For fans of the game, Vainglory just launched in China and took #1 spot in free apps charts. Giant Interactive, the company promoting it in China went all out all marketing with billboards all over major cities and tournament broadcasts. Vainglory has not been performing well at all in EU/US, not top 100 grossing in any region. But League of Legends also started out as a money loser and grew into the most profitable game on any platform not named Clash of Clans. The $400 million Tencent acquisition cemented it. Can the $25 million investment Vainglory just secured, repeat the history? I just started playing this a little bit and really LOVED the touch controls! It feels much much better than virtual stick. Refreshing game to play every now and then and far and away the best MOBA on mobile. Tencent also proved it is possible to get a top-10 grossing MOBA game on mobile with 王者荣耀, at least in China, I really hope Vainglory can beat it on the charts.
It seems like a big hit to me because of the active forums (from the dev more so than here) and the constant ongoing developmentbut on the other hand, I've never met another human being (in the US) who has ever heard of it! So maybe some additional promotion would be good.
I just love how they add a new hero literally every two months. It really keeps the game fresh. I just cannot stop playing this and hope it never dies. Cannot wait for Black Feather
Very true it's so irritating when you get into team fights and so many people just seem to target the tank for some reason, people are dumb with their targeting quite often and then keep rude spamming wondering what you were doing. I still enjoy the game but sometimes I just have to put my iPad down and stop for a bit if I have a bad run with idiots or rude players.
The TA Guild (tag "Whoa") is still small, only 8! If you're in NA, join us! Add a guild member as a friend and you can join. And to better coordinate guild games, two questions: 1. What times are best for you to play? (For me: 7pm to 1am Eastern time.) 2. What would you use for 3-way voice coordination? (I have no idea what iOS gamers use!) It only takes 2 members online at once to make it a "guild game" and earn us all rewards at season end!
Maybe Discord? I see it mentioned on the VG forums. Or Skype? Would love to play VG some time with actual coordinated teamwork instead of guesswork! Just once for the novelty...
So anybody used Blackfeather yet? I could only get into 1 game yesterday and I sucked so hard with him in the lane. I'd rather use him as support but it's possibly because I was against Adagio and he just kept burning my health down slowly while staying safely out of range of me. I did get a fair few good kills but I just felt like I did terrible and lost the game because I laned as him. I've never done it as melee before
He's more of a jungle or roam. Build life steal and health items. After that go for raw damage. He's like an anti-tank tank assassin
The built-in Hero guide, says Lane, though, so people are bound to do that the most often. Sounds like he may be a kind of "universal" hero, though, able to be used in any role. (Like Joule is, I would say.) Haven't tried him.
Like Adam says it says he's suppose to be lane but I doubt I'll use him there again, the jungle or roam certainly seem easier but he's a bit squishy. Been playing Fortress today instead he's pretty awesome, I like the new changes with roamers too and the change in gold income and from camps as it seems to make everything more fluid.
It's so irritating how hard it is to have great karma it use to be fair and easy but now? Just won 3 games in a row kicking ass as Fortress and at some point got to great karma, 4th game I get an idiot who was deliberately trying to mess our team up by selecting jungle and lane at the same time as me and didn't lock in until seconds to spare but luckily I was quicker and managed to swap and lock in the right one....no idea how an idiot like that is in my league to match with me as he clearly wanted us to lose and his 0 kills reflected that. But yes along with that we come against a set team of 3 and got slaughtered as the guy that insta locked Ardan also sucked, surprise suprise I instantly lose my great karma? It's not even that big of a bonus you get yet you have to be godly and be able to carry a whole team if necessary when you have idiots or you'll lose and get voted down anyway.
Karma is broken. It used to measure "being a good citizen"not AFKing, not being rude, etc. Now it only measures the emotions of your random teammates. If they need a nap, or feel like trolling, they'll false-report you and your Karma is gone. The last 2 times I lost Great Karma, were games where we a) won and b) I carried the team. I never insta-lock, never rage-ping, never multi-ping, and never boss people around. I rarely ping anything other than "on my way." Re that guy trolling you in the character selection screenI have seen a lot more trolling this past week, for whatever reason. I've seen that exact thing only doubled: every character I would soft lock, BOTH my allies would soft lock the same thing. They were intentionally making it impossible to compose a team. I also could trolled for going on 40 minutes when this happened: - The laner AFK'd while we were losing. Never even scratched the enemy turret, and we were two turrets down, with almost no kills against a well-coordinated party of 3. (My team was solo queue.) - This being the latest in a string of AFKs, and the Sinister 7 deadline approaching fast, I didn't feel like wasting more time, so I hit Surrender. Declined. OK, so now I have to play to the end, even if I lose my Sinister 7. So I did, trying my best. I did not abandon. - But we were already being beat and now we were 2v3 on top of that. And my ally (Krul) decided to troll me: he would never leave home base. Didn't AFK, wouldn't accept surrender (I tried twice more, several minutes apart), just walked around base. - The enemy took the remaining 3 turrets, naturally. Surprisingly slowly, though... considering I was the only one fighting them (as support Catherine) and I wasn't killing them. They would gank me as soon as I stepped past my third turret, but they wore the turrets down gradually. They held both minion mines, but never took the kraken. - The Krul just killed incoming minionsso the vain never took damageand then resumed walking back and forth. Refused to accompany me to push, or take a mine, or anything. Would not leave home base for 20 minutes. - And the enemy team trolled me too: they now refused to attack the vain. They'd kill me, then go farm, then come kill me again. Sometimes attack the vain a little... then walk away and let it heal. - Eventually one of them got bored and took the Kraken. My Krul tried to stop it but could not, so we lost finally. I knew they were all 5 trying to make me AFK and lose karma (above and beyond any downvotes they may have given me). But I did not give in. I just wasted massive time. I did report yhe Krul for intentional losing, FWIW. Then came a couple days of everyone drive-by-stealing last-hits in the jungle, and Support with Ironguard Contract rage-pinging me if I (as jungler) came anywhere near them, and junglers rage-pinging me (Support with IGC) if I came anywhere near them. This feels trollish as well. (After a year, I think I've been playing long enough that I shouldn't any longer get assigned teammates who don't understand IGC.)
Ouch that sounds harsh, I've had similar but never to that extent! I do agree though the way karma works should change and people should be grouped on karma and rank and hopefully you'll get less morons. It's hard to get a team together so I pretty much always end up going solo and so many times I'll dominate the game and not get a single thumbs up....
There was a happy ending: after that long troll match I played again, driving the enemy to surrender as soon as they could do so. And I JUST BARELY made my Sinsister 7 Never gonna cut it that close again...
I miss mine quite often because sometimes I just don't get the one one day, but then again I never really use it as I usually end up buying the new heroes with ICE anyway although I'm regretting black feather I don't enjoy him still.
So, is Blackfeather worth the money? I saved up 8,000 glory and I can't decide between buying Blackfeather or saving for Kestrel.
Only really just started, but I'm an addict already. Catherine's my lady. Once I get various self-healing items on her, it feels like I can do anything. In support. I may save up for a more expensive character, but I heard the newer characters like B-feather are more expensive mostly because...they're new. That true?
