I'd just like to say thanks for the update. I can finally perform imposibles "yey" the tutorial wasn't to clear about not lifting my finger tho. (The way I did it was one swipe down to ollie and a quick swipe back up the screen, all without lifting my finger) it looks like two seperate swipes in the vid. Well either way its helped me do some new tricks so cheers.
Yeah, just looking at that again, that it is a bit hard to see there. I guess we need to add a special note to that mission. You definitely do need to keep your finger down. Probably would have already done that if it wasn't using the same text for every mission. We will have to add an option for custom text.
Not sure if it's the update or me, but finally got the hang of flipping off grinds Any specific method to accelerate the board the best? Madly swiping down the scree *should* work but often doesn't, whereas swiping as you go downhill of when turning speeds up a bit more. :/
Haven't changed flipping off grinds at all, so that must be all you. Madly swiping the screen sometimes actually slows you down, I am not too sure what the deal with that is, but it is possibly because caused by not lifting your finger high enough when you move back up, so it is registered as a reverse swipe. If you want lots of speed, go to the bowl and keep your finger held down for automatically pumping.
?? What I didn't know this another new trick, woo. It's like free content without the update that's two new things in a day.
I don't know if it's just me but I've found that I go faster if I swipe with both fingers at the same time (one on each side of the board)
I did that too! Reminds me of sitting on a skateboard and scooting along. If I ever do find my skateboard, I'll have to take some pictures, it's rather scary/dated looking, and at this point has been used more as a trolly for moving large objects than for skating (which I was never much good at. )
So, I'm pretty far behind in this thread... but has anyone else managed to transfer from the pool to the top of half pipe platform (the one with a quarter pipe each side and the rail at the back)? Because you totally can I was so damn stoked when I finally pulled it off, I love this game. I need to get a video hooked up bad because I think I have some unique tricks I'd love to show off!
Come to think if it, that might be possible, as long as you don't have a third finger on the board. We might fix that one in an update at some point. Even if we do fix that, you can alternate quickly between two fingers. This is the reason why you probably wont see races in True Skate. I can't think of a good way to make them not end up ridiculous. 2 Fingers might help, but 3 definitely wont, so you don't need to waste time with that. You will need video evidence for me to believe that one We really need to get that instant replay in there or challenge mode eventually. I'm not sure that transfer will still be possible or not after the next update. The pumping and jumping physics for the bowl has changed to make help make lip grinds work much better, although you can get much bigger air on vert now. Anyway, I am not sure when that update will be out. BTW, I absolutely hated your game FN, but that was just because I had been considering doing the same thing for a very long time I never started making because I had trouble getting past the idea that it seemed too simple. To then see it do so well on the charts, and made by fellow aussies while I was busy working on much more technically challenging stuff didn't do a lot for my motivation at the time, but, I think that kind of success needs a lot more things to go right then just the core game mechanic. I kind of found my peace with the App Store eventually, and kept targeting a more niche or hardcore audiences which I understand better. However, seeing how simple some App Store games are is what lead True Skate to be so simple on first release, although, it's a bit different, the core mechanic is quite complicated with the sacrifice of there being not much game yet, but we are working on it.
Not sure if it's intended or not, but darkslide grinds really slow down your speed. As in, you're going full throttle, darkslide, and moments later you are stationary on the bar.
This is how it should be. The top of a skateboard has grip tape which is essentially sandpaper. Not very good for sliding . That trick is actually very very rarely done in skateboarding.
...unless you're Rodney Mullen. I guess it depends on how waxed things are. I've seen darkslides in real life go from a couple of inches to several feet.
We've adjusted this for the next update, although, I think I went too far the other way now and need to pull it back a bit.
Being that I live in New York, this game is an absolute life saver seeing as I probably will not have power for another week(going on day 5 now). I LOVE this game. I'm super excited to see what you add in the future and glad you decided to start by creating a solid foundation. The game works beautifully on my iPhone 5 and iPad 2, but it's unplayable on my new iPad Mini. Anyone else having this issue? I tried restarting and reinstalling yet the frame rate is still super choppy.
I've been slacking a little bit, but here's a new video I made if anybody's interested. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xcoj9QhhRo
Nice video again I can't seem to get tail or nose grinds so easily x_x Also..again, I feel that I can't get those speeds by regularly pumping :/ maybe that's just me >.< Anyway, it seems quad heel flips and quad kick flips show up as triple triple heel/kick
