You guys are good at teasing us with new updates and 'big things coming soon' - keeping us on the edge of our seats! I like the 'turn glitches on' idea - that way you can keep making improvements (at least to realism mode) without making everyone mad. Very cool. You could even add more glitches for fun, I love taking advantage of the lipslide, 2 finger, turbo boost into huge airs myself. I know a lot of people probably care about trick detection and completing their lists, but I am only concerned about quality game play and new terrain - hard to make everyone happy! I'm intrigued by Riggy Smalls comment regarding the swipe-up in realistic mode, and the default ollie height. I know he is a ripper, so take his input seriously, although I personally don't have trouble doing a shove-it into a 50-50 on a tall ledge - I have been skating realistic mode exclusively, and finally the swiping-up thing has become natural, and I really like it so I'm concerned about losing that. I guess the distance/speed of the swipe may be enough to determine the ollie height, but that would take some getting used to. Looking forward to more news!
Sorry about that. I think we got into that habit during the run up to the big SLS reveal which we desperately wanted to talk about, but the announcement needed to be coordinated with run up to the SLS Chicargo event. Hopefully the next update will have something new for everybody.
Anyone managed to get a gold on the underpass mission "rail slide"? Edit: "rail slide" & "keep following" feel so impossible to get a gold on >.< The last jump in "keep following" just makes me want to throw my phone lol. I would get there at 100% then that jump would just screw me over
Perhaps we should consider making the 100% for missions in general a little more forgiving. There have been a lot of physics changes after the missions where created, messing with the balance a lot.
Maybe just make the longer missions 95% instead of 100% for a gold. Or all if you guys are feeling nice Also please dont plan on adding any more missions where you're suppose to bail lol Also about the enabling/disabling glitch option; Will there be restrctions when having it on? Such as not being able to earn credits? I spend most of my time on half pipes (so I earn most of my credits on them) and the only way to use them effectively/properly is by doing the diagonal push glitch. It'd be a bit disappointing if I was no longer able to earn a fair amount credits on this way.
This information needs to be included in some sort of tutorial or something, I have seen people here and on other forums not understanding this (and it's not intuitive, at least not for me). And it's so fun to haul ass and pump around bowls and pipes - looking forward to more with future updates!
The True Skate Update should be out about now. It is quite a big update! We are doing 50% off sale as well. What's New in Version 1.3.6 - New skate course: SLS 2014 Chicago - Skateboard wear. Scuff up your deck and grip! - Trick Scoring for Manuals, Primos and Caspers. - New physics for Primo catching and balancing. - Easier Manuals, and fixed nose manual bug, and improved nose manual camera. - Scoring for body spin tricks when using Spin Cam. - Unlock full gap and trick lists. - Higher skateboard graphics detail. - New leaderboard version. - View older leaderboards. - Added glitches menu to re-enabled fixed glitches. - Fixed diagonal push speed boost glitch. - Full support for new iPhone screen sizes. - Various bug fixes.
I absolutely love this update, with one exception so far. It is quite difficult to do nollie tricks as the game thinks I am trying to do nose manuals first.
Loving the update! One question: how long does it take for your skateboard to wear down? I havent noticed any differences. Some things I've noticed: -stalls sometimes register as a failed trick -the game randomly freezes for a second every once and a while
Stalls generally register as a failed trick. That was to stop some kinds of score cheating that used to happen until we properly implemented stall trick detection. It shouldn't take too long for your deck to ware down, although, it kind of depends what you do.
Absolutely loving the new manual physics tweaks. You can pull off some serious Daewon stuff now. One thing I've noticed though is, for some reason my deck graphics are always really dark, no matter what image I choose. Even a blank white image will show up as a pretty dark grey. Also, since the graphics can support a higher resolution now, would it be possible to get an updated deck template? Or would I just need to resize the old one to a higher resolution? Anyway, super excited about the update. I didn't expect it to be this huge. Thanks, Luke!
Anyone have any tips on doing & landing a casper? Edit: nvm I got thr hang of it. Any chance of reducing the friction? And almost always it says i failed the trick even though I didnt. Also, I've noticed a lot of people tearing up the reviews because they havent noticed that you can enable bugs in the options. You guys should really give them a heads up by doing an announcement thingy when the game gets booted up. Yeah I feel as if a lot of my ollies do not register
Hey Luke. I just discovered a glitch that I thought I'd point out. If you repair your skateboard, but then before exiting the options menu, go straight to change your deck graphic and then choose "No." when it asks to apply the image, when it goes back to your previous deck graphic it'll look how it was before it was repaired. This could be an issue for those that don't have too many TC points. Edit: Also, I just thought I'd add that I'd still love to eventually see that implementation of a button to quickly turn the camera to do switch and fakie tricks. Having to do a quick 180 with the spin cam right before doing the trick makes it a little hard to line up each time. Also, have you thought about letting the user drag the Spin Cam to wherever they want? You could set up boundaries so people couldn't cheat and lay it on top of the board, but it would be nice to be able to drag it around the sides and bottom of the screen. Sometimes having it directly to the left or right of the board interferes with noseslides or tailslides on smaller devices like my phone. It would be nice to just be able to move it a tad bit up or down to get it out of the way.
Thanks for lettings know about that. We have been looking into making a horizontal swipe spin the camera. Some body else just pointed out to us that this could be a problem. It kind of depends what camera is used, but I guess we should at least move the button up or down a little however I think there are plenty of other things we want to do first before making button positions fully configurable.
Hey luke, a while ago you said that you guys would consider lowering the percentage to achieve a gold medal (or making gold a bit less stressful to get). Is this still on the table? Completionist like myself would really appreciate it. I would be happy with at least a 5% drop: 95%+ gold, 80% silver, 70% bronze. Thanks!
Yeah, we just have a really huge list of things to do. If we do that, we might do it in a hidden way, so it the percentages shown don't change. I think we really need to do a bit of a shake up of the mission system though, obviously it could be better.
