Why do developers release games with names that are too long for display on an iPhone/touch? A recent example is Bomber Online which shows up as Bombe...line.

No different than if touc...cade was at the top of this page, ugly!

Haha, this is one of those petty things that makes me disproportionately annoyed. I wish they'd just pick a single word or something.

Also, this probably won't be a popular opinion, especially among jailbreakers, but I also don't care for the icons that aren't kept in a standard box shape. It would be one thing if all of the icons were "cut outs", but as it is, it just looks strange to have 15 boxes and one random shape.

Not big issues by any means... but little quibbles that I'd be happy to see go away.

The answer is final fit and polish. Some people got it, some don't.

Things like this really annoy me as well. Especially the length of app names and whether they are in a box or not. Another small thing that annoys me is if the icon isn't "3D" like all the others, but that's not so bad...

yeah, I agree but at least it's 2 complete words, not some jumble of letters.

My favorite is "Midni...wling" for Midnight Bowling. Seriously, that's just weak.

Setting the name of an application (on the device) might sound simple but it isn't:
    - Apple is rejecting application names that are not close to what they appear in the app store
    - From what I know changing the name requires an update of the binary and deletes all data (saved games etc.)
    - The game and game play is the same no matter what the name is, and the icon should hopefully already identify the application
    - 11 characters is not a lot

I think the max is around 14 - I remember I have an app on my iPod Touch that exceeds 11, and isn't truncated. Oh yeah, CritterCrunch (13).

From what I know, all you have to do to change the app name is go to the info.plist file, and change the display name. I remember that Bootant breakout game (not the 3D version) changed its name to Bl....assic (or something like that), and then BClassic. My save game wasn't disturbed.

Heres one I dont understand, Midnight Pool is abbreviated Midnigh...Pool

The three dots take up more spacing than adding a T to the end of the Midnigh does.
