I agree. Upcoming threads are made to build hype. Just because you don't meet deadlines doesn't mean you should just release an underdeveloped buggy piece of crap. Good luck with sales and keeping your reputation if you do that CM. I can afford to wait for this one.
I may have come across overly harsh so I apologise. I'm looking forward to the game and I am sure it will be excellent. It's just this happened with Aralon and Ravensword - we were left waiting for a while, and while the end product was good, maybe next time announce the games later into the development cycle? Still, good luck.
So it's been a few months since anyone posted in this thread, what's the status of this? Has it been canned or is it still an ongoing project? Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere but I've not been on here for a couple of months and am just revisiting the last few threads I posted in.
UltraKid has been suspended until I complete another project, and will be resumed after that ships and I take a little vacation. The multiplayer part of BattleBrats has been taking a lot longer than I expected. I put UltraKid aside because the circumstances surrounding my exit from Crescent Moon left me in a state of mind where just looking at it pissed me off. That's no state to be creating fun in, so I decided to work on something else till I was over all that. Josh and I could have banged out something crippled before I left, but we weren't getting along well and the game would have suffered for that. I secured the rights so that I could ensure UltraKid gets the love it deserves. Initially it was a 2D/3D galactic adventure game, but due to resources being allocated elsewhere it got pared down to an infinite run game toward the end. I am thinking about whether to put out the infinite runner first (or at all), or just finish the adventure game. I'd be interested in hearing what you guys think about that. The runner seems a bit trivial and silly to me, but they do seem to be fairly popular among the casual crowd, and the money from that would be very helpful in funding the rest of the adventure game. I apologize for the fustercluck and delay. I will not give a ship date other than "when it's done", but I'll bump the thread when work resumes. Thanks for hanging in there.
Wow... That's a lot to take in... I'd say just go for the full adventure game. I wouldn't mind waiting any longer than I already have.
I'd say go right for the adventure version of the game. Endless runners are all over the App Store, and I love Ratchet and Clank.
I you should go for the adventure part, 2d/3d game. Tha trailer that was released a long time ago looked great. Runners are just dull after awhile
I agree. I saw the trailer for the first time tonight and had to dig in here to get some of the story. I know first hand that in development it takes a lot to decide what to finish, start, back-burner and such. In the end regardless of how cool the original work looked (and it looked sweet) you have to make the right choice that makes the most sense (factors I am sure that are way beyond even what you shared. I appreciate your candid backstory. Good luck with the current projects as well as what you decide to do with Ultra Kid. -
No sweat about us hanging in there, the app store has plenty of games to keep us busy in the interim. But Russ, please, release this game as the full adventure experience that we started salivating over with the trailer. You must make a game faithful to that. There are plenty of endless runners in the app store, and while I certainly wouldn't mind one in the vein of UltraKid, if you do indeed decide to release one, make it's purpose to fund a better full-on UltraKid platform adventure. I don't mind waiting, I'm a patient soul, but I can not mentally afford for this platformer to become certified vaporware. You must do it justice and release it, I don't care if it takes another year and a half.
First time i've seen this trailer and it looks great, would love that game to come out. But then i read something an endless runner ? God please no, find most of those games so dull. Shame the game shown in the trailer isnt out as that game looks stunning
O.m.g wow! a dream come true..! a real nice 3D Plattformer on IOS... Amazing! take time make a Adventure..
Unanimous for the adventure game, pretty much what I thought. I don't know why I let myself be talked into that runner to begin with. Adventure game it is, then. Thanks for the understanding and encouragement. It means a lot.
Ah so this is what happened to the game! To be honest after I saw the trailer this instantly became the game I looked most forward to, and it's a real shame to hear what happened But don't stress it, I will wait for that game forever. Adventure for sure! Make this good, make it fun and make it yours! Good luck with the development!
No! D: I thought the dev said something and my inner gamer became moist but no Please tell me this is alive and breathing..
