I've submitted TapTunes 2.0 to Apple for review. TapTunes is an alternative way of browsing through and playing back your music, as opposed to the built-in iPod application. This update is a major overhaul to the current 1.1 version of the app. Also, version 2.1 is almost finished. With that version will come animated displays, so you can sit back and watch your music move.

Rather than ramble on about all the new features, I'll just post this video I made today to whet your appetite:

    The Remix (~2min):

Finally, here's an image of the new Circled mode:

TapTunes 2.0 available now -- free for a limited time!

I got an email this morning that TapTunes 2.0 has been approved. As a promo to celebrate the release of the new version, I am offering the app for free for a limited time only before the price goes back up to $2.99.

Make sure to get it while it's free, and as always reviews are appreciated! :)

P.S. The App Store link is in my sig.

Awesome app. With the amazing amount of things that an iPhone can do, I think the fact that it is still an iPod is being neglected quite a bit, when it shouldn't be. The native iPod app is good, but there is room for improvement and that's where apps like this come to play. I love the new interface, it makes looking for albums a lot easier and better looking. Plus, the now playing screen is very useful I find. Apple needs something like the "albums by the same artist" feature that is here. My only complaint is that on an iPhone 3G, the covers load kinda slowly. Could this be fixed somehow in a future update?

Edit: Actually, I've got one small complaint, I think the icon looks bad. Not a big deal to me though.

    Hey illucius,

    Thanks for the positive review.

It seems that a lot of people are having trouble with the slowness of loading albums (I can only guess that this is why I'm getting so many 1 star ratings), so I'll definitely be looking into that some more for future versions.

If anyone on this forum has installed the app or would like to try it out (it's free!), please let me know what your experience is, especially as regards the loading of albums possibly being slow and any other potential "deal breakers." If you post a message here, please also let me know which model iPhone/iPod you have and whether you have a lot of music, etc. As it stands now, I don't have much info to go on, just a handful of 1 star reviews mixed in with the 5 star ones.

As for the icon, I hear ya and appreciate the feedback. I've been working on a new icon tonight, and here's what I've come up with:

Let me know what you think, and I'm completely open to anybody's suggestions.

    Thanks for your help!
