Pretty sure the early release in these selected countries are to let people play and if any, notify them about any imbalanced characters. Some new characters on DotA come out incredibly overpowered as compared to the rest but after a couple of revisions they are balanced out so they are on par with the rest. No worries guys I'm pretty sure these heroes will be balanced (I hope)
yeap.. i think they should balance all heroes as best as they can, and make it paid subscription monthly after the first month (ala WoW) with all heroes unlocked and available to play. That way you would spend some amount monthly, but you know you wouldn't shell out 20 euro for the new best hero, only to lose your value when the new best 20 euro hero arrives in a month. Also, buying and playing with OP heroes dominating weaker ones will get old really fast... the point is the amazing matches, win or lose. Not winning 20 - 0 , nor losing the same. Edit: not to mention like that, you could switch it up and have a change of playstyle with different heroes whenever you wanted, instead of focusing on 1-2
On a side note I'll always be stuck on the SEA server because I've been getting piss poor ping on other servers like Australia. NA and Europe's gna be way worse
Taka and Joule are on the more expensive side as they are the latest two characters introduced into the roster. As of the current update, both of them are fairly balanced with many ways to counter them in both builds and playstyle.
The price of characters in a freemium/rotating character MOBA does not reflect the potential or efficiency of the characters in any way. In almost any MOBA available, it only reflects chronology, as appusan points out above. For the most prominent example, look at LoL, where there is absolutely NO correlation between champion price and power (other than when a newly released champion is overpowered and the patch to nerf them has not been released yet, but that goes both ways. A new champion might be underpowered as well, inverting the issue. Either way, the long-term ambition is always to establish balance and retain the competitive climate). I haven't explored Vainglory extensively yet, but the same seems to hold true.
I've purchased Taka, used him for 5 rounds and I can safely say that he isn't overpowered at all. With adequate awareness and teamwork you can actually take down a Taka rather easily! The pricing is typical, new heroes cost more to purchase, that's all. So far all the heroes seem pretty well balanced with different playstyles countering different heroes
If you're easing yourself into LoL, this game will be pretty similar and would help. However if you're aiming to get into DotA 2, the only useful skill this game will provide is map awareness and last hitting. DotA is typically a long drawn out game with heroes playing different roles. Vainglory heroes primarily seem to be crafted out for dealing damage and killing using a variety of techniques. But DotA has heroes specifically for support, tanking and killing. It's a widely different metagame in my opinion. It's easy to hit the neutral camps in Vainglory at level 1 because a couple of them provide a heal over time buff, but in DotA, if you attempted to neutral at level 1 you're gna die (except for a select number of heroes who can neutral). If you need any help easing into DotA 2 drop me a PM I'll see if I can help you
I think it works on 5S, it supports Metal iirc. It's free though why not just download to try? Edit: Checked the app store, the app is optimised for iPhone 5S.
Taka is NOT balanced at all! He's grossly OP. He doesn't even need any defensive items for a character that's "squishy". I can't believe the devs are going to release this worldwide with a character that's ruining the game. I wouldn't advise anyone to spend one cent on this until it's addressed.
I guess you are feeling this way because you haven't tried to counter-build him and see his effectiveness wear off. Try getting some flare guns and a crucible early instead of going all damage items. Taka heavily relies on burst damage and negating that as much as possible is the key.
You guessed wrong. I've been on both sides, either using him or against him. I've been playing since it was released in Singapore and he's just as bad as Joule, if not worse before she was nerfed. Thankfully the devs didn't listen to the Joule fan boys who would ironically say things like "Just change your build". Insulting everyone's intelligence as if no one who pointed out that she was Overpowered would think to do that.
It's easy to counter Taka. Just shut him down early and he won't get farm and he won't be able to snowball. Played as and against Taka, got shut down early and couldn't do anything for some games and for others I managed to snowball with multiple kills.
Looking forward to trying this, tempted to download on another account but if it comes out in the eu next week anyway I might as well wait. Been a while since I played a good game of this genre without a pc now. Tried a few iphone ones but never kept my attention with most.
Well you can give it a try now to see if you like it. And grab a username you like. However if it's your TA username I doubt anyone would take it
No I don't use that anywhere, that's just what I use as user names and no as an in game name. I have set ones I use I'd tell you but someone will steal them!
^ I understand! No worries. If that's the case, give Vainglory a quick try if you're bored and nab your name. It's pretty simple they just ask for email and a password to make your account.
All of the community generally agreed that Joule was OP on her release, which was also impacted by certain bugs. Given that you are an early player, you should know by now that following rigid builds for all characters never tends to work all the time. I've easily countered most Taka players with the items I suggested above. For Taka to be effective, he needs a good support, without which he can easily fall apart, no matter your build. Taka is no way as OP as Joule used to or even OP at all, you just need to learn to counterbuild.
