i saw bunch online when i was testing.. i even formed parties with other testers and grinded some laggy monsters.. and one guy lured some STRONG mob on the party i was in, everyone run in different directions, and then the party got disbanded...

everyone seemed like gave up testing at about 4-5th day lol..

And I apologize for not disclosing my bias from the very beginning. Yes, I am the dev of Bedlam and I like playing my own game and I consider it the first full featured MMORPG in the AppStore. I think full-featured means real-time action and a basic level of role-playing complexity (we are way above that level). But if you think full-featured means animated attacks, then IMO will be the first for you.

I tested the whole period ^_^ and i know a couple of others that did. Some just pretended to "test" the game, probably played 10 mins, or maybe none, and just claimed their gift cards. Oh what a cruel world

And I also want to make it very clear that unlike most other MMO's for iPhone, mine doesn't have a subscription or in-game pricing model, so I really don't expect to make much of a profit from it. The only reason I'm promoting is I want more people to play it.

And how do you know there is a subscription fee or in-game pricing model? Nothing like that has been announced so your assumptions are pretty much wrong right now. Also, you are promoting your game in another game's thread. That is called Hijacking and I'm pretty sure it's against the rules. If you want more people to play it make an advertising campaign or make your own thread.

Back to IMO, why should I envy a game that's not even in the store yet? it sounds like they had the same problem with beta testing that I had -- many people enroll in betas only to get a sneak preview. The road to a smoothly running MMORPG is very long.

You can't expect a text based "fully-featured mmorpg" to get as much attention as a real MMORPG according to todays standards, that's why it's probably tougher for you.

Remember, all I said was I had an issue with IMO's claim to be the first full-featured MMORPG. I'm willing to agree right now that, when it makes it to the AppStore, it will be the first cutest one.

Remember what you said. You claimed your game to be the first fully-featured MMORPG according to you. If today standards considered text-based mmorpgs as fully-featured then there are many many many more that come before you. One who compares the most to your game is CozyQuest. And then theres the bizillion thousands of text "MMORPGS" so you should claim the spot "Fully-featured MMORPG" number 133,656,789,234,345. Know the facts.

According to the world, TODAY, IMO is the first fully-featured MMORPG coming to the IPhone (not counting Anrufen since that is not really fully-featured) unless of course you like living in denial and in the past.

And just to let you know...IMO has been successful. Especially in Korea where it has been available on normal cell phones since 2006. There wasn't a problem beta testing, tons of people were online the whole time including me.

I have found, and played pretty much

I loved parties, it was great to grind in two or three warriors. But because of lags, it was hard to maintain well cooperation.

What the hell? IMO doesn't cost any money at all, other than the price to purchase the game. No DLC, in-app purchases, etc. and I've played the game.

That's great, to know exactly what you want--the same thing, again and again.

No, get out of your dream world big boy. You were criticized for promoting your app in another game's thread. You could have just said: "gamename is actually the first mmorpg" instead of "gamename is the first mmorpg, imo is the first cutest one. gamename has blah blah, features, more features, blah blah, more crap. Check it out and buy it: link."

Again, get out of your dream world. Your game doesn't have any claim on any title. If you consider text based games fully featured then you are late. CozyQuest(exactly the same to your game, but with actual npc, items, towns, etc. artwork) and a load of million of others text-based mmorpg claimed the title before you.

Third, pretty much anyone who fully understands the concept of RPG knows it all started with MUD's. But again, you think we are living in the 80s. Well i have news for you: We are in the year 2010. TODAY, one of the main features of an MMORPG to be considered FULLY-FEAUTRED is to have an open 2d/3d world to explore and walk around freely or without restrictions. So again, your game falls to the category of text-based MMORPG and looses it's title (that it never had to begin with) of FIRST FULLY-FEATURED MMORPG to IMO. Nobody here is not telling you the game is not an RPG. Snap out of it. It is just not FULLY-FEATURED. Having quests made by players or auction houses or custom features in a text-based mmorpg don't make it Full featured if one of the main features to be considered FULL is missing. They're just extras.

A final note: In the childhood of my gaming career, I was easily distracted by surfaces and appearances. But many years after, having played everything major between Angband and Oblivion, I returned to a MUD codebase in a project to make it a visual, mobile experience. That's because I believe MUDs offer a level of complexity and immersion that no other MMO platform has ever matched. If you are like me, and you're looking for a quality world beneath the surface, then do some research on MUDs.

Aaaand we congratulate you for it and we don't caaaare. You said it. "I believe". Thats you. You can't face 99% of the people wanting a 3d game with 1% supporting a text-based game. I repeat. It's year 2010. With games like Fallout, Obvlivion, all with stunning graphics. They are pretty good RPG's that just bury text-based ones 750ft down in the ground. And i admit, i like playing text-based rpgs and there are quite in the appstored that i have and enjoy. Also, i have a Wii, and a computer from early 2004. I can't play any stunningly amazing graphic wise game. I pretty much don't care for the graphics and more for the gameplay. My brother has a PS3 and i a Wii, and we both have COD4. I played them on both consoles and while the PS version has better graphics i prefer the Wii because of it's innovative controls and gameplay.

I can' stress enough. It's year 2010. Many people, especially teens and kids, don't even like reading a book in school. Imagine if they had to read everything while playing a game. They'll just throw it to the thrash.

Right now, you are putting yourself very high in a shelf. You think your game should be in n1 in the podium because it's based of the very roots of RPGs. But you can't stop technology. Probably in 50 years or so, there will be First Person Virtual Reality MMORPGS and 2d/3d mmorpgs will no longer be considered fully-featured, and text-based ones will probably just disappear.

I grew up playing on text-based games, but i prefer realtime games with 2d or 3d worlds. Just because the game has an anime/cute styled theme doesn't mean it falls below text-based games. And gift cards are given to the beta testers because it's pretty much a part-time job. You are payed to test the game for a given ammount of time and report back bugs and give your honest opinion about it. Of course, there are slackers, but we can't do anything about it. And this very last phrase you said gives me the impression you are very offended. But it's not our fault if you leave in a world of denial. If we were having this conversation 30 years ago I'm pretty sure everyone would be saying your game is the First Fully Featured MMORPG in the appstore, but again we are living in 2010.

And I'm done with the "ranting". Finally, don't worry, i'll enjoy the first fully-featured mmorpg when it hits the appstore and I'm pretty sure everyone looking to buy it will too. Bye.

ive actually played bedlam. I dont like it. If i had to choose this or bedlam i would pay double the amount to get this. You have no idea what an rpg is. i myself dont consider a text based game to be an fully featured rpg. I think u should just get over the fact that this game destroys yours.....

I couldn't have said that because it makes absolutely no sense. No wonder you dislike text-based games--they do require a basic command of English.

If you had taken 5 minutes to play the free version of B. instead of 30 to defend IMO religiously, you'd know that any comparison with CQ is ludicrous (look up the word). And what in the world is an "actual npc" (I mean other than an unintended oximoron from a semantically challenged person).

You're assuming I don't know what year it is. You're assuming people can't wander freely in 2D in my game. Wrong on both counts.

Actually, in my estimates the ratio is about 99.95% to 0.05%. Maybe less. That's fine. I'm happy to be among the 'elite' in this case . And just to clarify, I've played many many 3D games. I just don't think that a game "has" to be 3D to be any good. Ah, now do you see the difference?

Fallout was an amazing game. What made it so rich was to a large extent a multi-branched story line that someone "wrote" and the rich textures behind the quests that were all "written" for you to "read". Or maybe all you saw was people being blown to bits.

And that is why my app is an attempt to build a MUD that a teen can get into, where they have to read less to have fun, but also see that reading unlocks their imagination. My teen players, and I do have some, take longer to get into it, but when they do, it's a life-changing event, I think. Have you done anything in your life to affect another person this way?

You're making a false comparison, or maybe you don't know what MUDs are. They are text-based but also realtime (the game pulse is 10 times per second to be exact).

It's spelled 'paid'. You don't have to tell me about slackers--I had my own beta test with 100 registrants and know all about it. The beta testers got the game free and that's fine.

That said, if you expect IMO to be free for everyone and that they can actually pull it off without subscription or in-game purchases, you're the one living in a dream world.

Learning to spell can be useful. One day, it may affect your job choices.

You should only use quotes when you're being ironic. Since you were actually ranting, you can omit them.

You have every right to be astonished at yourself. If you had spent half the time checking some very basic facts before attacking straw men and windmills, you would have ended up learning something.

But then, 99.95% of people in 2010 consider learning to be lame, so definitely avoid it by all means.

All because people see yor game as the first fully featured game i the appstore it doesnt make people want to buy it even more. I bet this will do so muhbetter then ur game anyways.
