Hello People! I am giving my son my 32 Gig Ipod touch 2cg gen, and getting a 64 gig 3rd gen. Can I just plug in the 3rdgen, and tell it to restore, and all my games music apps and data will appear on the new device? And to move the 2cd gen to my son, I just plug it in while his itunes account is logged in and it will wipe it ? or should I wipe the data from it first? Thanks for the help Rixx
You're data will be replaced. Not all of it, though, just the data from your most recent back-up. I switched iPods after one died on me earlier this year. I surprisingly found my school log-in code still in the notes app. As for your son's ipod, if he syncs with his own account, it'll completely wipe his ipod.
I bought a 3GS for my friend and she wanted to test it out, so I restored my iPhone backup file to her 3GS and everything is copied there, all game data, pictures, movies, songs, everything. I'm getting my 3GS soon and will do just that again.
I just said the exact opposite of that. If you're synching a new iPod to your old account, everything will be replaced to the way it was before.
