It runs totally smooth on iPhone 3GS, I don't know how that compares, but it's pretty old so I'm just saying. A small convenience that would be nice is if the game saved which skate park you were in, so next time I start up the game I wouldn't have to keep switching back. It only takes a few seconds to switch but I thought I would mention it.
I think that a DOF effect might be a little too much for any iDevices still. One thing we should look at is upping the resolution of the fish eye effect for the iPhone 5. It might be able to handle it. I think that we didn't realise how big you could jump and fast you could flip before we had the basic physics locked down. It wasn't meant to be quite so much, but I've seen some videos of some very crazy things people can do in real life. Even so, I've often thought that if we add new decks, we could make a deck that is has a bit more gravity or something. As others have mentioned, it runs well on an iPod 3rd Gen. It stays pretty close to 60fps. It is faster then on an iPod 4th gen where it can sometimes get a little choppy because of the higher resolution. We would have to figure out how to handle the splash screen in that case. We where mostly hoping that most of the time, the game would stay in the background and people wouldn't restart that often, so it wasn't worth adding that feature.
That makes sense. I play it most often on my iPhone 3GS which is horrible at multitasking so I'm always having to reload the game and then switch parks, but like I said it only takes a few seconds.
I registered just to post this... I play this game a ton, and the one thing I wish it had most is an improved gap system. I can land just about any flip trick, so I mostly play now for the lines and landing gaps. Some kind of indication where the gaps are would be really helpful and add a lot of replayability, maybe you could add a videos in the gaps menu for each gap showing what to do like there is for each mission? The other issue with the gaps is that they seem so hit or miss. It seems like some of the gaps only register about 1 in 10 times I land them, especially the rail to rail gaps. One frustrating issue I've noticed (apart from the gaps not registering), perhaps a bug, is vert tricks not registering. It seems like when the board is spinning around the vertical axis nothing registers. It kind of defeats the point of having a half pipe. Another possible bug seems to happen on a lot of tricks added from the update. On the more obscure one's with lots of spins, there are often underscores or commas in and after the name. Maybe it's just too much work to delete all the underscores on every single combination, since there's probably so many and I probably won't land a 720 quad hardflip too many times. Apart from that, great game, super addicting and fun! Question for anyone: what is the difference between doing a 180 and a pop shove-it, or a 360 and a 360 shove it, etc?
Don't know how I haven't thought of this before but are primo grind/slides possible in the game? I haven't been able to do one so if there not here is there a possibility of them being added?
Yes primo grinds/slides are doable. YouTube a guy named milkybarkidd and look at his latest video. A few good examples on there.
Thanks for that, I found the guys video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LpWsY5PdBk&sns=em That's some crazy primo slides I'll have to practice.
hi, how/where can i get some nice pictures to customize my true skate's skateboard? id like some! id even like to try yours! ive been playing this game for months and it is great, ive just bought all iaps on it!
I have a suggestion for the deck customization, I would like it if for the grip image we could choose either the black grip overlay that is currently there, or the scuffed wood overlay that is applied to the bottom of the deck. I'm requesting this cause it seems almost pointless to customize the grip, so far my images are barely visible and the grip looks kind of sparkly in motion when using a lighter pic. I really like how custom images look on the bottom, though.
The grip tape would always have some sort of overlay, as it is grip tape, and darkslides are "affected by the tape" so having wood finish which acts grippy wouldn't fit in too well.
I know it wouldn't make sense in real life, but it's a video game. It would just be an cosmetic change, not functional. I'm not saying the behavior of the board should physically change from slidey to grippy. I doubt the little picture of tape on the board is affecting the physics of the game in the first place, that would be independent of the art and changing it wouldn't affect gameplay.
I'll think about that, but it might be a bit odd. It could actually be interesting to have an option to cut a pattern out of the grip tape, however, I think we have a lot of other things we want to do first before considering revisiting that.
Will have to think about that too. The way the controls work at the moment, as soon as you touch the board, if it is in the air, or grinding, the physics will try to rotate it onto its back or bottom. So, if you want to do a primo, you probably can't touch the board while you do it. Adding the ability to make primo's easier could make other tricks harder, but, maybe it could be good. It isn't something I've thought about a lot, but maybe I should, it might be cool. I originally decided to avoid a lot of tricks like, as well as thinks like underflips, and various things because they could get in the way of the control system too much, but maybe we could slowly work more tricks in.
