http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-13801271 Hooray! Billions more dollars spent and, if we're really lucky, another million civilian deaths! Go freedom!
Haha. I usually try and ignore this kind of thing, but it's beginning to turn into a Team America plotline. So many people were unhappy with the way things were handled after 9/11 and the invasions in the Middle-East that the last thing you'd expect the public want them to do is start up a new manhunt and throw more fuel onto the fire. It's only going to lead to more Koran-burning psychos in the long run.
Exactly dude... this is the last thing I would have expected from this administration. I guess his numbers were just so bad that he had to resort to starting a good ol American Uproar just to group the public back together. Ugh...
Another great thing is we can complain about it without having to leave! I prefer that, because as shitty as this god damn country is, things could be a lot worse. Then again things could be better. I don't know. I agree with Hodapp at this point though. I am so frustrated with our government.
My Take - If the Obama administration leaves this guy alone and let's him build up Al Queda again, what do you think the chances are of them attempting, and eventually succeeding, another attack on our soil? I'd wager it's probably pretty high, especially now that we've finally got Bin Laden. So while I agree with most people: The people of the US don't want more wars, killing people is bad, etc... I also think that if the administration were to do nothing, and something were to happen, all those people who were against him going after this new guy would be the ones to start screaming that Obama didn't protect them. We Americans, as I'm sure we all know, very much want our cake and to eat it too. Doing nothing probably means another attack here at some point in the future but continuing to "knock them out" keeps them busy away from America. The former keeps America happy now, but pisses them off later. The latter pisses America off now, but keeps them happy in the long run (by keeping Al Queda away from here). Which way would you go? It's a pretty freaking hard decision to make, I'd think. So I don't agree with this idea of going after more people, I can also understand why they're doing it (right or wrong). For people to make a blanket statement like "America Sucks" or "F**K America" seems pretty crazy, IMO. There's a lot more to these decisions then just "Oh, we should go kill another guy. That'd be fun!" For all we know, the Obama administration has more information than we're privy too. Maybe he's threatened to assassinate Obama himself (unlikely, but go with me here). I don't know, you don't know, and that's the point. Making a blanket judgement on an entire country, when you don't have even close to all of the facts, is wrong and just as bad for the liveliness of this country as us continuing our trend of going out to war every two weeks. Also remember - the choices and actions we make today have huge consequences on the world of tomorrow. So while people in power may make tough decisions that you don't agree with today does not always mean that's the wrong decision for today, tomorrow, or both. We, as America, elected the people who make these decisions (or the ones who hire those who make these decisions) into office. Isn't that our way, as a country, of saying "We trust you to make decisions that are right for today, and tomorrow"? If you don't trust the people in power to make the right decisions, do something about. Speak with your vote, write letters, rally, etc etc. If you (like me) voted for someone who did not get elected then obviously the majority of America has a different view then you and does trust the person elected. It sucks when that happens, sure, but it's our job as a person to stand behind those who have sworn to protect us. If we continue to divide ourselves with political and philosophical lines we'll crumble in no time (just look at Rome, history never lies). Sorry if I went all patriotic or what not. I'm just sick of people throwing out "I hate America", "America Sucks", and "F**k America" lines all the time. It solves absolutely nothing and is just a knee jerk reaction to something they don't agree with. If you (just a general "you", no one in particular) really feel that way, find a better way to express it and, once again, do something about it. America's great because we can say things like that. It's also great because we as a people have the power to change things.
Of course the Obama admin wants to talk about this. It's that or talk about real problems that, at this point, we are basically powerless to do anything about. Well, unless we get all the corrupt, lobby-controlled Washington insiders out of office and replace them with...? Yep, we're ****ed.

If I were looking from a completely neutral point of view, I'd say do nothing. Al Queda's terrorist attacks kill far less people than the U.S invasions of the Middle East. Stick with the greater good, let more innocent people live. Of course for someone living in America (or running it) that plan sounds terrible, so it's not always that simple.
