I think I speak for a lot of people when I say True Skate is amazing, and I'd love more updates, but please for the love of god throw everything at JCS2 right now. I can't wait any longer! : )

True Skate Update 1.0.7 is Live.

It is just a small update this one but it has a couple nice new features.

    - Touching the ground now acts as a brake.
    - Tilting the device back before doing an ollie out of a ramp will jump back into the ramp instead. Good for airs in the bowl and on mini ramps.
    - For gyro enabled devices, tilting sideways before an ollie will affect the direction of the ollie. Good for doing sideways ollies.
    - Deck customization images are now saved, so that if you delete them from you camera roll, they will not vanish from the game.
    - Optimized deck customization to give smother graphics on iPhone4, and iPod 4th.

Thanks for the update! I absolutely love this app because of the realism. So keep the updates coming! Hopefully, new skate parks and more deck customization features will be included. It would be great if there were actual boards you can unlock besides the generic one. Or at least let us be able to place/zoom the custom images so theyll fit the deck properly. I'd also like to see boards that wear down over time and/or they'll snap when put under major pressure. Also, if a deck snaps you could turn them into a trophy so they can be collected.

BTW, anybody know where to get actual deck graphics that are in the correct resolution? It seems like I can't find one image that fits the deck correctly. If possible, I would like real skateboard graphics.

Does this update also improve performance on iPod Touch 5? I've been getting some framerate fluctuation that can be distracting, usually noticeable during jumps. I feel like this game ran more smooth on my iPhone 3GS.

Manuals are already possible. We just don't detect them as a trick, but you can defintily do them.

Very cool vid by the way. Some very clean lines there. Nice camera work and realistic two finger kick flip action.

Must have been a bit of a challenge to film if you where holding the camera while playing. We used a tripod to do all our videos. The only problem is that it is hard to realize when you are blocking the view of the camera, or if you knocked the device out of position.

The game does run smooth on the 3GS, a bit slower in iPod Touch 4th, and iPhone 4.

It runs perfectly smooth on my iPhone 4s though, which I assumed would be similar to iPod Touch 5th. It sounds like maybe we should go out and buy one and see what it is like. This is the first time I've heard anybody complain.

Manuals are possible, but you do kind of have to cheat them to work. If you're manualing on a flat surface you can only go a few feet before coming to a complete stop. They're much more plausible down a slanted ledge. Also, nosemanuals are easier on inclines, but on a flat surface, just like manuals, you'll lose momentum way faster than you should. It would be nice if there were a better system for it. It would open up a whole new world of tricks (kind of like when we got proper bluntslides). It would be nice if it actually locked into a manual (or nosemanual if your ollie was tweaked nose down) and the distance between the front and back feet controlled the balance. This would be a little bit like real life. I.E. In a manual if your front foot was too close to your back foot the nose would lift up too far and the board would slip out from under you (or just stop like how it is currently). If your front foot moves too far up the board the nose goes down and you stop manualing. This might be a little too easy to balance once you figure out the right distance so I imagine you could implement some sort of auto-sway that you have to slide your front foot up and down to adjust for. Just an idea!

Also, I've been trying the new gyro system and it's pretty awesome. It's weird going back to one handed play after doing two handed for so long, but there are definitely certain tricks that just weren't possible before. I was imagining how cool it would be to do crooks/feeble transfers, but was sad to find out the gyro system doesn't work out of grinds or slides. It would also be nice if there was a sensitivity toggle for the gyro. Sometimes it feels awkward like I'm trying to tilt my phone as much as I can to pull off a sideways trick. I'm not really sure if it's working on velocity or angle. Anyway, as usual, awesome job! Seriously. This was an awesome idea and I can't wait for the new park (even though I know it'll be a while).

I figure it may perform a little worse than the 4s because it has to support more pixels with that 4" screen. It's not choppy, it's just a noticeable but brief reduction in the framerate.

I don't want to sound like it's performing terribly, but could be smoother. I think some people would call it subtle or not notice it, but I do and it bugs me after experiencing better performance before. It almost feels like it goes into a very brief slow motion effect during some jumps. If there's any sort of optimization you can do to improve that, it'd be really great.

Thank you! I feel it's more realistic to play like that and make me feel that i'm on a real board.

Also, I find it interesting to try clean and simple tricks that I decided rather than trying the best score without truly controlling the board

Oh yeah I mostly go for real style tricks and lines, none of this tony hawk million point combo nonsense. :D
This and skate are the two best skating games to date I'd say.

It runs nice and smooth on an iPod Touch 3rd. Then menus can be a little fuzzy but it runs smother then on the 4th gen. I'd actually prefer to play on a 3Gs or 3rd Gen with the smoother graphics then then higher res on of iPhone 4 and iPod 4th Gen.

It sounds like it is also a bit slower on the 5th Gen iPod, but we probably have room to move to do something about that by turning down the graphics quality if nothing else.

I'm assuming manuals just need practice to get good at, but we have had feed back from people thinking they are not possible, so we at least should try to make them easier to start. It would make sense to make a second finger play a part. However, it sounds a little like you are letting the tail drag when you try they causing you to slow down.

That was a bit of an oversite with the gyro system not working off grinds, I assumed it would, but obviously didn't test it properly. Flipping off grinds uses a different code path to ollies.

I was considering a sensitivity option too but already took much longer on this update then was planned.

The good news is we have somebody new joining True Axis next week who has an iPod Touch 5th so we can get this fixed with out me going out to buy a new device. I was going to do that, but I've had a bit of a broken ankle for the last couple weeks.

When I say we have somebody new starting, I mean, we have somebody old returning if anybody remembers Andy Coates. He is really anal about frame rate and did a really good job helping JCS be one of a small handful of games that actually ran smoothly on the original iPhone.

We've got a good little team now. If you list all the licenses we've been involved with over the years, it sounds pretty ridiculous. They are some of the biggest licences there are. Of course, it sounds more impressive then it is, often the involvement was through mobile or handheld but some have been PC or console as well.

True Axis registered office in Melbourne, but we have a distributed team and one of us isn't actually in Melbourne.

Also, we do out source to other locations as well.

Just confirming some of the game licences the team has been involved with. It sounds much more impressive then it really is because quite a few of them are just ports or mobile/hand held games, or part of the broader franchise, and sometimes the involvement was short, but here is a list of some hints of the bigger game properties the True Axis team members have had brushes with out side of True Axis. Will let you fill in the blanks.

I can't recall when it has, but honestly it's worth the extra dollar.

Luke: I like the idea of a second finger for manuals. That would be much more realistic. I also really like how we can slightly adjust left and right in the air. Could we potentially get a similar forward and backward adjustment to make landing in ramps more realistic feeling?

Lastly, I really like this last update for being able to keep inside quarterpipes, but I hate tilting my iPad around. Could we get an option to just toggle on/off for keeping us inside quarterpipes? I almost never want to do fly outs when skating the bowls or vert ramps.

    Thanks!!
