Haven't found the shell, but figured out the bananas, rum, and flute. I always mess up the spoiler tag so I'll say...when you find the items you usually get a hint as to how they can be used. Just keep playing around and using in random or hard to reach places.
Really digging the game. It feels like an oblique escape room puzzle game like "The Room" or "Please Don't Touch Anything" dressed itself up in a platformer's clothes just to invite us in and then eat our brains.
Has anyone done the red-hatted character's area yet? I'm stuck at... Spoiler ...getting the last ingredient for the cauldron, the unicorn eye. I see it above the pigeon in the watery piranha area. I assume I need to get the pigeon to fly up to the eye, but he won't budge. I've tried using every item I have (and using the megaphone, the one item that hasn't been used yet, all around him) but he just coos and sits there. I've killed everything on this screen, tried leading the piranha to the bird (he won't go past the last large land mass), and still nothing. I've gone back and spoken to / visited every area on this section of island and can't find anything else. It almost seems bugged but I'm sure there's just something I'm missing.
I'm having a great time so far! It's got charm in spades, great controls, and plenty of meet on its bones. I think I'll be having fun with this for quite a long time TnG is still going strong on my device ever since it released and I'm hoping V.I. Will have the same staying power.
Try using the Spoiler megaphone to talk to the old lady that lives in the tree in the second level. She gives you a letter that you can give to the bird.
Did I just waste an item? As the green character, I gave the Spoiler rum to the pirate captain and he fell asleep. He didn't drop anything / give me anything in return, so I left, and when I returned he was awake again and still calls me stranger.
rhinofinger, THANK YOU! I had used every item I had on every person and then I guess I forgot to talk to her again. To answer your question... Spoiler After the pirate wakes up, he should mention having a hangover or something similar. He wants a something refreshing to feel better...you need to give him a chilled coconut from the vending machine in the village.
LOVING this game and the fact that Donut Games have tried something new. The lack of handholding is fantastic and encourages exploration and experimentation. So great to have these guys back on the App Store. Hopefully we don't have to wait so long for their next one.
The more you play the more you realize what a gem this is. It has some of the platforming that I was initially expecting but the game goes a lot deeper that that. It offers little direction and is a lot of fun trying to figure it all out as you go. Just figured out what do to with the half coconut.
Any tips for the following? - Girl (map, sticker or shades) - Guy (Screwdriver) Not figured out what activating a totem does...
So refreshing to have this kind of quality still being released amongst the sea of lame auto-running platformers on the App Store. Can't wait to spend more time with it.
Thanks for the heads-up. Not at that point where I need them yet, but I do spit coins at regular intervals. I need to stop looking at this forum though. I'm avoiding the spoilers, but at some point I'm going to read something I shouldn't!
Just finished the game. I really enjoyed playing it, but was disappointed at the end. I spent too long at the end grinding for coins, which is a shame as that last grind becomes the final memory of the game, rather than the fun solving the puzzles. There's also little incentive to keep playing after you've finished it once, especially as the game resets your progress as soon as you complete it. Still recommended, but it's not as good as Traps 'n' Gemstones.
Yeah, I found myself in the same boat at the end of the game. There is a secret treasure area that makes that part a lot less grindy if you can find it but I agree the ending could have been better. I enjoyed the game overall though; I don't think I've played anything quite like it before.
I found one secret treasure area, but didn't use it much: Spoiler it was literally an Easter Egg chamber. Is that where you meant?
