Not a good time for me to get it, but I'll definitely purchase it later. I hope it's fun and comes with MFi support. Will keep an eye on it and expect impressions from others. GotW material here? ( ꈍᴗꈍ) Edit: Fyck personal finances, I'm downloading it now. Might come back with impressions later. Edit2: Solid first 30 seconds. You can set bombs a la Bomberman; they also hurt you. I sucked the blast of two of them. Gonna finish having dinner and try it some more afterwards. P.S: I had pasta with ketchup. Initial impressions: No MFi support, or at least Joy-Cons are not supported, which is a shame, but on-screen controls work perfectly. Realized the only Joy-Con button that does anything at all is the [+] button which completely pauses and resumes the game (not like pressing the pause button, more like freezing runtime). Hopefully the dev will add support later. Good thing it's published under the same account as FNAF games; so, hey, in case it flops, it won't be gone from our purchase history too soon! As for gameplay, it made me think a bit of Dungeon of the Endless, since you use an elevator after clearing each floor you're in. In order to clear a floor you need to: 1. Open doors and kill enemies that might appear, using your weapons via dual stick shooter mechanics. 2. Killing enemies grants you some coins that can be spent to unlock some goodies (such as map and teleporter) and you don't even need to worry about pickimg them up, because your Holo-pet will do that for you (I'm glad the default pet is a cat; you may change it for a dog for 50 coins, which in my opinion is not worth it; I love dogs, but cats are far superior in my universe). I didn't pay attention to the turrets mechanics, which explains why I lost in such a mediocre way during my second run, but they need to be powered by energy generators. I'm not sure if coins are also spent to build those. Enemies also drop temporary powerups (speed, shield, attack), as well as crates that unlock weapons after a certain amount is collected. 3. As you explore, you'll come across watering cans that you need to carry to your base, and each floor has three of them scattered around. When you pick up a watering can, enemies will become more aggressive and will try to reach your base in order to destroy a flower that you must protect making use of the aforementioned turrets. While carrying a WC you can't roll nor use your teleporter, because difficulty, right? Enemies will also attack your base even if you're not carrying a WC, so don't forget about the turrets! 4. If you die, you keep your coins, so that you can continue to unlock stuff in later runs. 5. Controls work fine, they're not exceptional but they're completely functional, although a speed-up powerup made me crazy because movement felt erratic, although it might be useful while carrying a watering can (just a guess, I haven't tried that yet). So far, it doesn't offer any layout customization. 6. When you die, you're given a score based on your performance, defined by the amount of enemies killed, doors opened and crates collected. I think coins are also taken into account, but it slips my mind at the moment. As for aesthetics and sound, I'm loving it. I'm a sucker for retro visuals with modern and fluid execution. Definitely a pleasant experience for me. houseofg, troyster and elcrazy like this. Definitely interested, when at first I passed over it after a quick peak thinking the graphics didn’t look to my taste. But that doesn’t matter if the gameplay is great so I’m glad I come back to take a closer look because I’m not quite sure exactly how it works yet but it sounds like mechanically it could be right up my street. They will shoot incoming enemies as they approach. They can really turn the tide for you when you locate the water can, As soon as you grab it a swarm of enemies will come out of the woodwork and those towers will help you deal with the deluge of targets as you attempt to get the watering can back to your Flower! elcrazy and sebgo like this. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 700 553 93 #11 elcrazy, Mar 20, 2024 Sounds good. Somewhere in a town amidst the Amazon jungle. http://www.google.com #12 sebgo, Mar 20, 2024 Last edited: Mar 20, 2024 You set up turrets in designated nodes (yellow-ish box-like things that react when you're close to them, like the one just slightly above the Y button in my screenshot). In order to interact with different elements on the map, you press number 2 when near them; an arrow above objects will prompt you to interact with them. When you interact with a node, you get a list of the coins/energy costs for turrets and generators. To place a turret, you press either left or right on the right analogue stick; to place a generator your press up; to cancel, you press down. Turrets won't work if there's no energy, which is indicated by the yellow number that's at the right side of the screen next to the bolt icon. Turrets and generators cost coins. You can sell turrets in order to recover like ~40% of their original cost; you do so by interacting with them and pressing up on the right analogue stick. Unlike most TD games in which you upgrade turrets separately, you can use the PC in order to make all of them sturdier against attacks and to have them cause more damage. The Y button works for enabling the teleporter which you need to purchase from the PC that's near the flower at the base. Same goes for the map which is activated with the X button. B and A are for setting bombs and rolling, respectively. Rolling costs some energy, a la FromSoftware games. I suggest exploring areas and blasting furniture once you get weapons, since there are crates or coins hidden in them before commiting to carrying the watering cans to the base. At least in the first two floors enemies are easily taken down by just using your base spray weapon (which doesn't damage furniture), so you can use your destructive power in order to collect some resources and unlock stuff rather than killing enemies. I noticed the slugs AI is a bit dumb, as some of them seem to not find a path to the flower and get trapped in corners inside other rooms. Also I noticed slugs popping up behind walls (as seen in attached screenshot) where they're not reachable and neither can they escape from there. The game doesn't make use of the whole screen (I saw someone asked about it) on iPhone 8; there are two thin black bars, about 3 mm each, located at each side of the screen. I hadn't noticed them until I paid close attention to it. This might mean it won't make use of the whole screen on wider (taller?) models. So far, I'm liking it. Can't complain about controls, they're responsive and precise when it comes to aiming; I haven't pressed a single button by mistake so far, even though X/1 and 2/A are so close to the analogue sticks. Love the retro aesthetics and sound. I don't know how much content there is to see with two turret types, a generator, three extra weapons (so far) and four enemy types in the first two floors; I still haven't come across any keys or locked doors. elcrazy likes this. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 700 553 93 #13 elcrazy, Mar 20, 2024 Wow thanks for such a great answer.
