Just got this game after reading the TA article. I read through parts of this thread (a lot of discussion on pricing, not a whole lot on the gameplay itself) but not all of it. I'm not sure if this has already been covered, but can someone answer this question: When I combine any 3 blocks, where does the newly combined block emerge? Is it random? Sometimes when I match 3 bushes, the new upgrade bush will appear somewhere I didn't expect and creates a lot of holes on my board. Any hints would be appreciated.
I am thinking about getting unlimited turns, but there is one thing that worries me. I saw you had the option to buy any (or some rather) of the tiles in the shop. Like you could buy a crystal (said 4 left, does that mean a maximum of 4 purchases per game?) for 1500 coins. To me it seems to max your score you will have to buy all of these items each game, which would cost a shitload of coins. Am i missing something here or will the guys who unload their wallets on this game always end up with a higher score?
Things you can buy are limited,so after a few playtroughs you'll have enough coins to get a good score.I been playing 2 days now and never even touched the store, just trying strategies and building up coins.Just get it,it's one of the best puzzle games i played.
a screen explaining the scoring and what converts to what would be nice. at present, I always play towards maxing my number of turns (mainly b/c I dont have the info to play for score).
After the update, I'm still earning the "Built a Camp" achievement when I score 20,000 points on every game. Anybody else?
I didn't get credit for the 50,000 point achievement after the update so I think something's not right with the achievements in general.
If this is added in, I want the tiles that haven't been discovered yet to be blacked out. I like the surprise/mystery of discovering the next step.
I just kind of assumed that the third level house was actually a chest, much like the third level church. No?
Here's a nice strategy guide plus images showing the combinations needed for different objects: http://blog.tickade.com/2012/01/06/triple-town-strategy-guide/
What do you mean by "tiles that haven't been discovered"? Been playing this steady for three days and still waiting for that 'a-ha' moment. Never have gotten above 53,000. Are people using the in-game coins to buy items? I haven't really used any of mine yet, I'm just hoarding them.
I'm really enjoying this game. Although, I hate the freemium model, I am completely happy to purchase the "unlimited turns" for $4, thus rendering it non-freemium. Can't... Stop... Playing...
Can't stop playing, either. Just as bad as Junk Jack for that 'one more go' factor. But I am REALLY BAD at this game, and I'm usually good at this sort of logic/strategy game. I bought the unlimited turns to support the devs because it IS a great game. ANy hints, tips, strategies etc would be greatly appreciated. (and I did read through the guide posted a few posts earlier).
I'm surprised at how many people cant seem to hit the 100k or higher mark.. Are you guys just building lots of trees or something? And maybe a few huts? If that's the case then that's probably why.. Trees, bushes, and huts don't give out many points, you need to combine them and make houses, mansions, etc to get the big points.. You'll Never get anywhere by just mindlessly building trees and huts.. You need to think ahead. I always build a bear cave in one of the corners, (make trees or bushes or whatever and leave 3 spaces to place bears so they stay out of the way and once you have 3 will make a church. Then use grass to extend out that area again to leave another 3 spaces, always match up churches because they turn into a chest and clear the board, your main goal should be to make moves that'll keep the most on the board cleared. It's really hard to explain how to play.. My highscore is over a million.. I was number 19 on the charts a few days ago but I've been busy with other games lately I haven't gone back.. For starters, it's going to be pretty hard to get a high score without unlocking the full purchase, it'll take weeks. Just think where you place things, remember it's always the final tile that makes a combo, where the item is placed, so I'm constantly thinking where to put my first tree in order for the last tree to line up next to a hut, to then build another hut in the exact right place to get a house. Then build another house next to it, ans by then you should have gotten a crystal or 2, I usually use crystals on mansions as when I build two mansions the gap often isn't big enough to build a 3rd mansion, so I use a crystal.. Then it'll turn into a castle, then repeat and make another castle, add a crystal and you get a beautiful floating lighthouse, 4 lighthouses make a triple tower, and that's the highest tile in the game. I haven't gotten far enough to test what happens if you make 3 or 4 triple castles next to each other, but according to the map it says "the triple tower is the highest castle in the game" so I'm assuming nothing happens.. You never know though.. But I doubt it. I've never bothered with matching stones before, or chests, would take up too much valuable room. I clear things asap and never place a tile where you won't be able to free that tile later, like don't stick a bush in between two huts with a church underneath cause you'll Never be able to free that hut unless you have a bot. There's not many tips one can give since it's all different, every board is different and the only thing you can do is use your mind to plan out a plan, don't just mindlessly place tiles, plan out a hut, another hut, and another, to make a house, 2 houses, a crystal to make a mansion, etc. Just work On that strategy whilst dumping bears in your bear pit which will keep making churches so you don't have to think about that area to much, and just concerntrate on making your triple castle! You get heaps of points for a triple castle.. Not sure of the exact amount but I'm going to play later on and record the points per each tile. Wish I could buy an extra storage space.. And bear outfits maybe even.. There's little incentive to keep playing now.. I've seen everything the game has to offer now the only reason to play would be high score but I could never compete with the jailbroken 300 mil scores so I've given up. Hope it makes enough sales to add more content cause it's one of the best puzzlers I've ever played.
Just to add a brief bit of praise to this - absolutely superb puzzler, and monstrously addictive. Well worth the IAP; I've actually bought it twice, Android and iOS... I'm not good enough to really hold a proper strategy in my head, so my scores are only slowly improving, but I'm definitely seeing some progression (mostly 40k, then mostly 50k, then mostly 60k etc.) so hopefully it'll click at some point. My only criticism would be leaderboards are pretty much pointless, given it's essentially pay-to-win. If you're spending coins (and you know what you're doing) you'll more than likely have a better game than someone who isn't. Still, not like I'd be challenging anyone's high score anyway, so it's hardly a game breaker, and if I'm just playing for my own amusement I don't have to use the store.
I achieved my highscore yesterday (200k or something). But that only because I bought a gold coins pack just to see if I could FINALLY get more than my usual 70k. I dislike the fact that the higher your gold coins are, the more points you can get and that you can't get those gold coins for free (yes I know, you can if you spare the gold for a few game, which is quite stupid though)
