I just noticed most of the app store reviews talk about how this is a steal for 99 cents. Then when you look at the price it's not exactly close to 99 cents anymore. I guess that's the app store for ya
Yes the slowdown is definitely noticeable, but it's only when you have it out. I usually walk around with the ice gun out bc movement isn't impaired w that weapon out only at all.
So core gems are handed out in Sector 3. Those levels are basically boss fights so you want to be upgraded pretty well. Once you've upgraded a weapon or armor to the MAX; you can still upgrade it with core slots making the weapon or armor even stronger! Fun stuff so far ## I wonder if the game dev is planning anymore for this game like multiplayer #
Wondered on multiplayer myself since I can see people playing through this game in its entirety in about a week. Still a good game though! Oats - when you are in sector 3, do you see more levels that you can play beyond 1 and 2? I can only play those 2 and ive beaten both sectors 1 and 2 already. I've now been going through each at a full 3 star and trying to get all my accomplishments just to see if more open up, but thats all i got so far. Hopefully you have more and can shed some light. Otherwise, I wonder if the devs plan to add more and we just dont know it yet.
Hmm...now that you mention it, no I cannot advance past level 2 in Sector 3 # I do see 10 levels on the map but it wont let me advance and I've 3 starred everything so far. Maybe they will be unlocked in a future update(?) Edit: the game also caps you off at level 30; so you won't be able to unlock all the skills. Choose wisely ##
Yea, i cant find a way to unlock other areas of sector 3 either. Probably purposeful for future content. handy info on level cap - i may have to do a reset on my guy
Completed the first two levels Sector 1 and when I come back to the game they're reset. I've now played level 1 and 2 three times...
Let me put in a good word for laser rifles as a charging weapon. Yes, they're slow, but once you upgrade them, they pack a punch -- not only in terms of damage, but also knock back. Also, if you line up enemies right, you can clear our large groups in a single shot. Keep in mind that you don't have to charge them fully to knock back enemies, so you can do a series of quick shots to get out of a sticky situation. That said, there are times when you are facing a wall of enemies, and that's when the Gatling gun is godsend. In fact, I'm finding the Laser Rifle/Gatling Gun combo (with the rubber chicken as a melee weapon )to be a lot of fun.
I hear you on this. I get the benefit of charging weapons, but once the Uzi is upgraded and cores are put on it, nothing has touched it in my mind. It CHEWS through enemies so fast. I can clear every room on the last stage of sector 2 3 stars in a few seconds before i even overheat. The Uzi is also awesome against the sector 3 bosses. When i use the Uzi there with the bosses set to 3 stars, I can beat both in less than 30 seconds (the second boss in less than 15). I cant see any weapon that does it that fast without compromising my movement either. I also think that the almighty Gatling kills slower due to my movement and its general power. Sure it doesnt overheat as fast, but since the Uzi kills so quickly, it wont overheat before you clear the room either. Its IMO the best weapon in the game. Here is my setup for the Uzi if it helps: Maxed Uzi w/ power pipe, flux coil, special shell, cooling pipline (all maxed) Skills: Ranger - Cool Down 6/6, Critical Shot 6/6, Strike First 6/6, Sharpshooter 6/6 | Hunter Achilles' Heel 6/6 | Slayer Slaughter Storm 6/6, Vitality 4/6 I've tried to maximize damage first, then cooling/overheating secondarily as its the Uzi's only weak point. With the above setup, my Uzi hardly ever overheats, never need melee, and have only had to change guns for the last 10-15% of health on the first boss in sector 3. Everything else dies sooooooo fast. I've maxed out most weapons - all I have left to max out is the Ion Cannon and Sniper Rifle. I doubt those will hold a candle. Again, my problem with charging weapons is the charge time itself. It makes you move slower, takes too long, and there is no effective way to bring down the charge time reasonably. Simply put, by the time this charges to get off one shot, my Uzi can clear the room. If they had a good way to spec your character to reduce charge time, I would definitely try the charging weapons, but right now they are all too slow.
I get that -- and I'll try the Uzi eventually. But, for me, in a game like this, weapons are less about power or speed and more about gameplay. I'm really enjoying how charging weapons change the rhythm of the game, and when you take out a whole row of enemies in a single shot, it's really satisfying. Not to mention that the knock-back animation is pretty sweet. Again, not saying it's better, just that it's worth a try.
Hi all I contacted the developer about MFI support, they have said this will be considered and that an update is coming end October! So promising I hope, I'm holding off playing until MFI support comes, so I hope it's soon!
Understood. I am fine with the idea of charging weapons and I'd like to change it up too. But they all take a long time to charge and I only find a couple somewhat redeeming. If they had abilities that kept your run speed up while charging or made charging faster, it would go a long way to making them viable. Then it would be a good alternate strategy to the Uzi which is just about killing stuff fast. Especially if they have multiplayer because then it would truly feel like some guys are up close attackers and others are rangers or hit/run type players. Maybe we will see something in the update, but i assume thats for bug squashing, possible Mifi support, and more bosses on sector 3. As a side note - I've upgraded all weapons and have to say that the sniper rifle fully upgraded packs a good punch. I dont find it all that effective on the regular levels, but its nice for boss fights to sit further away and get some strong shots in. Works really nice for the first boss. Still a lot slower than the Uzi, but also safer and provides an alternate play strategy.
I can sense you're a fan of Meltdown, but that game was hardly groundbreaking and calling this a clone is a stretch. Easier to just say it's another generic sci-fi dual stick shooter. Solid execution but it's not bringing anything new to the party. For 99 cents, I have no regrets about the purchase.
