I would say the general trend is for the better, and the game can be very different as your skill progresses. Joining the Touch Arcade guild would be one way to avoid toxic strangers And luckily: a) you can mute people and b) they seem to have cracked down on toxic pings noticeably. I'd say give it another shot, even if anything multiplayer will have its trolls. There is a way to report it if something really bad happens: send screenshots or details using their support form. Plus you can thumbs-down people after the match, which is super easy and can lead to bans in the end.

The UI for joining seems to still be pretty awkward, since you must be friends with someone first. Here's what to do: 1. On your chat panel, hit Add Friend at the bottom. 2. Enter any guild member who will accept your request (I will, Adams_Immersive case-sensitive). 3. Wait for them to accept. You won't be notified: just keep checking your Friends list (even the Offline part) over the next day or two to see that person show up. (I'll try to be quick about it!) 4. Tap the friend's name in your list. 5. Tap the first icon in the row at the toplooks like a hanging bannerto join the person's guild. Once you're in, don't forget to wait a couple minutes for guildies to show up before settling for a solo match: people come and go quickly, and even 2 minutes' wait is often enough to see some teammates become available. (But the "available" status indicators are slow and unreliable, and invitations/messages to people who aren't available are not delivered. So don't worry if you seem to be ignoredthe system just needs work.)
Heads-up: this is the 3rd of 4 weekends in a row with summer card events. Get a Third Win between 8pm US eastern Fri and 8pm Sat, and the 3 wins will earn a rare, and epic, and a summer card. Then earn another 3 cards between 8pm Sat and 8pm Sun. (Battle Royale doesn't count.) And I see there's a 1.19.3 patch out: fixes invisible abilities.
Wasn't there originally IAP that unlocked all current and future heroes? How do ou restore purchases or does it automatically?
Five futile searches for Adams_Immersive and I realized that I'm in the wrong region. Is there mayhap a TA guild for the Fractured States of Europa?
Just had a great snowball match: super-high-Elo enemy Reim dominated both the jungle and the lane, helped by Ringo and Ardan. Reim could easily 1-v-3 our entire team even after we hit Level 12, and walk away with plenty of health. And mostly they stayed together so it was often 3-v-1 or 3-v-2 against us. We were getting demolished in kill count and gold. But we would NOT let them have the turret, and I mostly managed to escape with a shred of life when the teamfights went bad, so I could kill minions and keep the turret barrier up. Eventually, after ages spent endlessly killing us off in ones and twos, they did take the first turret, but never touched the second. Meanwhile we just wore their turrets down little by little, mostly with minions alone, and we got the only Kraken of the match. In the end the kill ratio was awful but we had the win! And it wasn't even close. Just goes to show that a team with a ton of kills can still lose if you hold the front line and they don't. I've never heard of VG having an unlock-all IAP. There certainly isn't one now, and I tend to think it wouldn't work well with the economy of a MOBA. Your Vainglory account stores all your stats and possessions. (Heroes, Skins, Rank, Level, Karma, Badges, Guild, Team, Fame, Sunlight, Cards, Essence, Mission progress, Boosts, Glory, ICE, etc.) If you only have a guest account, you'll want to sign up for a real account. Then, sign in on ANY device and all your stuff will be there. Nothing to Restore—it's all automatic when you log in. Ah! I should have mentioned the region. Someone should definitely start TA guilds all around the world! But failing that, maybe you'll find another guild that's a good fit, either on the SEMC forums or in-game.
Games gotten really stale for me since the update. I think that roam is in much worse shape than it was before they changed everything. Can't even kill a fly by yourself now. And since everyone always locks down jungle and Lane first and I get stuck playing roam almost 100% of the time it's just getting really boring.
I've found the new roam to be OK, except that I really like Lyra, and in Casual you can't play her as support because everyone instalocks her for lane! Call me crazy... I like to play supports as support... Ranked seems better. Partying up helps, as usual. But for some reason the matchmaker now doesn't want to let me win more than 1 time in 3 unless I solo...
SEMC only posted 4 specific weekends as Card Party events, but it seems that it's actually EVERY weekend all summerand I know it's true this weekend. So, every weekend, get 3 non-BR wins between 8pm and 8pm, both Fri-Sat and Sat-Sun, and you'll end up with 2 Rares, 2 Epics, and 2 Summer cards each weekend. (P.S. Any else see your Summer Trophy showing Unranked even though your Rank screen shows higher? Looks like a bug.)
No stopping this momentum, is there? I've stopped seeing VG as a simplified MOBA for mobile, experiencing it instead as a mobile-only, mechanically full and very unique MOBA that evolves the formula just a bit. But for the number of heroes available (which is not a concern for an infrequent player for me), it could stand shoulder to shoulder with the HotS:es and LuL:sez of the world.
Very nice updates coming, I'd say! The new Contracts especially. I've never played another MOBA, but VG does seem to have the full depth, just fewer lanes! (Which could easily change anyway.) As for number of heroes, LoL having over 100 seems like a huge weakness (other than a way to milk the whales). Not a strength. I don't see how on earth any newcomer could ever join LoL, because you'd never be able to absorb the unique traits of your opponents. You could play for ages and never see a certain enemy again! So I hope VG never gets to that number of heroes (but eventually I suppose they could).
Just downloaded the new update but am unable to play any kind of game whether it's against bots or PVP. It keeps telling me that my internet has dropped off but it hasn't. It also seems like it's freezing up once I select to enter queue. No timer starts and I'm unable to select any other option
Patch launch day is always rough. The game's solid now, luckily. Except... yesterday I was in Ranked Draft and supposed to get a Skye for a guildmate to swap. And the UI would NOT let me tap Skye! (Neither banned nor taken.) Oh, well, enjoy your Skaarf
Really like the changes to roam now. Can finally kill jungle mobs on your own!! Get the storm guard banner and upgrade that to the crown and you can put out some serious damage. Although I see it getting scaled back next patch because it does seem a little op right now
I'd really like there to be some kind of a gauge or bar that shows where your karma level is at. Was at great karma for months then all the sudden I was down to good karma for the past several days. Got back up to great karma for one match and then played another and went back down to good karma. I know it's based on thumbs up/thumbs down but I'd really like to be able to see where I am on that tilt.
Also karma should have NOTHING to do with how well you play. I came back recently after a six month absence, and naturally I played as well as someone who's been away for half a year will play. After a few games, I actually got a ban warning on account of my poor playing. What kind of Machiavellian, Trumpian world is Vainglory trying to promote here!? Karma should be solely about leaving matches, as everything else is open to abuse.
Game just crashed right back to my home screen right in a crucial part of the match. Needless to say when I was able to get it loaded back up I was dead and the opponents were sealing the deal. First time I've had it crash like that in the 9-10 months I've been playing
