I find it very missleading that you advertise the game as universal where its cleary not.. Its just a blown up 2x version which ends up like a blurry mess on the ipad. Either make it a proper universal build or dont go there at all.. I find this very odd business you do no matter if the game is good or not.
Sorry to get off topic here but I'm actually quite interested in this MoO thing that you are talking about, care to shine some light on it?
Saucepolicy You can win by means other then battle, it is currently fairly difficult, and I do believe i need to tune it, but I will explain how it works and then maybe you can throw me some ideas. Once you have researched the Envoy you will be able to send a ship to another world and attempt to trade and discuss politics with another race.. Once the ship arrives you can either discuss diplomacy or trade, trade will allow you to swap tech, money and planets. Each successful trade gives you a better inter Empire relationship score, the higher the score the better effective you are at diplomacy To win using diplomacy you must get a race to agree to a alliance, once you have a succeeded in a alliance all of their planets convert to your empire, Declaring war will give you a stat bonus for the first round and weaken the target empire, and Peace treaty prevents the enemy from attacking you for 5 turns. The meter at the bottom of the screen fills up to 100% depending on your standing with that empire. Mr Ugly Indeed you are correct, and I apologize, the game is not Ipad native and it is only a scale up version, I mistaken the need for the game to work on both in a submission notice to mean in my programming to say it works both. I am attempting to correct in the next build. Once again I apologize.
Master of Orion is a famous space strategy PC game; probably the benchmark for 4x games. Master of Orion has never been ported to iOS unfortunately but Ascendancy is a similar game ported on iOS market.
Ascendancy was the game I mentioned in one of my first posts. It's a great 4x game IMO, but much more complex than Vincere Totus Astrum and a very difficult learning curve. I've watched a tutorial video and read all the help for Ascendancy and don't quite get every aspect of how to do things. Vincere Totus Astrum on the other side is easier to get the idea of what to do and how to handle every aspect of the game, and in a few moves you learn how to develop tech, move fighters and such. Therefore, as Kisguri said, Vincere Totus Astrum is a "casual 4x", and I believe that Ascendancy is a "pure-hardcore 4x".As you can imagine, I own both of them and like them a lot, but I use VTA much more than Ascendancy because the places where I usually play are the underground, the bus, etc., so I'm more into short bursts of play than plenty of hours of concentration.
As I made the booboo of selecting universal in my apps creation thinking I was supposed to and that I would be able to identify what it is intended to run on in iTunes connect, I have ended up with a version that indeed runs on iPad but at it's regular 480x320 scaled up. I will stop at nothing to make it run on iPad in it's native version BUT as I looked at the game last night after bug fixing, it Will probably increase file size by 70-80%. Would this be a issue for you guys?
If the quality is there and it properly supports universally then I will reserve a spot for it on my iPod regardless of it's size . Plus after you fix the iPad resolution , you can take your own time to optimize it even further to reduce file size . Theres no hurry
No problem from my side. Of course, the smaller the size the better regarding device's space, but there's no problem having the game go from 27MB to 50-60MB. Most of my space problems come with games which go near 1GB, such as the latest Gameloft titles and Infinity Blade, but not with 50-100MB games
For those playing Would this be a good game to start with if I've never played a 4x game? I love indepth games but by looking at screens of Sins of a Solar Empire I can tell it would be way over my head. I'd like something more casual to see if I like the gameplay
Hi VeganTnT, IMO this is a great 4x to begin with. It has depth, but kept simple enough for newbies such as myself. And it's way more casual than Ascendancy.
I've player the flash game quite a bit and enjoyed it. However, I run on an iPhone 3g with 4.1, if I upgrade further my iPhone becomes unbearably slow. Is there anyway you will look into reducing the 4.2 requirement for installation?
I will attempt to get it tested on devices that have not been upgraded and get back to you, 3g being a 2nd gen devices have had mixed bag results with game play, some work great others have the occasional crash due to running out memory.
Thanks for the quick response. Never played a game like this but the flash version really had me hooked for abit, I can only assume the full one would be even better, but I understand the 3g has been made really obsolete
Funny thing is Sins of a Solar Empire is a really simple game, it's as causal as it gets for the 4x genre.
Echoed. Just play against easy-normal AI on smaller maps and you'll have a 'casual 4x game'. Harder AI and bigger maps are where the 'hardcore' elements start to come into play.
