If you helped with the beta, please send me an e-mail for a free final version of the app. If you guys have any questions about the app, feel free to ask in this thread and I will do my best to answer all your questions Get it in App Store
Couple questions... The thing I don't like about textfree is that when I send a message to my friend on his iPhone, it shows up as a new contact every time. Will I show up as the same contact number everytime I send out a message? Am I assigned my own number which I am reachable at (like textfree gives you a >name>@textfree.us)? Can I send texts to vanity SMS destinations (ie the recipient is a WORD instead of a phone number) Thanks
It will depend on the carrier. Unfortunately the tradeoff is that the recipient will not see your original telephone number.
The app works the same way Textfree does. So, there is no static phone number. As for vanity SMS destinations, I am not too sure what that is. Would you be able to explain what that is?
Just to warn the UK audience that these types of applications don't work in the UK (just look at the rants in the review sections of other "free sms" apps in the app store to verify that...).
Don't worry, it is not for sale in the UK App Store. It is only for sale in the US and Canada App Store. I am not sure why the other developers of the free sms apps did not do the same.
I get unlimited free texts and unlimited free phone calls on my iPhone. I don't know how or why, but I do. My top up balance is always £9.57.
You're on pay as you go? Question regarding that on O2 - they give you free data for a year - what happens after that? Just curious!
Any possibility of a lite ver? I'd really like to try this out, but have reservations that this will have same annoyances as I currently have with textfree.
Pay as you go. I have only topped up the first time, and haven't topped up since Made plenty of phone calls and texts though.
I'm confused by the following in the app description: -Receive unlimited texts for free if sender also has Unlimited SMS installed Does this mean I can't receive unlimited messages from people (who are using cell phones) on my ipod? (Like I can with textFree)
You can receive replies for free. However, people with cell phones cannot initiate a text to your iPod yet (we are working on a feature that lets you do that just like textfree).
We are working on implementing a Lite version. It will take a few weeks though until it is out in the App Store.
We are researching the ability to support beyond US and Canada. However, we don't have any ETA as to when international support will be added.
