Does anyone know of a free video converter I can use to convert some .divx videos on my computer to an iPod compatible format? All the ones I've ever found always stop halfway through, anyone know one that's fully functional.

'Free Video To iPhone Converter' is what I use.
It's free, nice and simple, no time limits (that I know of), and no apparent loss in quality.

thanks I tried handbrake and converted videos to . mp4 format
but when i added them all to itunes only half were copied onto my ipod, the other half itunes said the format was not compatible. i'm confused, they were all .mp4, does it have to with the codec and shiz you use in handbrake?

maybe the video size is incorrect? iTunes should be able to accept almost any size, but if you transfer them to iPod Touch or iPhone, then the max resolution (so far) is 640x480. I think.

Try Red Kawa's Videora iPod video converters. There's a separate one for each type of device (iPhone, iPhone 3Gs, iPod touch, iPod classic, etc.), although they all have the option in the settings menu to change the type of video output to match your device.

They've also got one for PSP and Apple TV, btw.

I'm using handbrake and am having trouble again. I selected the output format to be .mp4 but it converted to a .m4v and iTunes wouldn't copy it onto my iPod. Then I changed the output format to .avi then back to .mp4 and this time it did convert to .mp4 but it still wouldn't copy. I don't know what codecs are but I tried converting with all 3 options that handbrake gives and none of them work. The resolution is 640x480 too. What's wrong???

How is Super's interface? Is it easy to use?

Yeah. Just remember to use right click to see the menu.

It's a bit clunky on the interface side, but like darkhorse said just right click and you'll be fine... And yes it converts FLV ;)
