Just bought the game for my ipad 2 ..download completed going to try it out now.will leave a review soon.I have played touch grind and have heard True Skate beats touch grind if its true I am in for a treat.
Haven't played the game yet, but I can see his point to some extent. I played a few Tony Hawk games and half the fun was watching your character go flying off and break a leg or something. That said, True Skate and Touchgrind are different animals all together and the touch controls wouldn't really suit these games with a character. So I understand why it would be a poor idea here. I honestly wasn't that into Touchgrind, but with all the praise this is getting, as I mentioned in the GoTW thread, I think I may need to give it a try.
I didnt like touchgrind, but i love True Skate. That has got to mean something, which would be good for True Skate. Get it and play it. Think of it more as a toy with some decent missions and scoring system.
Same here, I loved the premise but the view killed it for me. Constantly running into objects and being forced to memorize the park layout was a hurdle I couldn't be bothered to overcome. Skating games shouldn't be memory games.
Ollie, level the board out and gently swipe diagonally down and left. If you do a varial or 360 flip, you're swiping too hard.
Pfft. Ign. Are they even relevant anymore? Console gaming ie. I know their mobile coverage is useless crap. No wonder they're getting sold off at a loss... http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/ign-for-sale-news-corp-partners-with-bank-to-aid-in-sale-of-videogame-website.452710959/
That was a bit harsh, and a little surprising after in the preview, the editor called it "Something Special". I guess the reviewer just isn't into skill based games, or wanted more of a game structure. I remember with JCS we got heaps of brilliant reviews, but the occasional rare canning, just because the game was too hard, but, that was the entire point of the game. (Although, it probably could have started a little easier to be honest) I hate the claim the flicks don't register. What can you do about people who have no dexterity?
Ign sucks people say Eli and brad reviews are broken haven't been reading ign I beat 50 bucks halo 4 gets a 10 and what did resident evil get?
Periods and commas would help. Anyways, regarding the review, I myself had no problem with the swipes registering. One question though. Will the trick recognition be improved in an update? Sometimes gets frustrating when I pull off some tricks but they don't register.
Somebody on the IGN comment thread actually recommend Touchgrind over True Skate. I think only one person on the thread had actually played True Skate and called it the best skating game ever or something. Anyway, it's probably good for you guys in a way, this kind of thing will push us to add more content in updates.
Well having played both, the only place where True Skate might be lacking compared to Touchgrind is content. However, that will probably be rectified in future updates , and all else about this game is definitely superior imo. Love the perspective, fluidity of controls, and awesome graphics that make this the best skating game on iOS right now.
Yes, we will keep trying to improve this. There is a problem when spinning through vertical rather then horizontal for flip tricks. I think this causes the most naming problems and unregistered flip tricks. It is a little tricky to fix, but for now, if you care about having your flip tricks registered, then try to flip a bit more to the side so that the board spins more through horizontal, rather then flipping straight up and over. There are also some problems registering truck grinds on ledges, and very short grinds. I do acknowledge that it can be frustrating that swipes sometimes don't register, but I am pretty certain it is because you missed, not because the game miss-detected it. It's ok to say that the precision necessary can be annoying, but when the review says that flicks don't register, it sounds like a kinect game where gestures don't register for no apparent reason, with poor feedback, where as, I think the mechanic in True Skate is the exact oppocite to that. The feed back to your motion is really accurate and satisfying.
See thats what I meant when I said the game is not for everyone. Thankfully now I get it and I love the game. But at first I was like this is it? What are you supposed to do? Its all about skill. Speaking of that it would be nice if there were an instant replay because Id love to be able to watch again when I finally pull off a sweet looking trick.
Somebody once suggested we should put a setting to control the transparency of those before we even released. I forgot about that. Still, i'm guessing there a lot of other improvements we would make first before this one.
Oh, I totally agree. I just mention things as I come across them. What, then, are your top priorities?
