It's a game on a phone, not on a computer, hence the difference in opinion. When I have time to play a game on my phone, I have the time there and then, not in an hour's time. I cannot eg go away and do something else, because I am usually sitting on a train or waiting for a film or waiting for someone or waiting for something to finish cooking or waiting for a TV program to start or sitting on the loo or whatever. When I sit down to play a PC or console game, I will dedicate an hour or more to it, otherwise it's not worth searching for and then unpacking the laptop/searching for the PS3 controllers and faffing about switching everything on. Whereas I always know where my iPhone and iPad are, they take less than a second to switch on, so it's easy to just play for 5 mins or so. Just saying it's a very different market, you can't really compare browser games to iOS games.
Alright that sounds fair. I guess I just looked at trying to complete the "Puzzle" with what I was handed and not looking for an easy way out. That spoils the whole random factor so the turns part would be more appealing to me it seems.
Well, as the biggest match-3 fan on tA (besides Lord Gek, of course), I already bought that unlimited turns IAP. Was just interested in the non-IAP system.
Yeah, you can still use the store easy enough with just your own earnings from previous games, but it still does feel a bit like the guy who is willing to spend cash on the coin IAPs, even if he can't get an unlimitedly jacked up score, will have a big advantage over those relying only on the items they can get from their hard earned in-game savings.
I am sad that the IAP went down after I got it for $7. But I love a well-constructed match-3. Wish there was stuff to unlock, discover, etc, though.
I don't see how this is really possible. First off, the biggest determinant by far is skill. There are people on the leaderboards with legit scores over 1 million, my biggest score to date is well under 100,000 (yes, I still suck ) and went nearly 400 turns just to get that far. There's a lot of turns to get to the top scores and nowhere close to enough items to do more than influence a tight spot here and there. The entire store inventory is: 4 crystals x 1500 coins@ 7 trees x 400 coins@ 7 grass x 50 coins@ 4 imperial bots x 1000 coins@ 7 bushes x 150 coins@ That's a grand total of 29 times you can use coins to influence the game yet the top scoring games are going to go several hundred turns. Then there's the realistic cost. Buying all the store items would be 14,200 coins, or about $4.25 a game - wasn't the dominant subject in this thread up until yesterday how it was nuts this game cost $7? Now somehow there are people worrying that somebody out there is going to spend over $4 each and every game to get a better score?
You got him wrong, I think. He means not the unlimited turns, he means $4.25 to buy all items per game. You need roughly 14.000 coins for that.
Either you completely misunderstood me, or you have a very inflated concept of gamer intelligence. To only need to do it once would imply that you could put in the time to become completely expert at seeing all the ways the pieces and patterns and future outcomes fit together, truly the best Triple Town player in the world. Then, once you were a Triple Town master, without ever practicing, you would magically be able to know exactly how to allocate those 29 store pieces to push your already grand master skills over the edge to take the leader boards (that have already clearly been faked to hell and back with the top score being 337 million). When you are able to use your one-time investment of $4.25 to take the leader boards, let me know (although you probably just misunderstood me, but it's more fun pretending you meant it this way)
Currently loving the game. In the store screen, what is the small text to the right of the name of each item, I cant make it out on my ipod touch. I suspect this might have something do with why Im not quite understanding the way coins work in this game. On the main screen it shows I have about 4800 coins to spend, but when i go to buy something it says Im out of coins, farm some more or buy some. Not quite sure what the 4800 refers to if it aint coins. Maybe I need better eyesight. Or an Ipad. Yes, definitely an iPad.
Please add the ability to end a game at any time. Sometimes you just have to give up and start a new board. As it stands, there's no way I see to do that other than clicking on every spot on the field.
No, you just need to play some games to know how to use the extra pieces, and then play one game with those shop pieces to boost your score. There would be no reason to buy the extra pieces over and over, if you're only trying to get one high score. I don't personally care about using purchases to get the high score, I am just saying that if you did want to do it there's no reason to spend the $4.25 more than once. If you did it several times, you'd just get similar scores each time.
For those who are not interested in the IAP: If you place crystals on the ground without making a match 3 with other tiles, they create stones. Get three stones to create an upgraded rock, then two rocks + a crystal to create a metal chest. Opening the chest gives you 2000 gold. Since 2000 gold is enough for 400 turns, and a decent game goes around 300 turns, it should be enough to sustain you. It does mess with your strategy, unfortunately, in that you have to dedicate space to crystals/stones.
i cant put this game down for some reason. i was wondering why it was free at first then it told me i ran out of moves and almost cried. the 3.99 they are asking for the unlimited moves is nothing compared to the amount of time i will spend with this game. love this game, well worth supporting the developer for polished games like this one.
Got my first Triple Castle today, which made my high score soar over the million mark. Almost in Top 20. Woot
Game Impressions Any chance we can have the game list our best local score right there in-game (i.e. not require us to login to GC just to see our current top score)?
By the time you're good enough at the game to warrant that "one, perfect high score for the ages", you'd have so many coins banked the IAP issue is irrelevant.
You also get 50,000 points for the metal chest. And I hate to break it to you, but a good game will have well over 1000 turns. My best game score was around 350,000 points and that was 1200 or so turns.
