Monster Hunter to me is all about skill. Being able to learn enemy attack patterns, knowing when to dodge, knowing where their weak points are. You can't go in there and mash the attack button and expect to win against bosses since every weapon has different attack movesets and abilities. And you have a stamina bar where you can't run around or roll around constantly so knowing when to attack, dodge, or roll is important (unless you have an item like power juice ;p). That and working with other hunters, co-op is what makes Monster Hunter really shine. With that said, this game looks interesting, but it still looks like Zenonia with some elements from Monster Hunter. With the characters, is it just stuck to one guy with 4 class options, or is it like Zenonia 2 where each class is a different character?
Zenonia 2, Inotia 3.. are nothing compared to this one. They are repetitive and I stopped playing each one of them after a few hours as I realized it will be the same quests over and over again. But Wild Frontier kept me playing it even in korean where I don't understand a thing because it's game mechanics are great! And you can't compare any iOS game to a PC game.. except some ports. So stop bitch fighting about that and enjoy a great krpg on your iphone which will entertain u for hours PS: Wild Frontier 2 is out, too.
I haven't played with any class other than warrior yet but im sure thr story is still based around the same guy. Speaking of the stamina bar, when you sprint in wild frontier it uses up your sp. You can use potions to regain some or you could wait a while and it will slowly regen. Also with bosses in wild frontier it is very very difficult to defeat them unless you know there attack patterns and have a strategy. The only other option is to be about 5 levels higher than them or more.
You guys seriously need to stop talking about 2. I hasn't even been announced for the iphone. That version you posted was the cell phone version.
Any flashy skill effects? Some really mean attack powers? Without cool skills and such I usually get bored out of my mind by these games. Oh, and by endless grinding.
Second, you cannot compare an 8/16-bit, retro-style, Korean, sprite-based, grind-fest action-RPG (obviously, that is what this is) with Monster Hunter. That is ridiculous. no grinding in monster quest of course lol... this looks fun
There is a decent sized skill tree and a lot of the skills can be charged up to deal massive damage. Some cool skills that i have are charge, shoot and and smash. Some skills stun your enemies and can even pull them in toward you (insnare shot) ill post a screen real quick
It has a pretty cool chain / combo system. Also the weather patterns can effect elemental attacks and the monsters have diffrent attack patterns. You will have to learn them for bosses or just become a human meat shield. There is some grinding in the beta version late in the game. But you will have to do it while doing subquest (which are often required to progress through the main story) and gathering to make better gear. The combat is fun so it helps with that as well. There are no giant screen clearing abilities like Gamevil games have. You can group up monsters to mass kill but you run into status effects that will make that strategy less effective.
You can only say this game is bad if the style is not what you want. If that's the case don't buy it!!! It's a brilliant JRPG and much better is almost every way than inotia 3 or zenonia 2. I'm sure lots of people will agree its better than those two.
I am also sick of people on this forum just leaving a negative comment. Like this is bad. At least back it up with some information.
Here is a short gameplay vid that i took of the first dungeon. This should help you sorta get a feel of a small part of the game. To me the dungeons are completely different than the outside world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33lnAI05jS0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Thanks for the gameplay video! I'll probably get it when it pops up in the US store (the name is live but not the page)
Thanks for the video. I'll probably pick this up. It might help with my Dungeon Raid addiction. Is the framerate as choppy as it looks in your video?
Haha no. The framerate of the game is great. I had to set the framerate down a bit for the video or the file wouldve been huge (i used display recorder by the way. Great app) i have not had any problems with lag.
What are all the weapon types to choose from? SnS, Lance, Hammer, Duels, Bow, etc... I'm all for game mechanics like the MH series. I'll be picking it up once it's released in the US.
There is one but its for cell phones. WF should be out worldwide on the 31st. WF 2 - that trailer and ad is for the cell phone version. It is not coming to the app store even in Korea yet.
