I have an iPod Touch and want to buy an iPhone. But my friend recommend me to buy a device named "Apple Peel 520" ( http://www.tinydeal.com/yosion-apple-peel-520-ipod-touch-to-iphone-convertor-px8838--p-13367.html )which can convert the iPod Touch to an iPhone. Then I have no need to spend more money to buy a new iPhone. It sounds amazing, but I doubt that if it is worth. What do you think about it? Did anyone ever hear about or use that?
It also states under that your iPod needs to be jailbroken. Fishy fishy. And genuine, it's a word *some* people slap onto products to coax people into buying them, although they don't work.
Furthermore, nothing in the description says that you can use the added phone connection for the apps. From the description they provide about what's possible with that addon, there's no information letting you think it can do that, even with the jailbreak...
I dont think thats real. You friend might be misinformed or mistaken. If there was such a device, people are not nuts here, to talk about so many gadgets around and not go for such product in the first place. I think that device is nothing more than a lie.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/28/ipod-touch-turned-into-a-phone-using-yosions-apple-peel-520/ It's real and it works, but don't expect an iPhone experience from it. It gives you basic calling and texting capabilites using jailbroken apps. You will still need a cell plan from some sim card capable carrier. I would say it's not really worth it over a real iPhone.
No, it is a real device. It comes from China and it works. The real question is, can you rely on your phone service being based on, essentially, a hack? So, for example, if Apple updates their software, you may not be able to update without losing your phone service, since you might lose your jailbreak.
