I'm impressed by the reflections on the ground. Does anyone if those are dynamic reflections or baked reflections? In other words, does a moving object on that reflective surface cause a reflection to appear? If it's dynamic ... then wow, I'm seriously impressed they got that working on a mobile platform.
This will be released this week according to Madfinger. Pending developer release according to Apple. https://www.facebook.com/UNKILLEDgame Looks like they listened to the public and took out the energy bars/timer.
Where did you get this info from?Recently they've been saying that energy will not ruin the overall game so I highly doubt that they took it out.
I'm probably wrong then. I didn't see it in the video madfinger posted.....but when I watched another video I saw the energy bar/timer. So you're right I'm guessing. I'm still looking forward to playing it. Madfinger in my opinion perfected FPS controls for touchscreen devices.
No, they're not. They are baked. Dynamic reflections are pretty much impossible on mobile devices like the iPod 5, and that game supports the 5. The reflections are baked by making a cube map of the surroundings, and then that cubemap is used to make the surface appear reflective. So if a zombie or whatever moves next to the reflective surface, the zombie won't appear on the reflection.
I'm afraid that's not exactly correct. Or at least not in relation to what I've seen. While, yes, an iPhone 5 or iPod 5 won't have that reflection effect enabled, a build I've seen live in action on a high end current device did have the zombies, along with the environment, show up in the water reflections. Along with that, as you shoot the zombies and they react physically to the gunfire, their reflection in the water did exactly that, reflect their reaction and movement. Now, how they did it, I dunno. It's running Unity 5 and both Madfinger and Unity have substantially upped the graphics and effects. And as to what devices will run it, dunno that yet either, it might only be Nvidia Shield, it might not, but I personally would expect metal enabled devices to have those effects considering who is behind the game and the nature of the engine. Of course none of this is confirmed and not subject to final build and whatever changes occurred over development so we will have to wait until Thursday to know for sure. I'm pretty sure there is some E3 video out there, pocketgamer or appspy hands on springs to mind, where there is a level with lots of water pools where the zombie reflections can be seen. Edit. On the front page of thread, I see someone linked a couple of the vids I was remembering. Dynamic or not, I dunno, I'm no engineer, can zombie reaction to gunfire be baked in to the reflection (?), but they look fairly dynamic to me from what I've seen so far.
I think it is "kinda pulled" until the real release As i can't find it right now either.. The newest build just got reviewed by Apple approx two days ago and i still downloaded the old version from early August this noon. My build has timers, but it doesn't take long to refill and currency shenanigans look like they are player friendly. You can easily grind for money and experience in Raid levels, which get unlocked fairly quickly. And to be honest, it doesn't really feel like grind as the objectives and requirements change on each run. It plays like Dead Trigger, but progression looks like it is designed by King with one level after the other on a string. Bottom line so far, give it a try if you like Zombies and have a few minutes here and there.
LOL.. They are realtime.. You can see zombies, particles reflected there.. We have developed this effect for Dead Trigger2 and nobody have it still.. Best Marek
Hi Marek, Like i mentioned in my other post i got the early August build. The graphics look really good on my Air 2 and there seems to be more action/ more Zombies in the levels, can't put my finger on it exactly, but i really like that.
hello my favourite developer , cant wait to play this game, but one thing though, cant you please point out the main difference between this and DT, in general and specific?
You might be thinking of it in too linear a way. Think of it as a spin off, not a successor. Another game based in the same universe, more or less. If it were Dead Trigger 3, that would mean Dead Trigger 2 was legacy now and that isn't the case as far as I can tell. It does of course have many of the characteristics of the Dead Trigger format but that's not a bad thing really and it opens up a further IP for them to develop into, experiment and tailor with while keeping a format that they are very familiar with. Think of it as something akin to what Prometheus was/is to the Alien universe (the original series, not the terrible AVP ones) of films. There still could be another Alien film in the original series (sans Weaver) and the Prometeus series could easily co exist with it at the same time. Maybe even similar to The Walking Dead's Fear The Walking Dead. Think of it in a non linear way and you see the potential for both to co exist despite their obvious similarities. It simply allows for more experimentation with one of the IP's in order to better both or the other. And while they do look and behave in similar ways, they do have distinct enough differences. Probably not enough for some but it does gives the developers more leeway to experimen, test or tailor and fine tune more by having different IP's. I suppose Angry Birds and its numerous variations might be as good a comparison as one could make when talking about mobile games. Some will say they were all the same but in reality each has its own little nuances and differentiating factors to make them different enough to know which one you are playing at any given time and each case contributed to the whole of making each one better than the other in gameplay terms (differentiated from payment model). Kind of, more or less, if you know what I mean.
hey, thanks rip for jumping in with the comparison . i get what you intend to explain in your post, but still im curious about the real "differences" that separate both game. like angry birds to angry birds season or rio, i can tell the differences and their(rovio) reason to make them as a separate title. that i cannot see in this one to be honest. i have been replaying the trailer and short gameplay from youtube over and over again and all i can see is my old favourite game in its finest form (due too new effect). i really, really, really want to play dead trigger in cod zombies skins/themes. that would be awesome, coz i kinda feel boring with DT "glowing" theme. no offense to MF, i really support you guys however, but i think you really should listening to your fans sometimes. i still remember back in those days that MF become the most talented mobile developer by brought us the phenomenal shadowgun and DT when most developers still underestimate the power of mobile gaming. BUT today, it feels like those days are over for MF and they kinda feel like left behind with those tech. i dont know about their overall sales with DT, but i think these formula will be deprecated anytime soon. people will just get bored with it already. again, this is purely my opinion, not a single hate feeling from me. i really hope MF can step up in innovation once more.
I fully get what you're saying there and I guess we will have to find out on Thursday really and see how it goes. I'd agree it'll probably be the finest visual interpretation of a favourite of ours but as to what new it brings to the table, I can't really determine as yet. I'd say pay special attention to Grace's two posts above. Grace has spent a lot of time with Dead Trigger in the past (as have we) and I trust Grace's opinion and understanding of the game and it's design and enjoyment factor so would always pay special attention to those posts. As to the innovation and formula, I dunno, the current formula works and gets plenty of downloads and there are always new people with new devices wanting similar things so generally if it ain't broke and all that. Most all zombie shooters work in a very similar formula anyway really. I dunno, it's a tough market and not all innovative gambles work out too well for developers, many I could list, so it's hard for developers to break from a comfort zone. In saying that though, what I'd really love to see Madfinger do some day is pull a serious Modern Combat competitor out of the bag. An MC4 competitor, not an MC5 competitor. I'm not sure how Deadzone has done for them and it's had its ups and downs but it definitely demonstrates that they can do multiplayer and do maps extremely well and I'd seriously love it if they did it in a modern setting with contemporary weapons. I'd be all over that like white on rice. And I seriously think the market really needs someone of Madfingers calibre to step up and take a look at it because MC5 has dropped the ball of late, is very underdeveloped at this stage and has made some very bad design choices in the last two updates that distinguish it as more of a NOVA game than an MC game. It's just moved too far away from its pedigree and what gave the series its own character. The contemporary/modern/military FPS multiplayer title is up for grabs and I can think of no better studio than Madfinger to grab it. Either way though, I'll still be all over this one on Thursday as well and I am genuinely looking forward to shooting up some zombie hordes in the way I've become accustomed to with Madfinger as I always know they bring the quality and the visual "oomph" to make you step back and go wow. And a mighty cool collection of weapons too.
Yea, maybe for metal devices, but I highly doubt there are realtime reflections for devices as old as the iPhone 4s.
