Maybe it was the same stunt car thing that I have in my widgets :D

I also remember Turret Wars when I downloaded a demo from the Apple Website. Really bummed out that the demo version was very limited, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted. The graphics were pretty good, and it plays something like iShoot, without the movement and in 3D.

Yes Turret Wars is very similar to a 3D iShoot, but also very different.

Turret Wars is not about the long list of weapon types.. there are actually only a few weapon types in Turret Wars. Bombs, Homing missiles and Nukes.

Turrets Wars is about finding your opponents and killing them off before they find and kill you. There are bunker pickups and re-spawning enemies.

Though I have added a Turn Based mode, TW is really about fast paced hunt, target & destroy action.

TW targeting controls are very simple with two modes.

    1. You have a free look mode, where moving your finger on the screen will adjust heading and pitch, with a finger slider to adjust projectile velocity. Example below in the Lava Level...

    2. You can open up an analogue pad that allows you to increment heading, pitch, velocity in 0.5 step increments, for that super fine tweaking that is often needed for ultimate accuracy. Example below in the Alpine Level...

I may add more weapons in a future update if I think of good weapon ideas that don't just take the game to a silly level, but as it is right now, the balance is really good, and easy is easy enough for anyone to win at, and insane is, well, INSANE!

    More info to come soon....

So, while I was waiting for some important email last night (when I should have been sleeping) I decided to add some coolies to the game options screen.

You can now choose your devices landscape orientation to left or right, for those that have special sleeves that prefer playing with the home button on the Left.

The other new option I added was an Invert Y Direction, for those that prefer moving up actually rotates down. I personally don't get it, but apparently it's a flying/flight sim thing :)

Anyway, I'm getting back to it.. working on finalising the Ranks system.. once thats done I will post more about it... it rocks by the way!

The new additions look great so I can only assume what the gameplay will be like. If it's the full 3D that you see in Tankz, then this should be good.

Yeah, full 3D.. when you shoot, you follow your projectile in full 3D, so you can spy out other things on the landscape... until impact of course!

You can only shoot one projectile at a time, and each turret has a different projectile feature...

Spacemen (Blue Turrets) can destroy their projectile mid flight.
Imperials (Red Turrets) have a way more powerful payload.
Federation (Green Turrets) can nudge flight direction mid flight using tilt.
Tinmen (Silver Turrets) have a much wider radius damage blast area.

Homing missiles will lock onto closest enemy turret, or airborne enemies like bombers or drop ships.

Nukes work the same as normal projectiles, but with double the payload.

Ok, as promised, here is a look at the Ranks/Stats page.. it's fairly comprehensive :)

You have an option to clear all of your scores which will in turn reset all of your ranks.

Seem's I have turned this thread into a moment by moment dev blog of Turret Wars iPhone.

Ok, Turret Was development is finally wrapping up, so I am looking for a few beta testers that want to help do final QA on TWi before it ships.

I'm only after peeps that are really willing to test and offer bug reports.

I'm not going to use everyone that replies, so only reply if you are really willing to help.

What I need is your proper name, device model and UDID sent to me in a PM.

    Cheers :)

First external Betas went out to testers over the weekend, and feedback has been great so far!

Hopefully this will be a quick testing cycle so it can be launched as soon as possible!

Turret Wars iPhone has gone into Release Candidate Stage...

That's right! It's been a hectic testing period with lots of bugs squished and plenty of feature creep, and I am pleased to announce that TWi is now in release candidate stage. What does that mean? Well, it means that it's feature locked and we are just ironing out any last little kinks before submission to the App Store! W00t!

Here are couple of the help pages to have a look over to wet your appetites...

Ok, I finally have good news to spread.

Turret Wars final build has just been delivered to my publisher for submission.

I had been waiting on a game engine update that fixed a bug that I was not willing having in the release version. The update was delivered and the bug fixed and now we are ready to rock and roll.

Here is a video of menu options and gameplay and the link to the official Sector3 Turret Wars iPhone page.

    Cheers :)
