 27th) if there are no hiccups
