I know you wrote this forever ago, but I just read it. Yes, this country was founded on capitalist principles, but we already have a ton of socialist ideas incorporated such as: our mail, firetrucks/ambulances, schools, etc. Who pays for that? The taxpayers pay for that. So I don't see what would be the problem with including healthcare in that list. Millions of americans die a year because healthcare costs are ridiculously high. My family isn't poor at all, but we still have to lowest form of healthcare. Also, I find it funny that some congressmen can be against this while their healthcare is completely free and paid for by our tax money.
The Post Office. Seriously? Who wants healthcare thats run like the post office? I would also ask you a similar question about congressmen. Who could be for something they themselves will not use?
is that where are the kids hang these days...'post offices' eh??? 'mailing some letters' i suppose...interesting...
Well I think I and about 40 million other americans would want it. And as to your second question, that is the most selfish thing I've ever heard. But of course it is ok for them to contradict themselves when they're against government run healthcare, but get theirs free? "I don't want a couple dollars extra tax, I'd rather have those lazy ass people die!"
well in the US, we got the turd company, the yellow one, and Fedex! Usps doesnt rreally count for packages
I have to disagree with you because you seem to be embracing a change to socialism even though foreign government run health care systems are flawed (ex. Canadians flocking to the states to avoid waiting lines). I do, however, 100% agree that Congress right now is nothing but a corrupted joke and completely failing to serve it's purpose, though I guess for the exact opposite reason as you. I think it's funny that a Congressman can try to pass the bill, which will raise premiums, even though it really doesn't even effect (affect?) them.
True, but not everyone is sold on universal healthcare. How to represent a divided electorate(btw i'm being generous on that divided thing).
I'm not embracing a change to socialism, I'm embracing improving our capitalism. I'm not for socialism, but it's really not an evil system, it's done fine in plenty of countries who are better off than us. My view is that the governments job is to take care of it's people, and for the past 8 years and even this year, the government has been selfish and absurd with money.
This poll was back in August, but I think it still pretty much applies. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/20/new-poll-77-percent-suppo_n_264375.html Also....medicare...government run.
What on earth are you talking about. Congress is not included in the current bill. Whatever happens they will still have their own system. That is the contradiction that I see. Also, you can't speak for 40 million. I am one of them and you don't speak for me.
The contradiction is that they have free healthcare and some are against free healthcare. Why is that difficult to understand? And if you don't have healthcare, why would you not want it?
I have noticed many people refering to socialism as 'bad'. Could you elaborate on why this is such an unfavorable type of government? I know one reason: The ones who are rich are apparently the ones who work the hardest. But they dont get their fair share which should be larger than everyone elses, or something along those lines.
The huffingtonpost? There are many polls out there. If you are going pick and choose your "evidence" you are not here to discuss. Congress' own actions show this not to be the case. Should I bring in a Rush Limbaugh poll since that would be in line with the evidenciary standard you use?
