My father got one of those VR Headsets from Brookstone for free and wants to give to me. AFAIK, what it does is link with your phone, and allow games on the phone to display on the headset. He didn't bring it over yet, so I don't know for sure, but I believe that it is this one. http://www.brookstone.com/pd/VR-Headset-with-Built-In-Headphones/320195.html?bkeid=compare%7Cmercent%7Cgooglebaseads%7Csearch&bkeid=search%7cgoogle%7cbidword%7cPRODUCT+GROUP%7cc%7c

Are there any decent games that are designed to work with this thing? Can't say I'm currently too motivated to look into this gizmo absent some sort of guidance from you all that it is worth fussing with.

    Thanks.

Mine is just the cheap cardboard one you can get in Tiger. It’s not going to keep you excited for long, but I had a really good few hours playing with it.

    Games I’ve enjoyed are:
    Vanguard V
    InCell VR
    InMind VR
    Speed VR
    VR TunnelRace

There are also various apps which give you 360° films to watch. I use Littlestar for that.

They’re dead easy to use. Just pop the phone into the head set and put it on.

One small complication is that apps need to be calibrated to your headset. Hopefully your headset will come with a QR code which can do it. Otherwise, you can look here: http://www.hypergridbusiness.com/faq/vr-headset-qr-codes/

Well, I definitely think you should take it!
First of all, these things are all over the place and cost between a few dollars for the Google Cardboard and on up for others. It’s important to me to have a switch on mine, makes it easier and better to use. Your dads has headphones built-in, so that’s cool also! You get more immersion into the games that way. As far as the games are concerned, there’s some good ones and a lot of garbage (just like the App Store in general, right?!) to be had. What the heck! You’re getting it for free! Got nothing to lose, right?! Just try it for a short period of time to start. Some folks can get dizzy with it on. Personally, I’m getting more and more into the AR games now myself! And as I said before, there’s a lot of crap, but there are some real gems to be had with these too! I’m having a good time with some of them! Post what you think after giving it a go, will you? :D

I’d be interested to know what gems you’ve found.
