iPhone Ultimate General: Gettysburg (by Game Labs)

Ha! Ha! Ha! ROTFL. LOL.

 

I keep hitting a bug where the battle keeps running but none of the buttons respond and I can't select any units ending up with me having to force shut down the app and restart the battle I'm up to

 

Game runs absolutely flawless on my Mini retina.. Not one hiccup so far

 

Well I've not experienced that big anymore in the past few hours of play.
Absolutely loving the game is fantastic with all the troops on screen.
I do feel a bit ripped off as I'd read the website description for the game before buying it and they talk about a dynamic campaign and extra scenarios for added replay value but now I've been browsing the forums ive found out that's not included in the iPad version and isn't planned to be included.
Overall though graphics are niceand the controls work brilliantly it's up there with battle academy for my choice of iPad strategy games.

Let's hope enough people buy it to warrant the developers consideration to add stuff for us tablet generals!!

Could be an IAP that brings the price more in line with the desktop version. I'd be more than happy with that!

 

Looks very interesting but i'll wait for the pocket tactics review at least before i make my decision.

 

Bought this one, reviews on PC and Steam are excellent

 

Fingers crossed anyway. Hopefully sales will be good as this is a brilliant game and I'd pay an IAP for a skirmish mode or something like that.
It might be my crazy mind but I can already picture this game engine with a 40k skin over it and in my head its awesome

This is pretty decent.... It's better on tablet then computer. I just enjoy the touch controls better. It like boils down to the simple strategy of the game but it's pretty cool. Only game I have ever seen that takes this angle into a war game :/ usually turn based or total RTS. I guess this could be an RTS of sorts but it's more an action strategy game... I also find it incredibly hard. I just can't seem to win lol. I'm missing something. Other then the 100,000,000 of brain cells I lost during partying years.

 

The mechanics of this game were meant to be for an iPad no doubt

 

Have you played on both devices? PC and iPad?

 

I adore this game.

 

I'm about half way through the Advanced career now. It's getting tough! Seriously outnumbered in all missions now, and it's usually more of a defensive objective but it's hard to hold your ground when the enemy comes charging at you en-masse, your guys just run away (and I don't blame them!!).

Any tips how best to use Skirmishers and Cavalry? I've been trying to get them to flank or go behind enemy batallions that are facing off against my bigger groups but it does not seem to break them.

Currently stuck on "Cavalry Raid" mission on the Union side. Playing on Normal difficulty mode.

Also, anyone successfully experimented with Fortify and Charge commands? I feel I need to use them more.

One other thing that isn't explained anywhere; has anyone got any idea what the glowing red circles you sometimes see under enemy groups feet means?

 

Really wish there was a skirmish mode in this to extend the replayability of this.
