I made you a quick guide on how to conquer that level. (just to be clear this is an animated GIF so if its not animating refresh it)

Agreed. I left my written review and 5 stars but I don't see it. Everyone should head over. Also confused why TouchArcade hasn't mentioned its release. Maybe the Devs should ask TA to make a TA Plays. Or some other announcement.

Also I also lose sound when leaving app and returning.

We have messaged TA a week before release and again on launch. Fingers crossed they pick it up for review.

Are you on the latest v1.11? Losing that sound?

With last night being so unappealing to me (only new game released last night I got was a repackaging of Coaster Crazy, and Hatch came out in the morning), grabbed this based on the intriguing posts.

Only got to play a little, but very pleased at the polish and core design. As others have said, if you like the KR games, you will like this AND it's done differently enough that it deserves to stand alone instead of being dinged with the "KR clone" moniker. Going to wait for my iPad mini 2 to show up next week before playing more (it is more than a little tiny on the 5G touch, even more so than KR because of the need to target specific units more often), but highly recommended.

Just have collected all 55 stars (completed all levels in hard mode) and here is my another thoughts:

Almost all combined units are useless. Most of the cases you need heavy road defence to delay enemies — this is job for hi-level knights (a lot of HP and mele attack) and cover from the intouchable ground — this is job for hi-level magicans (high attack points). The only useful combined unit is "The Great Persuader" that can heal my units.

Archers are useless at all (magicans are better at all). Only case I used them were on the last two levels in hard mode to touch the boss. I think you need to rebalance their abilities (add more range attack points).

Next, in hard mode, bosses ("His Royal Evilness") on the last two levels have 240 000 HP (I thought that is devs' joke :).
On "Hexagonal Hell" level, there is the only one way to kill 'em (screen) and it takes 16 minutes!!

Level "Boss" is much-much more easier and it takes about 5 minutes to kill boss (because there are a lot of places for towers).

[Advice]: reduce boss HP to 100K on "Boss" level and to 50K on "Hexagonal Hell". Because, if you catch boss w/ two knight towers that attack him you can lock 'em to stay in one place, and this time you're spending just to watch how your troops attack boss while you can literally do nothing.

[Advice]: add more power to full upgraded chiken rainbow spell. Again, imho,
spell has too low attack damage.

[Feature request]: add Heros. I think this concept is ideally fit to TD.

    [Feature request]: add more upgrades.

Bug with sound loss is still there. To reproduce them: start any level, wait while device is autolock (black screen) and after press home button to get back to game and whoops: no sound. (iPad 2, TD 1.11).

And again: game is pretty cool,

    keep going!

I have to strongly disagree that combined units are useless. It depends entirely on the level and whether it's a 2 or 3 combo. The dudes that use one of each type are ridiculously OP. Their summoned creature is reasonably tough and does amazing damage. The guys themselves are good also.

You can beat most levels without using special spells simply by making these oneofeach dudes where possible and 2x blacksmith guys where you only get 2 building spots. 2x smith dudes are just fodder to spread the enemy out.

I played the original KR in a browser on my PC and liked it. This game is just as impressive and just different enough to be good. I feel it's a little short and unbalanced, though. Once I started maxing the "one of each" dudes the rest of the game was cake. This would be easy to fix by adding enemies with a bouncing chain lightning attack that does extra damage over 3 bounces or something similar. This would destroy the ability to stack this one kind of guy.

Other than length and balance tweaks, I have to say I'm impressed with the core game. I look forward to updates.

3/5 stars, at least I made it to the end.

Next problem, the vultures in the Gold Mine level.

I think I have played too many regular TD games in the past months as I seem to have more troubles with this one than with regular TD's. (still need to get used to the unit crafting and micromanaging)

It helps to clear other maps, get more stars for upgrade then go back to which ever map is giving you problems. That's what I did with this game. There are certain maps that are harder with out upgrading a few things first. As with KR, that is what I do too, sometimes I even reset upgrade and just upgrade whichever will be useful for that map. Enjoy! :D

This game is a challenge, and that is a big part of the design. This is certainly no 'lazy' TD game. The simple but devious level design sure plays to the micro aspect of things.

You can be lazy if you build the dudes with 1 of each type. OP.

Hey guys. We're stoked you are enjoying the game.

I do have some bad news to report... We were not selected by Apple's team for a feature on the app store. We have only had 3 solid reviews online. I don't know if its the PS4/Xbox launch that's got everyone busy but we're in trouble. Tower Dwellers looks like it is peaking in the app stores rankings and we are slowly turning into a nose-dive.

I wish we could be ok with that but there is a lot on the line, we're a small studio. We've invested much time and money and it looks like we're in for a world of hurt... If anyone has any ideas, or knows some journalists that can help us out with promotion we would greatly appreciate it.

This has been a roller coaster. This is the best game we have published in the history of the studio and it is the best received by you, the fans... but hasn't gained nearly as much publicity.

It would help if you shared your thoughts, and maybe told us how you found the game. Was it all through this forum? Or elsewhere?

    Cheers!

Unfortunately for you, strictly through the forum. Also unfortunately for you, TA's editorial staff haven't decided to give this any front page love which is where the majority of traffic to the general site comes from. It's a shame, because it's a novel iteration on the TD genre and very polished and *should* be popular with the same people who have made titles like Kingdom Rush and Field Runners into successful TD games.

Perhaps most unfortunately for you, and the negative attention it will draw, gaining some fast attention will probably require the poorly understood by the mob price slash. This will be ironic for me because one of the things that made me decide to go for the "huge" price of $3.99 with a developer I wasn't familiar with was I saw that your studio seemed to have abandoned price manipulation in the app store around the beginning of 2012. No fear of negative reprisals from me if you do feel that's the tact you have to take and I wish you luck. Hopefully it will get some traction.

Maybe try Pockettactics.com? They are Strategy nuts and should be interested in a review or feature of this game?

I did my best to promote the game on NeoGAF with a mini-review and I think some people bought it. ;)

I contacted them a week before release via Twitter - they responded providing me an email address to send the code and it has been silence since then.

Can you give us some feedback on the price? Were you off put by the price point initially?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

This is so disappointing. Tower Dwellers is so much better than most of the crap released this week.
I only heard of this game from the Upcoming thread. I left a review on the app store a couple days ago, and it still hasn't appeared (what's up with that?).

    What about Pocketgamer or 148apps?

Hmm, they have a ''Best of the Month'' feature every month and November hasn't been done yet, keeping fingers crossed!

The pricetag was fine as I noticed here there was no IAP in the game, I happily pay a price for a game without ads and IAP so it was no problem for me.

Also just made a review on the app store and gave it 5 stars, hope the game gets more exposure soon cause it deserves it.

Those sites did review our game - I am not going to link as this is touch arcade forum and I want to respect our hosts.
