The world is procedurally generated. Certain things only start appearing at certain points in your progression, etc. The game is room-by-room based so it ends up being a huge map with a randomly generated layout (layout here meaning the ways rooms connect to others, like 1-4 doors in which orientation), boss positioning, etc. Individual rooms then select groups of enemies, lasers/turrets/darkness, and roomlayouts when you enter them.

    Dungeons work the same way.

It is one really big map, and it's randomly generated.

    BACK AGAIN!

I just wanted to give you guys a huge thanks for sticking with us as we got that bug destroyed.

It was quite inspiring to come in here and, for once on the internet, not experience any horrendous flame wars or trolling.

We wrote up a little diddy on the launch thus far for the gamedev community on reddit and mentioned you guys and gals and the role you played. It's got links to some of our other coverage and (hopefully) will spur some discussion shortly.

I'm going to go dance like a crazy person tonight. I'm on the verge of tearing up and climbing atop my apartment building to yell to the mountaintops.

Thank you for helping make this launch a success. All of you. We did it!

From what I'm seeing, it seems to play a bit like a less rogue-like, more gentlemanly The Binding of Isaac. Certainly not a bad thing. I'm going to download it! Before that though, I wanted to stop by and observe that you developers have made use of an excellent marketing strategy for this group on toucharcade. I would be lying if I said reading your fun and friendly interactions with your customers on this forum didn't influence my decision to purchase your product. I applaud you, good sir!

For what it's worth: just spent some time with the update, and I honestly don't see what benefit the changes have given the controls. The suggestion to "not lift your thumbs" during play, strikes me as being a bit misguided and a sign that the devs aren't even on the right track. We lift our thumbs for a variety of valid reasons: comfort, stickiness, habit, etc. and there is simply no reason to overcomplicate matters: floating pads. Stationary pads. That's it. There are a great many dual stick shooters out there that nail the controls. Copy them.

As for changing movement direction from 360 to 8-way, it's really neither here nor there, and should be a game balance/play experience decision; not an attempted control fix.

Thanks, I completely was overlooking just how helpful dungeons are. Completing one made everything 50X easier! :)

The control changes in this patch are from midnight on launch day, as the patch was mainly a rush to fix the i5. The bigger control redo based on all this feedback will accompany the next patch, along with some more content for people to plow through.

Trust me when I say we've heard the thousand voices on this one. We're working on something intelligent.

Yo! Yeah, sadly the 1.02 patch was rushed out to get that iPhone 5 fix in. We're getting tons of feedback on the controls, but almost everyone has a different preference as to what the controls should be. Some people want them fixed, some want them floating. Some want them in the corners, some like them where they are. It seems everyone can agree on one thing though: they don't like them.

Our plan for the next patch (which we'll be wrapping up within a day or two) should hopefully alleviate everyone's concerns. Our plan is to update the in-game menu with several different control options so that each player can set it to what they prefer, and we'll update the default control scheme to be more in line with what people are used to.

Just got the update, and I'm loving the 8 directions instead of 360 degrees. I think it will be good to have more customizable controls as you mentioned. You're really fast making updates. :)

    Thanks for this quick fix!

The controls feel a bit too high in the middle of the screen though. Maybe because I am used to DSS with the controls closer to the bottom of the device. I slip off cuz of this and realize I could not play on the iPad this way. Please consider movable controls

HA HA. Did I say 6-12 hrs after Apple's notice? I did say 6-12 hrs after Apple's notice! Well, actually it was faster than you can say "Butterscotch Shenanigans". Whatever that means.

For me, on my iP5, it's now a blast to play. Damn that game is good good good.
This needs to be a big success because the devs need to do more games.
I love the Twitbird 'Jectile, btw, and his silly #hashtag comments.
This game made me laugh more than a dozen games before.

And playing on an iP5, with the controls centered at the sidebars feels completely natural after a while. I now wonder why it isn't ways like that. I played Wild Blood yesterday and had to fought some serious thumb cramps after a while. In Towelfight, my thumbs stay relaxed where they are.

edit: these mimics are a p.i.t.a.! Who told chests to grow teeth and bite you?

So from my understanding you can either buy jectiles from that blob looking thing or you can hold off and find them?

Also what is everyone's favorite jectile and why?

There are so many of them that I love. I think the Twitbird takes the award for style, the Owl gets points for how good it "feels," and the Elephant takes my personal best in show award because it seems to be my ace in the hole against those $@(#ing bats.

Since we have no GC standings yet, anyone beaten the last arena quicker than 9:08:33? Also, I've managed to beat everything except for finding all the relics. Is it possible that they are set to drop too sparingly, or are they only set to drop in specific map rooms? It's kind of a bummer to be such a tank without having seen 6 of the relics--I now have more keys than I'll ever possibly be able to use.

Also, iCloud or DropBox support for saves would be nice so I can maintain progress between i5 and iPad.

EDIT: This screen is before I collected 2 more keys.
