The only option related to a status bar is whether to display the status bar or not. As for programming IDEs with Unity I love visual studio, but i actually use MonoDevelop which ships with Unity. I'm only taking the word of a more experienced Unity developer, but apparently there are issues in visual studio when synchronising with Unity. Whenever you build in MonoDevelop all the changes to any variables, etc, are updated in the Unity Inspector. Apparently there are frequent issues in that process if you choose to use visual studio.
Not as much of a deal breaker anymore either since Apple increased the limit to 50MB over 3G. Definitely trying out Unity for my next project.
You can choose what orientation or orientations your Unity game will work in. There are a few options for how you control this.
