It's been awhile now since the Unreal Engine 3 was ported to iPhone and we haven't really heard anything since, are there any plans to develop games like unreal tournament for iPhone? Or a scaled down version of Red Orchestra even, so many possibilities. So far multiplayer FPS for iPhone haven't been great, there's only a couple and they have been lacking more in playability than hardware limitations, it just seems like a massively untapped market, especially now we have iPhone 4. Anyone know if anything is in the works.
The unreal engine is too expensive. You will never see it on the iDevice. Unreal Engine games would likely have to sell for at least 19.99 a piece. There is no proven market for that, so companies are unlikely to make an upfront investment on that. If Edge ever made a full-fledged Gears of War for the iPhone, for example, I couldn't imagine them selling that game for less than 29.99. Edge has no reason to believe they would sell enough copies at that price to warrant the investment that they must make on the front-end, while simply hoping for a return on their investment on the backend. No company is going to stick their neck out on the line here and be the first. Unreal Engine is a pie in the sky pipe dream. Forget about it.
You do love to repeat that argument, don't you dumaz? PocketGamer had a bit in their RumorMill about Epic releasing an iPhone version of Unreal Tournament, which Eli sort-of-kind-of confirmed here on TA. Now, that's still just a rumor, but keep in mind that Epic owns the Unreal Engine, so they wouldn't be paying for a license.
Some of you are quite clearly wasted on the internet and should be stand-up comedians, probably in Germany, funny people the Germans.
