OK! so, -Conquest Mode -Playing as Human -Reticulans have had one extra planet since start, IE start of game they had two -When you look at the map overview in the info tab you see no green planets but it shows in the text they have one. Can you find a green planet when you scan the actual Galaxy? Thanks for helping me locate this error! -Chris
Nope, I can't find a green planet. The only strange things with the planets (that I've noticed until now) are: 1.- There's a planet with no name (I have a screen capture if it helps). 2.- Sometimes, after savagely attacking a planet (i.e. I'm on level 120 and the other planet is on 60), I get another turn with the same planet, or even a third turn after conquering the planet, before the game says "this planet's turn was used" or something similar. I also experienced one race attacking one of my planets on the other side of where they were, but I guess this can be if you develop "gate" to 100 or something like that.
This could be cool? I don't know if this is really a amazing thing or not but, Looking at the US store in iTunes.... So this was a a powerful boost of motivation for me, Thank you to all the people who give Ilker and I's little 4x game a shot, We will make it worth you while in updates. Got several bugs fixed, and tomorrow will test the new version and submit! Thanks again for the support guys!
Kisguri, got something which might help with the "number of planets" bug: when you trade with another empire, they sometimes offer planets of theirs in exchange. If the race you're trading with agrees to give their last planet in exchange of your money, the planet counter doesn't go down and the race still exists even though they don't have planets! Now in my game I've got two races which show "1" in their planet counter of the galaxy map view, but who don't have any planets at all. UPDATE: the planet counter doesn't decrease when they trade their planets. Now I'm forcing the scarabs to trade their planets. They had 3 and traded 2 with me. Now they have 1 planet left, but the counter still shows 3... I'm going for the last race to see if I can beat them, to see what happens. Anyway, I hope my finding helps with this bug, because I'm sure it has something to do. Also, IMO races shouldn't offer their last planet in exchange of anything when trading... Because they'd be eradicated as soon as the trade ends
I'd be interested in buying this, but mainly playing on iPad. The thing is, the iPad screenshots look like you stretched the graphics vertically (look at the planets, they're ovals instead of circles like in the iPhone shots). Call me picky, but that would just annoy me a lot when playing to notice everything stretched. Any possibility of fixing the iPad graphics?
As I thought, I can't finish the current game Well, as I thought I can't finish the game I'm playing because of the planet counter bug. I have conquered ALL the planets, but since some races haven't had their planet counters set to 0, the AI thinks that those races still exist and therefore expects me to kill them. I can't do anything but start a new game or develop more fighters :-(
Looks like a very good game with an awesome trailer but I'm still not convinced on getting this one . There seem to be a lot of bugs (most of which are getting fixes) but there still seem to be a lot more . I was actually convinced by Virtualboy's review but then after his following posts (like the one above) , I'm on edge again .
JazzFlight It actually only plays in 2x mode on Ipad, In my submission process it looks like It went universal, I have had a lot of users tell me it looks good on the ipad even though it's not running in ipad res. Hope that answers the question, and thanks for you comments and patience as I learn the ropes with my first release. STYJ I hope to earn you support, I get you off the fence, I have quashed most of the bugs mentioned, and I am now working on some improvements for the next update, which I should be submitting tomorrow night, if all goes well with testing, Then we will go into the process of introducing Chapters to the game which will bring more content and twists to the game.
You definitely have my support as one of the better devs that listen to customer support / feedback but game wise , it's almost there Once one of these guys (your other customers) confirm the update is solid , I will gladly purchase it . Love the name as well . I have a question though , it wasn't clear if it was simply 4X or is there like a storyline to it (as of now because I know you just said you'll be introducing Chapters) . I also can't help but notice that you're not typing properly . >.> I guess you're working your ass off that you're so tired , you can't type properly ?
@Dev I've been 'stalking' this game for a long while now (including the upcoming one too) but something just doesn't appeal to me. The races and planet selection somewhat resemble Sins of a Solar Empire on PC but at general gameplay is turn-based + real time tactical combat. Yes this all appeals to me on a portable device but in the end, this isn't SoaSE Anyway, all the sorrow aside , how deep/complex is the research function? Will there be multiple research trees? Do/can you unlock more unique ship types as you play? I've played the flash version of this for a while and noticed that ship upgrades vary from planet to planet. Will there be global ship upgrade bonuses? Can I transport ships to different star systems? Lastly, an unrelated question: will this game studio develop more 4x type games?
STYJ Yes indeed it will always be 4x in the way that during the game you kinda create the story line, New things will be introduced in each chapter that will build upon the galaxy and provide new things to do and see, New races, new enemies, new weapons etc. The first Chapter will be "The Antik Artifacts" The Antik are your traditional long gone super advanced race,In this chapter we will add super powerful artifacts that you will be able to explore and find, very rare but once you have them will provide you a powerful advantage, For instance, endless revenue as a example. I will leak more info on that as we develop. And yes my FrIeNd I am a BiT overWORKEd but you guys responses it make it worth the effort, thanks! gunxsword Basically the iDevice version is a very souped up version of the old Flash game you may have played. Yes you can transfer fleet, their are three ship sizes now, extra weapons systems, etc. We have eliminated the Star portion of the map, and all planets are seen on the main screen. In the flash game only one enemy and this one four opponents. Basically we took what we learned from the flash experiment and built upon it. If you enjoyed the Flash one, this one should blow you away (Humbly stating). Research has six disciplines to pick from, and each time a research project is completed, you will get to pick another one out of three randomly chosen from the six disciplines. We plan on supporting this one for a while, but yes indeed we are interested in expanding and doing another 4x game, something in mind?
Personally I think you should just keep supporting this until you get bored of it or if it's not bringing in enough sales because think about it . Would someone buy two 2 dollar games that have 3 hrs of gameplay or one 2 dollar game that has 6 hr gameplay . I would definitely pick the latter . Of course , when you have one less 4x game on the iOS store , there will be one less competitor . I think even if it is your own game , your games are competing with each other I.e. Cannibalizing each others sale . And if course with lesser 4x games to choose from , if the quality remains , more people will buy your game if they want a 4x game . Even though the profits still go to you , I think just supporting one game fully will be your best bet . When you have multiple games , updates for these games will roll out slower than if you only had one game . And this will keep your customers satisfied .
Wow. This game looks fun and is absolutely beautiful in terms of the graphics. Also that's the most awesome title I've ever seen.
The game's worth every penny To all reading, just tell you that from my point of view this game is great and I would buy it again without any doubt as it is now. Yes, the current version has some bugs and I'm mentioning all the ones I find here so that Kisguri gets them fixed ASAP, but this doesn't mean the game isn't playable. It's very playable in its current state and it has given me the chance of learning how to play and getting used to it. I understand some of you want to wait for an update which fixes the bugs, but as Kisguri says most of the bugs are fixed, I'm pretty sure that next week there will be an update, so I wouldn't be worried about the present and future bugs getting fixed. Also, I'd like to highlight that if you read the thread from page 1, you'll notice that there is a lot of feedback from Kisguri trying to get the bugs fixed, which is something great. I'd love that every developer had the same interest for fixing their games as Kiguri. As an example, there's a game called "Flatspace" which IMO is great, but the developer has completely left the game aside even though it has many bugs (it hasn't been updated for over a year!). I don't think this is going to happen with VTA.
@VirtualBoyFreak , I guess you're right . I mean , like you said , he's said that the bugs has already been ironed out . I could help him to do a little motivation boost with 2 bucks edit : what i thought would be cool could be the different factions / race you choose to start off with have different storylines Like in Guild wars 2 . But you'll end up with the same goal , total universe dominance from that race's point of view . How does that sound ? Or when you choose one race , you suddenly become the good guys and the other 4 are bad guys ?
I absolutely agree with VirtualBoyFreak. The game is very polished and playable but yes, it's not perfect. Every bug I've run into should be easy to address and I can see why, without a dedicated QA team at their disposal, they would slip through into submission. I think you should take our posts in the spirit that they're meant, which is simply making a good game better and not complaining about a "buggy mess." That said, guys, I did find another possible bug. I'm currently playing a game where I'm in the process of wiping out the last AI player. My empire is on the top half of the galaxy, the AI has four planets in the bottom left corner. Every turn, the AI has been attacking one of two colonies I have in the top left of the galaxy, which has been making me think that the edges of the map wrap around for the AI. I cannot attack their planets without moving my fleet through about 15 planets to get to them. Now, it's possible that the AI has spent all of their research on extending the length of their jumps, but it's still an unusual area to attack, as there are much closer planets that aren't protected by a fleet. One last thing-- take a look at the way most iOS apps (email, contacts, etc) implement scrolling, or even the strategy game Highborn as another example. As my empire has been growing your scrolling implementation has beeng getting frustrating, and it's largely because it only accepts movement input as long as you're sliding your finger on the screen, and doesn't seem to take the speed of the swipe into account. In the email app, for instance, if the user swipes, there is some left-over velocity that continues to scroll for a bit after lifting the finger. Swipe faster, it scrolls faster. Tap on the screen while its scrolling and it stops. Another pass on the controls could make the game feel soooo much better.
I would not compare the two. MoO is an exponentially more complex game but that doesn't mean that VTA is any less fun. The basic framework is there, but almost all of the micromanagement is gone. It's closer to Spaceward Ho! with fleet building limited to fighters, frigates, capital ships and colony ships. Each ship type can have a secondary weapon added through research. To your points, that's basically what you're doing already and the background for each race covers a bit of their point of view. The structure of 4X games doesn't easily allow linear storytelling. There are no levels or chapters during which the narrative can be advanced (unlike games like Age of Empires, Starcraft, etc). The general appeal of 4X games is that you write your own story. You conquer the galaxy as you see fit. Trying to layer a meta-story turns the game linear, but there are ways to address some of what you're proposing. For example, Civilization handles the lack of story through the addition of scenarios with specific goals, and those have a bit of story attached. In this game, each race could also have unique bonus goals that would provide an opportunity for limited storytelling. Now, what this game lacks over the hardcore 4X titles is the ability to win by means other than destroying other races. While you can form alliances, they're short-lived by the nature of the game. I don't think it's possible to have peace with every race and win, eventually you'll have to betray your allies and destroy them.
