I say it's wonderful, but people keep bringing it up in other threads so I'm starting this thread to help keep those on topic.

    So...

You've got the same two options on there twice, but whatever.

If you leave a kid alone in a dark room with nothing but video games to play, violence after a while is really not gonna be a big deal, and in a couple rare chances he may shoot frog with a BB gun or something. The kid would have to be totally alienated by his peers, parents, and family to become a serial killer. And the homicidal tendencies probably had little to do with the actual games.

    That's what parents are for.

...well, that's what they're supposed to be for.

Yes, of course it's acceptable. But only if it can only be accessed by the right age groups (i.e - 17+).
Although having said that, I have grown up with exposure to some pretty violent video games/films/media, and I haven't turned out as a kitty-drowning, homo-stabbing, asian-beating, psychopathic, necrobeastialic, kiddy-fiddling, nunchuck wielding fat man with 8gb's of child porn on my iPhone.
    (or have I ?........ ;))

It's never too late to follow your dreams.

    Edit:
I accidently wrote "fondle" instead of "follow." Either way works, I guess.

    Edit 2:
    Kiddy-fiddling:confused:

You may not have heard of it, I think it may only be a UK term.

Ooops, I forgot about that other thread I made . Although, they were stored in jars in a container which I buried underground  (not in the basement).

You missed the drug reference then, or was that intentional because you know a great deal of murderers are either on drugs or have been on drugs before? I suppose it'd ruin your theory a little huh.

Not only that, but the birds in the screenshots look like freakin' Pokemon. Realism this is not, and even if it were... what about the dozens of deer hunting games available? I suppose you're against them too even though many people hunt for sport yet somehow manage to quench the insatiable urge to become a mass-murdering psychopath.

Next you'll be telling me racing games encourage people to pollute the atmosphere.

Seriously, if you can't distinguish between a game and reality then you must be quite supid.

I have a bow myself and I cannot even aim it at a bird, let alone fire it. But I have no problem with this game because it is a GAME and I know in reality i'm not hurting any animals.

But that is not the point of this game, the point is that this game has awesome audio and dynamic graphics.

No you are discussing about bullshit.
Actually with our society we kill thousand of people daily, you also with your car contribute to the production of pollution and the consequence usually are an high number of cancer victim.
Next when you wash your car you waste potable water when around the world people die for the absence of potable water.
Something like the half of the activity that any people do in an ordinary day cause indirectly the death of something, animal or human.
An in this world I've a too see a bunch of people discussing about how is bad to kill a birds in a game,I really can stand this hypocritical discussion, get a life and leave this thread.

What's with the mod censoring of dissenting opinions? What is this, China? Many valid points raised here and it's refreshing to see. It's the 'leave this thread' comments that are truly frightening.

The dev says he never intended to make a violent game and that he is amazed with the reaction. The game is about shooting harmless birds with an arrow and enjoying binaural audio of them dying. Is he kidding? Either this is an everyday activity for the dev or he's living in a bubble, and seeing as to how many years he claims to have spent on this, I'll guess it's the latter.

I'm beginning to think this "game" theme and the way it was advertised was completely intentional to raise exposure and views, as you can see this thread constantly gets bumped to the top of the forum. It's not at the top because it's a 'great game'. If there is a game engine worthy of note here, that took years to develop, it's a shame that they didn't work on the game concept for more than five minutes. There are lessons to be learned here for the devs.

One thing for sure: in this week's barrage of game releases, it's hard to keep a game in the top of the queue, but this dev has managed to do it. We've been had. Congrats! But I won't bump this anymore, because I'd rather see this game thread drop down to page fifty asap.

As they say, there is no bad publicity.

I don't think they mind us having opinions as long as we don't opinion in the game's main topic... probably prefer it if we opinionize all over the lounge.

People really should know their limits going into games. I know mine, which actually is pretty high, but I have been turned off by a game or two. The main argument is that it causes violence, but if you compare that to the countless other things that have caused more violence, such as alcohol, automobiles, and the big one, money. I think those should be protested LONG before gaming should. If you don't like it, turn the game off.

The only ones that I find that people should be warned about ahead of time are the ones with senseless violence, like GTA more or less. That's where you just kill people for no reason whatsoever. Others like Dead Rising, are completely acceptable. A.) You're not killing people. You're killing souless beings. Completely different situation. I can take all the zombies violence you can dish out, but when it comes to dismembering people, theres a limit for me. Wolverine Uncaged edition was so much that I shut it off, which is EXTREMLY rare for me. It was just too many people in such a brutal way. Also, Manhunt seems to target somewhat innocent people in brutal ways just to get a video of it. A bit disturbing in my book. And to my next point B.) Games like Dead Rising have a REASON to kill. It's not just like "Ok just go ahead and kill people." Sure, to a degree it is, but it's for your own self defense, it's not like you want to kill the people. In fact, there's even one dude I felt kinda bad about killing (Clint). So it's all about how it's done.

I work in retail. As soon as I finish work, the first thing on my mind is to ****ing kill someone (figure of speech, you don't have to fear me). All day I've had customers complaining and generally being as thick as hell, and it seriously grinds me down. If I didn't have games to release some of that pent up anger I'd probably end up taking it out on friends or family which obviously would not be a good thing. Having the option to shoot a virtual man in the face probably prevents a lot of people from doing it for real.

Actually, it brings up a really good point. Sometimes, when I'm really mad at someone, instead of just beating the crap outta someone, I take it out on virtual people. It's much more helpful and no one (real) gets hurt in the process.
