I must admit that I wasn't sure I was going to like this after my first 45 minutes or so with the game. It's quite a bit different than most other TDs out there. Once I figured it out it was smooth sailing. Thanks for a great new take on the genre.
Really liking this game!!! Starts out very intuitive and the tutorial really guides you along. Nice take on the tower defense genre and adds very much it's own flavor. Well done! About a couple hours in and things move slowly at first but pick up very quickly adding challenge and I like that. The graphics and animations are smooth. Can't wait to make it further and brave the hard modes...
This game screams for MORE. Also, it is pretty tough - not a complaint, but it feels like the unit balancing needs a little tweaking.
Finally finished hard on all levels. The game is 3.5 stars. There bugs, balancing issues, ai path finding, lot of micro management and short 9 levels (not counting tutorial). Some graphical annoyances, can distracts you for couple of hours. 5 star the levels only if bored, no achievement for it.
Excellent TD. I was suprised at how hard some of the levels were. It seems others have take many approaches which may work better. Balance: Mage is too powerful mostly because the enemies are particularly vulnerable to magic. Many levels should have a type of enemy who is high resistance to magic. Also birds with magic resist would encourage more archers. Finally give archers more range. AI: I know micromanaging is a part of the game but I wouldn't mind if ranged units focussed on flying, healing, and boombox. Controls: Its very hard to select targets out of a mob. And sometimes my units still don't prioritize. Sometimes if I target my archer will stop on his way to the WP and fire once in range. Other times he will go all the way to the WP. To help with the tageting, make it so your own guys can't be selected (since there is no apparent reason to do so). Several times I have seen where the units refuse to engage. I watch 2 soldiers stand there as the whole mob walks by. I have noticed battles where some units in a pile are fighting and others are standing. And I mean where the units are practically touching the enemy units. Some piles are too hard to always notice these lazy guys. EDIT: Please for all future players. Disable the tutorials and popups on levels which have already been defeated. I went back to level 1 to get 5 stars (failed) and had to sit through the tutorial 3 times.
Sorry I'm a little late to answer questions - we're taking all the feedback into consideration. The update is still in the works but it will add more content as that is the biggest criticism we've received to date. THERE WILL BE MORE! We're squashing those bugs as fast as we can.
We're having a Winter Sale!! Expect the game update to come out at the end of January! More news on that later this week!!
The update you have so patiently waited for is on its way that will double the playable content of Tower Dwellers!! Thank you for your patience and support. It has given us the energy to make this game even better.
Pushed me over the monetary edge (and woe is me, for I haven't even half finished Kingdom Rush Frontiers, and the gaming portion of my heart is really too small for two top notch TD titles...).
Thanks guys!! Yes! In Tower Dwellers the towers do not fire anything - they work more like a barracks and based on which support structures you build towers spawn different combinations of units letting you craft your army. You can then reposition troops within a radius of the tower. It is all very well explained in this Let's Play @Joe Hills Lets Play Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
I'm gonna bite and buy, I really hope I like it because it looks really good. Edited. Oh no, I missed the sale. I thought it was gonna last for the winter, I'll have to wait til I get my next voucher, so popped it on the wish list.
Wow, I thought this was just a Kingdom Rush clone when I saw it around it's time of release but boy was a wrong. I'm really quite intruiged by this now!
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying. Yes the game plays very differently and requires much more involvement from the player compared to a regular TD.
