I haven't played a good Xmen game since the arcade; to see a new game and a potentially epic Days of Future Past movie within one week would have put a younger me into some sort of hype induced coma... fortunately the current me is just really really excited.
Final playable character officially announced: The Scarlet Witch: In other news, the devs also announced that, among the upcoming DLC characters, there will be two flyers, one of which will be the fan-favorite STORM (called it ), whom the guys at Glitchsoft hope to make available early June! Here's the source: http://glitchsoft.com/2014/05/16/no-more-mutants-at-least-not-until-the-update/
So, to recap (correct me if I'm wrong), playable characters are: Colossus Cyclops Kitty Pryde Scarlet Witch Wolverine Coming Soon: Storm ??? (Flyer) Sounds amazing!!!!
This is a movie tie in supposed to be out by next week. Are we still at the characters teasing level??
Well, it is sort of a movie tie in. This is based on the comic, not the movie. So, the characters don't have to be in the movie (like the Scarlet Witch [though, she is not in the comic either] and Cyclops). I think this has to do with Disney/Marvel rights to comics vs FOX rights to film.
New image of an airborne Scarlet Witch in a Washington, D.C. level: Also, according to Glitchsoft's Twitter, this game will be priced 2.99$ when it comes out next Thursday!
The graphics do look generic and wooden having a plain glossiness especially in the absence of any enemies or obvious items for interaction, it's really hard to tell about the gameplay. GlitchSoft has a good track record with Star Marine and Destructopus plus it's the X-men so I'm optimistic.,.
According to a new interview, the first update will include Storm, probably Polaris and either Bishop or Magneto. The interviewee also namedropped Nightcrawler, Gambit and Deadpool as other potential additions, if there's enough demand. Here's the link: http://www.expertcomics.com/enr/2014/05/uncanny-x-men-days-of-future-past-mobile-game-interview-fpb-papercut/ This interview features a couple other interesting tidbits (including the possibility of them producing games based on other X-Men/Marvel stories if Days of Future Past is successful enough to warrant that). I'm really hoping this game is successful, because it really seems like the Glitchsoft guys are truly passionate about the property, and I'd much rather have any future Marvel game pass by their hands rather than by the devs that made X-Men Battle of the Atom or Marvel: War of Heroes...
As a lifelong comic book and video game fan, that is one of the most exciting interviews I've read in a long time. I played and enjoyed He-Man, despite having never watched the show, so I am super hopeful about this game! And the part about other Marvel heroes outside of X-Men too! Oh my goodness. I want to play an Infinity Gauntlet sidescroller. My Zen Pinball table isn't enough!
Man, Infinity Gauntlet would be PERFECT! Not only was it one of the most iconic and lasting events Marvel has ever had, it'd suit a game like DOFP is shaping up to be like a glove: a huge library of characters (the X-Men, the Avengers, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, maybe even the Guardians of the Galaxy if they prove successful with their upcoming movie), an interesting plot, a kick-ass villain... Mix in some elements from last year's Infinity event (namely the grunts and Thanos' lieutenants as bosses) and it'd be all set! Hopefully Days of Future Past will be successful enough to merit Marvel renewing their vote of confidence with Glitchsoft and allow them to further explore their properties!
^This! I hope it does well enough that we get more stuff later. And as far as the second flyer dlc, my vote is for Magneto.
Here's the official trailer: video (BTW, if any of you guys could finally let me know how to embed a YouTube video to these posts, I'd really appreciate it. I always feel like I'm bringing shame upon my dojo whenever I have to post a chummy link this way ) Anyway, there it is. The first official look at gameplay. Looks quite fun, and I expect it will play even better when more characters, with more diverse powers, get added as time goes on! Also, I'd just like to point out that, in the description for that trailer, Glitchsoft made a point of saying that this game won't feature any IAPs or a Constant Internet requirement! In a world where it seems a big name game - such as an X-Men game - can't get by without either one (or both) of those, it's extremely refreshing to see a dev stand by its word and make a game for gamers without any of those gimmicks. Let's support this decision, these devs and this game, guys!
EDIT: Gyah, can't seem to get it. I did as you suggested, undeadcow, but when I tried editing my last post in the format I saw yours, it changed nothing, it still showed the highlighted "video" word... Maybe there's something I'm missing here...
Holy moly I'm pumped for this now! The gameplay looks pretty good. The only worry left for me is the controls, but that won't stop me from Instabuying.
You're not alone. I've been scratching my head over this for a while now. I do the same as others but instead I end up posting a link for some reason. Definitely anticipating this games launch!!
To embed YouTube videos use the following tag without periods. [YouTube.]YouTubeID[/youtube.] The YouTubeID is the character string after the "v=" segment so in the case of the following URL "-8HFR1bDwUI" would be it... http://youtube.com/watch?v=-8HFR1bDwUI so to embed that video URL use [YouTube.]-8HFR1bDwUI[/youtube.] without periods. You got some sort of early release code? Spill it.
