I agree there people need to help if there are more in the lane or jungle, sometimes I do not go to the lane early on though for instance if I'm Taka and they call I'll ignore it and keep trying to level up as he's pretty useless there until he gets his level 6 ability.

But luckily lately I'm getting more and more teams where people come to help each other, when I play adaigo I always lane but if I see my jungler fighting I'll rush over to help and am happy to steal minion mines and take hits off the gold mine.

Sometimes I want to let me allies die too but can't because I want to win, the calling me isn't too bad but I get irritated when I'm in the jungle and they steal kills from me that makes me want them to die horribly....

Ha ha--people can be really irritating with the signals. Although I do think it's a neat way to communicate quickly!

Some people will constantly send signals, and always bad ideas--so you learn to ignore them. Like the people who ALWAYS signal GO right where they die. As though they want you to exact revenge or something... but you won't kill their killers (usually a team-up), you'll just die too, for nothing!

And there are micromanagers! Like those who signal AVOID and then 20 feet closer they signal GO. Because they think you are kiting a tiny bit closer to the turret than they'd personally choose. Or they signal AVOID on you, and GO on home base, because they think you need health more than you need farming. For a total newbie, that could all be useful advice, except a newbie won't understand anyway. When they signal such minor adjustments constantly, you wonder how they have time to play, themselves! (Related: people who signal GO on every minion mine the instant it is stolen. As though you didn't notice.)

From what I understand, no. iPhone version requires an A7 or higher CPU. But hey, it's free, so you can always try it out and delete it if it doesn't run well.

As for matching, as I understand it, karma level doesn't do much besides keep you away from people with really lousy karma. The primary matchmaking criterion is your skill tier, but if there isn't a good match with people in your skill tier, it's going to fill up the match with newbs. I suspect the better you are, the more likely you are to get teamed up with a greenhorn, hence why it's not to hard to get to "Hotness" tier solo queueing, but really hard to keep it.

I also suspect that it's easier to climb the lower skill ranks as a selfish kill farmer than as the kind of person who sacrifices himself to get the gold mine or dies trying to rescue an ally. So it cultivates people with dueling skills, not team skills.

I agree with the ranking bit, I'm often found sacrificing myself for the good of the team but still always have many more kills than deaths but mainly seem to stick around pretty good or decent-ish still!

I don't get why as today I won 5 games in a row top of the kills and least deaths in each but I rarely change rank...although honestly I just play for fun and couldn't care less what it's at anyway.

Don't quote me, but I THINK kills, deaths, and assists to not affect your rank. Only wins/losses. (So that playing for the victory, not the stats, is the best way to change your rank.)

Ranks seem to change very slowly, though. Maybe because your recent successes are still being averaged with older matches.

A dev did give me a list of what affects it but I'll have to dig through my emails, I use to talk to one of the people that runs the support daily.

Kills was actually in there but he said it counted on who you killed too which made me think of you kill people on higher ranks it helps to go up and if you die to noobs maybe it drops a bit? Although that would seem unfair for when you get ganked by all 3 and the noob could get the last hit.

Either way as I said I don't really care for ranks and never have in any game, I just like playing and having fun and of course you have the most fun when you win. I'm almost solely playing adaigo, skarrf and taka at the moment.

I think it's so unfair that skarrfs fireball is blocked by petals seeds though as those are easy to spam and build walls with.

I wouldn't say I'm a pro but I usually do very well, I've played since release and play a fair bit each day as I'm addicted. Although sadly work stops me playing as much as I'd like.

Unfortunately though I'm on the EU server, I wish you were on mine though or they added cross server play as it would be nice to talk tactics and play with a set team of 3

I think that's kind of a rock, paper, scissors thing. For targeting, Petal's seeds are a nuisance for everybody, but for Adagio they're easy energy regen, for SAW easy money, for Glaive easy lifesteal.

Skaarf does feel like he needs a buff, though. Apart from the sneaky way he stacks up his DoT, he just doesn't seem very effective. His ult looks scary, but rarely seems to kill anybody.

Speaking of DoTs, I just noticed that Taka got a buff, not that he needed one. DoTs no longer show a "blood trail" of where he runs when he vanishes. Lame.

That's a good change for Taka if they did do that, I play him and do great with him and it use to annoy me.

As for Skarrf he is awesome I do great with him in a lot of games, people just need to learn how to use him. I can easily top kills with skarrf but you do have to play sneaky as he isn't an in your face killer...5 points into fireball and the sludge. I use to save my big fire breath skill it now I use it constantly as with clockwork it's ready pretty quickly. Clears enemies quickly and the sludge helps you hold spots.

One trick I don't see many using is if you didn't sludge and then fireball you can fireball and as your chasing chuck the sludge down in front of the enemy running off and it will ignite if they are on fire, killed so many people doing that.

The ranks (whether based on wins, kills, or probably some combination) use an Elo ranking system:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

So yes, if you succeed against someone better than you, BOTH of your ranks are affected more severely than if the better player is the victor.

(I remember Yahoo Reversi using that kind of rank system AGES ago!)

Good to know. And I'm just starting to get into Petal :)

I love the graphics, the cartoon style works, lot like in Diablo three.

I never use to like petal but I've played her a couple of times recently and she is good, it just feels like more work sometimes when I'm building a little nest of seeds in areas I run back to or are defending when id rather be fighting. Of course I put them down while fighting too, she's good for taking the gold mine alone which is never try as skarrf.

I'm not going as I'm in the EU but anyone going to Pax South? Guessing Eli or someone maybe?

I seen that Vainglory will have the new hero there playable on an internal build and that it'll be a protector class like Adaigo and Catherine which is cool as I was hoping it would be a support role.

New hero coming is a protector called Ardan for angone not keeping an eye on things. Sounds like he's built to protect his allies psychically by getting in the way.

They are releasing those back stories again which kind of hint at abilities from what he does in those but it's hard to know until he's out. Has a huge heavy mechanical suit of armour with a power fist and cannon arm from what is described.

Also described it as getting very heated when he is moving so that it burns people who touch him so I'm wondering if that's his heroic? Also another attack he did sounded like a team push back.

But like I said all speculation he could have lasers from his eyes and launch bananas at his enemies for all I know.

Sounds interesting. Even with so many characters now, they're still finding new roles and play styles.

Meanwhile, I haven't even played most of the heroes they already have! (I stick with about two at a time to get practice.)

They are making 3 heroes currently but he is the only one with any info on him really, he will be playable at pax South which is now or in a few days I think? So he can't be far off ready.

I usually stick to the same 4/5 heroes depending who my allies pick but sometimes go for someone else to change it up.

And they did say over a week ago that the next update would be soon, and would have a new hero.

So he'll probably be the only one in the next update, but it shouldn't be long to wait.

I hope not, I played Skarrf constantly for 2 weeks I think when he was released. It's always nice to have something new.

Wondering if they are ever going to announce working on a new map though. I see new maps and 5v5 the most requested rather than more heroes at the moment.
