Vivendi must have sold the license, it is now published by Big Fish games.
Probably because vivendi mobile is going under.
Wow...exact same thing that happened with Critter Crunch: got taken off the app store, then returned w/ a different published + lower price. I might get Virtual Villagers - is it pretty good/worth $5?
I say yes
I'd say that is worth $5. I purchased and played it when it was available previously. There is a lot of gameplay and it can be addicting. But be aware it is pretty linear. For example, you don't get a choice on where to place huts, and if I put a villager on the beach they would usually just wander off and start working again! There are a few mini games to play. These can give your villagers extra levels of skills, but by the 10th villager they can get repetitive! I also don't see any replay value in the game. I finished the game and completed it to 98% but have not opened it since. Having said all that, I purchased it at the original price and I have no regrets. I really enjoyed playing. If you are unsure about purchasing, then do a google search as there is a free demo of the PC version available.
This is great. I really wanted this for Christmas and I was worried it was gone.
What if we purchased the game before? I deleted it from my iPod and I want to put it back. Will I be able to download it again? Or will I have to pay again?
Did they pull a Critter Crunch here?
Is this a new game and those who bought it earlier have to buy it again?
edit: istopmotion is too quick for me
Well I think the game was made by another developer and then they sold it to another dev. So, I'd be very surprised if we didn't have to buy it again.
Also, last time I checked this morning, didn't you have like 520 posts? You're going fast, lol
I heard it was great, so I'm glad it's back now that I have my ipod touch
I'm gaining on you, pal!
I think this is another Critter Crunch situation. I think previous purchasers are going to have to buy it again.
Its not like they did this on purpose though to piss people off. The mobile part of vivendi was recently shut down in the activision blizzard merger.
Yes. I know that. And I was not complaining or whining about it. I was just answering the question.
I have no gripe with any of the developers involved. It's unfortunate that Vivendi was shutdown and I have no problem with the re-release of the game, with a different developer at a lower price. Now if it was a Kin Wits style situation THEN I would have a problem with it!
Virtual Villagers back?

The game is still under Big Fish Games Inc.
Does anyone know if owners of the previous game would have a way to get updates via this one?
I merged your thread with this one since it's pretty much the same thing. Sorry for the redundancy.
I dont want to have to buy it again
Lets just hope a good update doesn't come out...
