Thanks, guys! What happened to me was in-between: I started the Training mission and messed around for a minute, and then it just suddenly said I won. I hadn't found all 4 areas or anything, but it let me pass. I'll "give back" with some newbie info that I wish was in the Tutorials: - What is Crystal energy? It's the power of your special abilities. - How can you pan the camera around? Swipe over the mini-map. - How do you transmit Go, Avoid, OMW? Tap them, then tap a place on the map--they don't work without a location. Next, I will research my last big newbie question: does moving matter in combat? Can you dodge? I find myself sitting and just watching the fight, not able to tell if moving does anything other than lose my current target and interrupt my attacks. (Though I do know it's useful for fleeing or getting some distance to shoot ranged attacks from.)
You can move out of the range of enemy auto attacks, but I wouldn't really call it dodging, and since it interrupts your own attacks, you aren't going to come out ahead. I wouldn't think of it as dodging so much as positioning yourself so your specials are more effective and your enemies less. A lot of specials have a charge up time and telegraph the area they'll hit, so if you're fast, you can move out of range. If you're trying to escape from Joule, for example, moving at oblique angles will help you avoid her lightning strikes. On the other hand, there's no way to avoid anything Ringo can throw at you.
It's good that you don't have to "micro manage". When there are several heroes and minions involved in a fight, with twin characters that look the same, I can't see if I am being attacked or who is attacking me. That's the part of the game that feels lacking control to me. Late game lane can occasionally turn into super smash brothers. You just spam abilities and hope for the best. Or run away fast.
Crystal energy is the amount of energy you have to use for abilities so recharge items help you be able to use them much more. Crystal power is great for some heroes not so much for others, if you view the hero pages at the shop you can click on each ability and it will say weapon ratio and crystal ratio, this means the ability will be boosted by that percentage of your crystal or weapon power. But seeing recommended purchases for each hero gives you an idea of what to get but it's still best to customise. To transmit go, hold and coming you press them and then where you are in your area of if you want it to be somewhere else you can click on the mini map to place an icon there. For eg I use it to tell people to get the kraken or avoid an area filled with heroes or the best is telling my allies where to run so I can come and interrupt their attack. As for moving other than keeping ir closing distance it won't affect some things, but you can dodge certain things such as Joules abilities, Kruls sword throw and adaigos blast. Once you learn the abilities you'll know what you can and can't dodge and how to do it. For instance I play Krul a lot and save my sword for runners or when they are about to trigger their ability as some charge or have a duration I use my sword to stun and it stops their ability and they can't do anything about it. Combat can be very tactful you'll get better with practice. I didn't answer some things as I'm not quite sure what you were asking.
Yeah, if Vainglory could take two things from Fates Forever, I would like to see faster movement/combat speeds and a bit more control over characters abilities. Fates Forever keeps most skills separate from regular combat, meaning that when you activate an ability, it doesn't simply hit whoever you have targeted but instead can be directed at other targets if the player chooses. This makes for more interesting combat as I can take on regular units or buildings and use skills to keep a player at bay or vise versa. It is a system well suited for IPads, but I can see how it may be more difficult to utilize on IPhones which may go to explain why they never branched out to smaller devices.
There are a few abilities like you say but not too many, I often used Kruls sword on someone I'm not fighting or blast joules laser at people fb they group. But I think mainly it's been done the way it has if for eg you wanted to use Ringo's cripple shot on someone else the ability would have to be selectable meaning you have to click it then click your target even if your fighting someone. While at the moment all you need to do is press the button.
At first I didn't like the slower speed but now I'm glad it has that. It keeps things from getting too hectic and gives you a better chance to analyze rather than just jumping in and getting crushed.
Movement speed wise, I think it's fine because the map isn't that big. Any faster and games would be ridiculously short because you'd be able to travel the map pretty quickly. There're always boots if you want to go faster and they give neat bonuses too
I guess it depends on what you consider ridiculously short, Fates Forever has combat and movement speeds that are significantly higher than Vainglorys and the average match is still 10 minutes or so, with many going over. Vainglory is obviously meant to be a slower paced game, which is more in line with PC MOBAs. However, currently it simply is just too slow for my tastes, to the point where it takes a while just to get into a fight and then health is so high on everything the combat lasts longer than is really necessary. I don't expect Vainglory to ever be as fast paced as Fates Forever, as the two games have different styles, but it would be nice if fights felt more dynamic and less of a grind. This may well get addressed as movement has obviously been tweaked before, as evident with movement animations currently not syncing with movement speeds.
Just started playing this, and im liking it so far. I dont think the movement is too slow since the map's pretty small. What i dont like about this game is the amount of scaling you get when you complete items. Get 1 full item ahead of your enemy and no one can 1v1 you anymore, or even 2v1 if you micro well and play smart. The snowballing needs to slow down in vainglory.
Should I get this game how dies it compare to Lol and Dota?I also heard that it was featured by apple and only supports A7 and above are the graphics that good?
It's free to try so check it out. It's a simplified version of Dota and LoL, it strives to be similar while cutting back on complexity to best be accessible on a mobile device. It has some issues, both technical and mechanical, but it is also a very recent release and hopefully will see some support.
Is it necessary to have a ranged carry in Vainglory? I've played a few games without them and we were doing fine. The important thing that i see is to be there when an ally sees an enemy so you get the upper hand in kill trades.
I've had it happen but I think it's generally harder. You kind of want someone who can keep people at a distance and still attack or defend. They're great support and can kill fleeing enemies easier. So you can do without but it just changes up things so you need more time to close gaps between enemies. Probably heavy investment in speed.
Ah I'm in Singapore and I'm referring to the underground tunnels our transport takes which has slightly weaker signal compared to above ground
I wasted 10$ iap for ICE, but it was worth it because Taka is a BEAST. I can triple kill all enemy heroes it's s awesome lol. 10$ worth it hope this game keeps getting updated for life. Anyways add me again lol @Prettyboyy
