unoptimised Greetings, I would really love to play your game, unfortunately on my ipod 2g it is completely unplayable. The fights are nice, the menu works, but when I want to scroll the galaxy view or click on planets it takes ages. Would it be difficult to give us the option of turning off the paralax scrolling on the galaxy map (I think that is the main problem here) and switch off animations in the background? Honestly, it's just a 2d map, there is no reason for it to struggle like this, considering the fact that I can play carnivores ( a 3d PC game) on my ipod just fine. Please optimise this game.
Look at it this way , they did some promoting for you edit : Also take note that mutiple modes is spelt wrongly as well .
CerenPL That is a great Idea, One that we will attempt to provide in the next update. I don't know for the life of me why it does that, and I agree it should run when compared to other games out their on 3g (2nd Gen) I will get to the bottom of it.
Same here I can verify the planet swapping bug as well. Seems to happen whenever I engage a small fleet and leave one or two fighters alive. They end up with my planet, and my fleet!, and I end up with theirs. I really want to love this game, but the bugs are rather limiting ATM. I'd also lime to offer to help with any beta testing and/or CG graphics you need doing. I'm a registered iOS dev and am teaching myself how to write iOS apps ATM, but am also a fairly experienced 3d artist. I would love to help out in making this game the best it could be. Cheers! J^2
I bet you guys are hitting the Fast Forward button when the planet swap occurs in battle. During testing to track this puppy down, I found that to be the cause. It is fixed.
Yay! When do you plan on submitting the new build? And it's good to know I can avoid it for now by just being patient. Thanks. Also, any plans on making the build truly universal with iPad specific GFX? I'm more then happy to help, just for the experience. Cheers! J^2
We hope to submit end of next week, we are attempting to integrate the next chapter along with the bug fixes. Later I will post some details on it, Get ready to meet the Facilitators.
We are attempting to get a update Flash version to showcase the game guys, I wanted to post the link to the current build, and maybe get your opinions on it before I Force Feed it to the rest of the earth! http://www.Gamesare.com/games/stars/vta.html I will have Mochi scoreboards and Newgrounds as well. We hope this will help keep interest in the game while we work on the updates. We value our Dev'orn Warrior game players here so any input is appreciated! NOTE: Only first two races are playable, I am waiting on GFX assets for the font overlay stating last three available in the full version.
Count me in as a new player! I hadn't heard of your game until seeing your post in the Memorial Day Sales thread, but it looks totally worth the original $1.99 you were charging. I'll post feedback once I have time to play it a bit.
Ssylex!, Thanks for the support and I hope you enjoy the game, We are working towards another update currently and look forward to producing the new chapter based content.
Funny how I've yet to try this game despite having it on my ipod for some time now xD I've got so many games I need to play .
So... when's the update coming? Haven't heard any news for some time now... Care to post an situation report?
Started playing this yesterday (my first attempt at a 4x) and it really sucked me in! Before I knew it it was two hours later and I was late for work! Buyer beware, this game is EXTREMELY addictive!!!
So iOS 5 kicked my A.., uh well you know what i mean, Good news is I finally have a working version of VTA submitted to apple for iOS 5, So know my valued iOS 5 users will no longer have to attempt to play the game with a blank screen! Stay tuned for content update, It will be huge, All the small updates we wanted to do are being slammed into one, and will include game play improvements, like Ground battles and city building. It took so long cause the new version is being optimized to run faster and use less memory at any one point. As soon as the art assets hit I will post some screenies for the new areas like ground combat etc. If you update and find the game running well I would greatly appreciate your 5 star rating, to lighten the bloody nose my score endured during my iOS 5 epic fail period! Best Regards, Kisguri Vassal to the Dev'orn High Regent
For those faithful Dev'orn Warriors among you patiently awaiting the new iOS 5 compliant version, you are now rewarded with the update. Original Flavored VTA with iOS 5.0 Compliancy. Same great Flavor no blank screens....
Wow. The video looks awesome. Considering I'm a newbie to the genre... Am I right thinking this looks like a mix between Blue Libra and Starbase Orion? I'm loving the 4x genre, and am wishing there were more titles available. I'll most likely end up buying it, especially since it's been updated to work on iOS 5... But it'd be nice to kind of have an idea of what I'll be getting myself into.
Good question, Basically we have attempted to build a "Casual 4x Strategy", as such the game includes research, colonization/expansion, ship building, Fleet combat and Diplomacy/Trade found in larger more complex 4x games but presented in ours in a more casual easy to pick up and play package. In our game, each planet you own, gives you one command for that planet per turn, SO you can for instance build a ship, generate revenue, move fleets, etc, Depending on what research you unlock determines what options you planets have. Win the game by conquering all enemy planets or through diplomacy convert them to your empire, Lose the game by losing all your planets.
=o) Thank you for the response. I just bought the game. Sadly, don't have enough time to check it out tonight, but tomorrow, Ima be all over this. Pretty excited about it too! =oD
