I enjoyed The Alchemist Code and from what I’ve been reading this game is kinda the spiritual successor (a sharpened and more refined Alchemist from the same devs I believe) which is funny since I always thought Alchemist Code “was a pretty solid f2p Final Fantasy Tactics like game “. I really don’t want another game like Raid where it’s just an endless grind wanting you to spend money to get better heroes and power them up....it’s all these games ever are just endless grind wheels that aren’t even that much fun either but you get addicted because of the grind and want to be the best but in the end it starts feeling like work instead of fun if there ever was any to begin with. With these type of games I never feel the need to compete, reroll, or complete a roster. From what I’ve been reading on the WotV Reddit there are a bunch of small gameplay changes and a couple QoL changes from Alchemist but it’s still very much it’s twin. I’ve played a bit of Alchemist Code but not nearly enough to know all of the differences. The visual style of WotV is, in my opinion, much better than the former. I really like the muted color palette and the visuals come off much more “regal.” Overall I thought Alchemist was a good Tactics like game, with deeper gameplay than most gacha games, that I couldn’t fully get into. I downloaded it to take a look but it’s been deleted now.
