I think if any team "deserves" to win it, it'd have to be Germany. They played a near-perfect tournament until they lost.
I admit that Brasil didn't play up to the standards they could've played at. They got complacent with that one goal, which normally, would have been fine, but Felipe Melo scored and that screwed them up. If you're playing with fire, you better be sure you're flame retardent.
A flawless qualifying campaign, 3 group wins and won all knockout rounds to the final........is not a good performance?? Wow Netherlands suck!
There was quite a lot of luck involved in winning those knockout games, and I DARE you to try to admit there wasn't.
And I dare you to admit how not losing a single match through an entire world cup campaign (finals and qualifying) is bad.
Well, if Netherlands don't win the World Cup, then New Zealand would be the only team to have gone through the World Cup undefeated.
You've got that totaly wrong. Just because they won, doesn't make them the best or most skillful team. They've been playing like utter shit and only luck has helped flow through. They are a good team but defnitely don't deserve to win.
No one's playing with fire, just going against the bias here. At least you're willing to admit that the best team ever does indeed have flaws. I also think it's quite unfair and disrespectful that because of one result people can brand the Dutch 'foulers' and 'through all because of luck', because they have been playing more consistently than most (even the Germans had a hiccup during qualifying) and have genuinely skilled players, much like Spain do. Most of the time they collapse in the quarter finals in competitions due to in-fighting, but they seem relatively unified this time.
Why didn't Dunga put Ronaldinho, Adriano, Pato, etc on the team? Maybe I get why he didn't put Ronaldo on, but why not these guys?
I have no idea. What confuses me even more is why Dunga didn't put Ronaldinho on the team after Elano went down hurt. I'm pretty sure it would have made a bigger difference, if, in the 72nd minute of the Netherlands game, instead of putting in Nilmar, Dunga had put in Ronaldinho.
Germany v Uruguay was actually really good, very open, both teams playing for pride. I almost jumped when Forlan hit the bar right at the end.
