Probably the samurai. Ninjas were more known for deceptiveness than fighting prowess. What we think of as ninjas today are very much myth compared to the reality. Ninjas very rarely even wore the famous "ninja outfit." They tried to blend in and assassinate people, and didn't have super powers that made them invisible, so wearing plain clothes was a lot more pragmatic. That said, as portrayed in the 21st century, ninjas are cooler-looking, can turn invisible, and have amazing acrobatic/fighting prowess, so I can see why people would think a ninja would win.
I like Veggie Samurai best. One of them really doesn't need to "win". It's not like VS devs are taking money out of the pockets of FN devs. People are going to continue to buy FN anyway, VS does not change that at all. VS has some great elements of its own and deserves some success IMO as well. Both games together are 2 bucks people!! Wow, c'mon! Should buy both of them if you don't already have them... That just means that there will be 2 more good devs with some success (well FN devs already have that now i guess), and that will will translate into better games in the future. 2 games. Only 2 bucks people!! Besides, have you seen quantumsquids other stuff they have been working on? Hardly appears to be a "copy" or a "blatent clone"... http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=36630 (i know this is not the game thread but i WANT to know more about those mega veggies!)
To be honest, didn't even know about Veggie Samurai until I read this thread but out of curiosity I bought it to compare to the FN that I already own and love. When I first played FN, I thought it was a bit odd that you couldn't slice the fruit from halves to quarters, and the thing I liked about VS is that you can, but on the other hand, FN is a much nicer experience, and I'm the kind of person that can't play a casual game without unlockables so FN gets the nod there. Like both, hopefully they can incorporate aspects from each other and both be amazing games. Would be happy to have both on my iDevice.
Ninjas still had the ability to fight though, but i'm sure they would've preffered running away. And since they were just ordinary people that decided to train themselves to be assassins, I doubt they had the discipline to be very good at fighting. So yeah, they can fight but not well enough to really beat a samurai unless they ganged up on him.
Yeah, and I don't know if this has any historical precedent, but it's definitely a pervasive idea in pop culture that one samurai will take on several ninjas at once. Then again, it's not like all samurai were amazing swordsmen. There were those that specialized in things like calligraphy as well. So maybe a calligrapher samurai and a low-level ninja would make for a somewhat even match. The more I think about it, this question is kind of like asking if a baseball player or a football player would win in a ping-pong match. But I'm probably taking it way too seriously.
true, not all samurai were excellent swordsmen. but now that i think of it, it may be possible for a samurai to beat maybe 2 or 3 ninjas if they didn't attack all at once. Simply cause samurai prefer to allow the enemy the first strike in order to counter the attack. But I really doubt a group of ninjas would strike one at a time anyway. And yes, the question is sort of ridiculous haha
While we're on topic, a little known fact: shuriken (ninja stars) were not really meant to be weapons first and foremost--they were more advantageous as a distraction. Of course, if they happened to hit someone then the distraction was a particularly effective one but mostly they were used to get people to say, "Oh damn, that ninja is throwing stuff at me, I'd better take cover" and meanwhile the ninja would run away.
Im already tired of this shit you always compare games that you like and talk shit about another same genre game. Like COD MW2 and BattleField BC2 same here Fruit Ninja and Veggie Samurai.
I don't care what other people say that it's a clone, etc etc... We anyway buy both games. We win,and the developers also win.
ya, have you ever seen a shuriken when thrown? it's crazy, you really can't see the thing in flight. the only time you see it is when it hits something, unless you get hit in the eyes, then of course you wouldn't be able to see it.
That resonates a bit. At age 12 we got a bunch of stars from mail order and had an abandonded fence type thing we threw them at. At one point that progressed to throwing them into the middle of a flock of birds chilling on the ground and/or squirrel. We never hit anything. They are tough to use. The little lightweight ones in particular hardly seem capably of inflicting much damage absent a tremendously lucky hit. The heavier ones could well do real damage to the neck or face even with a random hit.
Neither game is better than the other they both have plus and minus points and sit quite happily side by side on my ipod a samurai and a ninja living in harmony or is that zen
