This is one of the best updates by far for me. Fixed a ton of issues I had with the new manuals, gave me default park/camera options, new camera options, and the new SLS park is so fun. Another little glitch I found. When you do a shove it to a slide the game registers as the opposite of what it should be. Like a shove it to nose slide will show as a shove it to tailslide.
Yeah, we need to try to remember to fix that. It breaks some missions. It used to be that if you did a 180 shove to a late kickflip, you would get a heal flip, we fixed that, but now it gets nose and tail slides reversed instead.
I made a lil vid taking advantage of the new, easier manuals. So psyched on the possibilities. http://youtu.be/8DlZ8vEJx5A The latest update rules. Hooray for remembering last park and camera angle!
Thanks for the kind words! I'm making up for lost time with another new vid entirely of the newest SLS L.A. park. http://youtu.be/GCK-w_hE-EE
I love your videos! Do you have any tips on how to do manuals? I can kinda do them but I'm still having trouble.
Why is it that in some parks like SLS Portland we can go underneath ledges/rails, but in others like the newest SLS LA we cannot? I love the ability to go underneath them as it allows for easier movement within the park and it also opens up hippie jumps as tricks!
Those are some very cool videos. I depends on how we create the collision geometry per obstacle. I think we allowed the deck to go under some very low rails in Portland, however we have always felt it makes more sense to block the board from going under things so that the camera doesn't end up intersecting rails and the board doesn't get stuck, and it feels a bit odd if you don't take your fingers off. I have considered that it may have been cool to let the board go under if you lift your fingers off the deck, however, that is not a change we can easily make because the collision geometry would have to be redone for all levels.
Not sure where I came across this idea (probably a youtube comment somewhere), but any chance of making a slider function instead of the on/off toggle for the realistic mode? So that we can decide how unrealistic/realistic the game could be. Max being the current default and the lowest being the current realistic mode. I like realistic mode, but half of the skateparks don't support it well. And the unrealistic mode feels too exaggerated. Would be a neat feature.
I second this, or a realistic mode without the slide for height and slightly higher Ollies. Slide for height is awkward at best and even more awkward now that manuals are better
The only problem with that is that it wouldn't work with leaderboards. Appart from that it is a possibility, and it a request we have heard quite a few times. We will make some adjustment to that at some point, although, I think we are more focused on other stuff for now. It is possible that some future deck customization options might change the way we think about this.
Realistic Mode! Love the latest update, True Skate is the best. I want to throw my 2 cents in on Realistic Mode - I really like the 'swipe up' for higher ollies, as it gives you a lot of control AND simulates the feeling of a real ollie. The only thing I don't like is not being able to easily do high hard flips/inward heels, due to the swiping down - which is a significant problem, I admit. I imagine the True Axis team has experimented with basing the ollie height on the speed/length of the swipe - it seems to my imagination that might be possible and still feel realistic. I'm very happy with realistic mode as it currently stands, Except I REALLY think Primos/Caspers should be a separate option to toggle On/Off. I think it is fair to say that Primos/Caspers are not everyday tricks, and that even most pro skaters are going to slam if they land a high-speed trick in a primo or casper - not pull of a high-scoring freestyle trick. I think it is a great option, and the physics are amazing - I would enjoy turning it on and playing Rodney/Daewon most definitely. In my opinion, the Primo/Casper addition has really messed up the Leaderboards, as almost all of the runs include one or more Primos/Caspers that really look like bails. I'm sure you have noticed that many times the board will land upside down and you can quickly flip it and continue the line without any trick even registering! I really appreciate the teams' efforts to incorporate these tricks, but I want to strongly encourage Realistic Mode to aim to be as close to real-life skating as possible. For me that is my highest priority for the game, and I imagine many others feel the same. And to that end, I think the line scoring on Realistic mode should not score triple/quadruple flips any higher than a double flip. I watch a lot of skate videos, and you rarely see doubles, and almost never a triple/quadruple unless someone is messing around. I envision the top realistic leaderboards to be full of awesome lines that you could imagine in real life - I want the line scoring to reflect that goal. I have no idea how feasible this suggestion is - but if you maintained the current Realistic Leaderboards under the "Primo/Casper ON" mode, and set up a third area of Realistic Leaderboards under the "Primo/Casper OFF" mode - that would probably keep everybody happy. Thanks for listening, this app has come so far and I'm super excited for new parks to shred!
I haven't really had a look at the leaderboards since the last update yet, however I believe what you are saying regardless. Just playing my self, I see a lot of caspers or primos awarded when they are not deserved. We probably need to do a good review of all the scoring at some point. I think that quad flips already don't have much score advantage of triples in a lot of cases. We've always wanted to encourage interesting lines but, in the end, probably some human judging is really needed to know what is really the best.
Hey, I really like your videos, specially these manual ones It's still tough for me to get it right. I play it with "swipe sensivity" on 100%, and I noticied it's much easier to do manuals at 0-30%. So I was wondering, where do you keep your swipe sensivity at? For when I keep it at 20-30%, manuals are easier, but every other trick gets a little bit harder. Also, which fingers do you use to play? I use my right hand, index finger on the tail and middle finger on the nose. I would really appreciate an answer. It'd help a lot.
Player Identity Issue Hey Luke, I sent the following to [email protected] and have not received a response, thought I'd try here: I upgraded my Iphone 4S to an Iphone 6. I backed up my phone to my Mac beforehand, and then restored my new phone to my old settings, which brings all my apps/settings/etc. into my new phone and makes it seamless. Except for my True Skate account... My old player name is Shanerrific and my Player # was 1005651 My new name is also Shanerrific and my new Player # is 18446631 I wish I could get my phone to play on my old account, Player 1005651. The bigger bummer is that the sharing/Kamcord thing doesn't really work anymore. I can share a video, and I can see it on my profile, but if I select any of them the screen opens up to play, but nothing happens, and the numbers at the bottom indicating the length of the play time say 0:00. When I try to watch them, the app freezes and I have to restart it. ALSO, I can't see any of the videos that I had previously saved - which is quite a few, some of which took me quite a while to finally get... So that's a bummer - I really liked being able to save and watch videos later... Think there's any way to help me? Might it help to uninstall the app and reinstall it and start over again? Appreciate your help.
