I guess it's going to be a big day for cars tomorrow, with A8 and Smash Bandits heading the week's releases.
Sure does. Definately up for A8. I liked Smash Cops to some degree, but was never a huge fan of the controls. That said Smash Bandits looks like a big jump in gameplay so I'll be anxious to see how it plays.
The TA preview kind of gave the impression that it may be a full game unlock IAP, but I'm not sure. EDIT: Nevermind, just read Rip73's impressions of the soft launch in which he says it didn't seem grindy and he couldn't but IAPs so it must not be an unlock. So at least from his early impressions, it doesn't sound too bad. Of course, that was a soft launch so who knows what the final product will bring.
Anyone interested in the NFL will be interested in the fact that the new madden is out in Canada. It's freemium, it will probably be the same pricing model as the upcoming FIFA 14. So everyone interested in either game will be interested in how it turns out. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=201158
Not a good week for me, since I am horrible at racing games on IOS. Well, might give it another go with these high quality releases.
I mean its so cheap i'll probably get the latest version of Asphalt BUT its becoming a bit like a Madden game for me, eg a new version every year (or every 6 months it seems ?). Hopefully i'll notice a big difference from the last version but i must admit i really enjoyed playing Asphalt 7
I tried out Asphalt 7 when it came out and walked away with a resounding meh. Number 8 I actually enjoyed quite a bit. I don't remember much of 7, but the one coming out tonight is actually fantastic.
I'll give 8 a go i'm sure but hopefully it'll be a fair bit different from 7. Not keen on 'drifting' but we'll see. Does look very impressive
I mentioned this in the thread, but if nothing else the music has absolutely won me over. It's picked out really well and sounds great to the point where I left it playing while doing other things. the drifting is really easy to do. It's handled sort of like a "toggle" and you don't actually have to do anything to maintain it. Just tap the nitro and you'll be back to driving normally; or straighten the car and tap the brakes once. I'll admit the music might be biasing me a bit.
Yeah see being 'old' i'm not bothered by music as i come from a generation of basic sound effects and quite often no music in a game from the 80's. So its a 'nice to have' but not a biggie for me. Plus its probably dancey/trance type music which sounds like when a lorrys reversing ! But as its 99p instead of being free i'm hoping it'll be 'light' on IAP's. I moan at Gameloft when they do freemium games, so when its a paid game i want to support that as i hope it does well so they realise they can charge for games, not just make them freemium.
There's actually three categories of music and you can change the type in the pause menu at any time: Bass, Rock and Electronic. They're quite distinct and quality stuff. I've even heard of most of the artists, so it seems like the songs are proper licensed stuff. The IAPs are quite well implemented. You get a currency for wins / losses / doing in-race objectives and of course you can buy more of it. There are also "car packs" that will unlock ~5 cars at a time straight away without having to buy them with the normal currency. None of the IAPs are active as of yet, so I can't see any of the prices (or pack details) but there doesn't seem to be "buy this car for $1" deal. Seems to me like they got it right. As far as currency goes, you get a decent amount for winning and less for losing. Chances are you'll be replaying the races to unlock race-specific objectives anyway, like I have been, and I haven't run into having to grind currency. Hell, some races have moved up a class and I'm still winning them with the first car I purchased (the second car I own). I'm still fairly early through it though, things might change later in the career mode but I already have the coinage to buy a new car from 2 classes up in case a race forces me to upgrade.
Sounds good, as other people have mentioned i think i better start clearing some space for it ! Doesnt help i'm a self-confessed' horder of iOS apps! 64 gig device but still only 600 meg free !
