I played it. It's pretty bad. I mean it's basically (or is!) Tiny Bird, but instead of a bird and hills, it's a Viking ship and waves.
The game should be available again now. Apple approved the game which means there should not be any more crashes. Why they happened in the first place is a little mystery itself, since it was working fine on several devices. Sorry that you feel that way. Yes, the game mechanics are like Tiny Wings. This was our first game so we did not want to try to make a large scale RPG. We decided to make something more simple, with nice art and a good soundtrack. So I'm happy with our product
Ironwood Studios, I am very pleased to see you as a developer, take such quick action in trying to resolve these crash problems. I just gave Vikings Vs Waves a 2nd go, and so far everything has been relatively smooth sailing. The crashes I had experienced before are no longer there. Also, the loading time seems to be shorter. It seems the game is a much smoother to now. So now, when the dragon catches me, he flips the ship in the air and eats you. Looking forward to spending more time on the high seas playing Vikings Vs Waves. Again, thank you for taking the time to read our comments and for responding so quickly with an update.
Game Center achievements don't register. Is that how we fix crashes?I purchased the 6 in 1 bundle. What a ****ing waste.
Hi DonnyDJ76, First off, thanks for making a purchase and supporting us. We really appreciate that. Second, I just opened the app on a new phone, purchased the bundle. Although I did not get the Game Center "pop down", the 'Collector' achievement was correctly registered on my game center. The same goes for the 'Far away from home' achievement. No "pop down", but achievement is still earned. Would you please confirm wether or not you can see the actual achievement earned in the Game Center? We have absolutely nothing to gain from screwing our players over!
Worth playing for the artwork alone. Really brightens up my day. And it's fun trying to get the longboat flying high.
Thank you for such a detailed and polite response. I never played the game before the fix was out. For one of the easier achievements, I believe I've traveled over 5000 meters as I played the first island and my score got up to 5500. I played several times. Some games don't have pop downs but I am going to reinstall again after your response regarding the 5000 meter achievement. Perhaps the score you get has nothing to do with it? Thanks in advance for your future response.
No more crashes! Thanks for the quick update. By the way, other than the way they look, to the other ships have any other value add (e.g. special power ups)? Edit: Found a bug. The dragon was near me as I made a making a well-timed downward slide to escape. But, the dragon caught me underwater and the game hung.
I told the guys to look into why the "pop down" is not happening (It's working on the Android version), but as long as achievements are registered then that's the important part. If you travelled more than 5000 meters you should be automatically be awarded the achievement. The "score" you receive in the end is just the total numbers of meters travelled. Did you look in your Game Center if you have received the achievements? I'll let the guys know about that bug and hopefully they will provide a fix asap. No matter how much we are testing internally, there will always be some situations we are not able to test. Thanks for giving feedback on it The extra ships/characters are purply cosmetic. During early stages of development we were thinking about having different stats, but we decided to keep it casual and not pay-to-win (Since we have leaderboards and achievements). Instead we have them as a way for people to purchase items for supporting us.
This is so very heart warming to hear for me. THIS is how you design a f2p game that is still competitive in a sense. Sadly I just couldn't get into it. Controls just dind't click with me and from the little I have played I was simply not impressed. I will keep it watch listed if some new mechanics and stuff come in (that I may just not have seen cause I didn't get very far but that's jut me, your game has a very good reception besides this so don't feel to upset Just wanted to jump in and even though I do not really get into it your f2p philosophy and integration is perfect, thank you.
