Already loved the first one, but this feels like a completely new game. The new weapons are awesome, the voice acting is too cool and the action is frantic. After a couple of minutes I can safely say: this is the best arcade shooter, I have ever played. Just so awesome. The dev put A LOT of love and effort into this. THANKS!!! You need both thumbs to make your tank go forwards or backwards, so you must cripple your movement in order to shoot? How on earth can that work? Seems to me like a control scheme that can only work on a controller with shoulder buttons. Unless I'm missing something, in which case please do enlighten me, as with a working control scheme I almost certainly would have purchased the "extreme" version. ataloss Well-Known Member Mar 19, 2009 1,569 0 0 英國劍橋 #10 ataloss, Feb 26, 2010 Agreed I picked up the original when it was free some time ago, enjoyed it so much that picking up this one was a no-brainer. A quick question though, it's great that I can play my own music while I play - but, any chance of including the trailer soundtrack in the game? Ouisch Well-Known Member Dec 3, 2009 845 0 0 #11 Ouisch, Feb 26, 2010 Also Peter, thanks for making Vector Tanks Classic free for the first week. A very classy move and much appreciated. If I can ever get my skills halfway decent in the classic version, I guarantee I'll be buying the "extreme" version. (BTW, not complaining about the controls there, complaining about the player) postmanmanman Well-Known Member Feb 14, 2010 230 0 0 #12 postmanmanman, Feb 26, 2010 You're not supposed to move and shoot at the same time, obviously. The controls are excellent when you get a hang of them. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #13 Gabrien, Feb 26, 2010 "Obviously?" Really? I'm sorry, I guess I've just been spoiled by hundreds of other shooters I've played over the years which allow you to move and shoot at the same time. Vector Tanks does let you move and fire at the same time, although using three fingers to do so is awkward for me so I don't play it this way. That said, I find the controls fine and as a long-time player of the original arcade game I LOVE Vector Tanks. Worth learning the unique, tank-like controls. I have not yet downloaded and played the Extreme version so comments above are for Classic only. NotYou Well-Known Member Sep 22, 2008 2,654 20 0 Colorado #17 NotYou, Feb 26, 2010 Holy crap, this game is unrelenting. The first mode I tried was "Rage" and I died literally in about .25 second. Great stuff, though. postmanmanman Well-Known Member Feb 14, 2010 230 0 0 #18 postmanmanman, Feb 26, 2010 Well, maybe you play tank games differently than I do, then. I don't move and shoot when I'm playing tank games because you often can't afford to miss a shot. I suppose you can move and shoot if you used a third finger... but that would be rather unwieldy. PhysicalEd Member Dec 28, 2009 23 0 0 #19 PhysicalEd, Feb 26, 2010 Heck, that trailer was worth $2!! Between that and the Classic for free, I'm buying now... GregB Well-Known Member Sep 4, 2009 2,346 3 38 #20 GregB, Feb 26, 2010 I have the new Classic and the original release under the challingo label. The games are not the same. The Classic has more enemy types and ramps up a tad quicker than the original. The 'can't afford to miss a shot' point above is a good one. Unless you have the rapid fire powerup, the cannon takes several seconds to reload so accuracy matters. I do sometimes keep one finger turning the tank while the other finger taps to fire. This is a strategy I used to use in the arcade version and it works well here. The dev owns and loves the original arcade classic and has really got this right. I'm worried the Extreme may be more than I can handle! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
