If GTA CTW is left out of the list, that would be insane. People tend to forget about it because it was released in January, but seriously-every GOTY list better have it Spacer Miner NOVA 2 MC 2 Land Air Sea Warfare Phoenix WrightPlants vs Zombies
if this is supposed to be the toucharcaders nominations why should only one person (you) decide half of the nominations singlehandedly?
EXACTLY what I was thinking but oh well i will nominate my own ten 1.GAME DEV STORY 2.Nova 2 3.Moder Combat 2 4.Cut the Rup 5.Angry Birds 6.Aqueduct 7.Fruit Ninja 8.Real Racing 2 9.Street Fighter 4 10.Infinity Blade 11.Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Ups i wrote eleven XD
omgomgogmogmgo forgot all about GAME DEV STORY. GAME DEV STORY WAS OBVIOUSLY THE BEST APP FOR 2010. UNIQUE, CREATIVE AND IMPOSSIBLE TO BUT DOWN.
My top-10 nominees... sorry OP, but with so many great releases this year, I couldn't justify Plants vs Zombies making it onto the list. Here's my countdown: 10. Carcassonne This one was tough... so many other great games could have squeezed into this #10 spot, but Carcassonne was just too good to pass by. Having never played the authentic board-game version before, the game's easy to understand tutorial brought me up to speed on its' rules. The game's simple to play yet devious if you don't plan your moves against an experienced player or high-level CPU opponent. This game could have easily been botched, but the high level of polish is what tipped me over on putting Carcassonne on the #10 spot. 9. Real Racing 2 With authentic cars, unbelievable graphics, tight controls and a 16-player multiplayer mode, RR2 simply could not have been left out of this year's Top 10 list of games. Where as Firemint's last offering went head-to-head in competition with NFS Shift to decide which is the better game, it's hard to imagine how any game could compete with RR2 in the near future. #9, well deserved. 8. and 7. Tie - Galaxy on Fire 2 and Aralon: Sword & Shadow Though I haven't been able to spend much time with either of these games till date, the games' sheer size, quests/missions and engaging gameplay have undoubtedly set a bar this year for other Developers who plan to put out RPG's in the future. 6. Modern Combat 2 This is the type of game that makes you believe in the future of iOS multiplayer gaming. MC2 gave us near-flawless matchmaking, minimal lag, a variety of weapons and 'perks' and a pretty decent campaign mode; what else could you want from a portable FPS? Definitely one of Gameloft's landmark releases; MC2 grabs the #6 spot. 5 and 4. Tie - Fruit Ninja & Cut the Rope Give either of these games to anyone who dislikes gaming, and you'll have them converted in 10 minutes flat. Both offer entirely simple, yet never-before-done concepts which are easy to grasp yet impossible to put down. I'm putting these at this spot because they deserve a round of applause for not re-hashing past games and keeping the gaming experience on the iPhone absolutely fresh. 3. Street Fighter IV Street Fighter. On an iPhone? With DECENT CONTROLS?! Capcom's ambition to do the never-before-done could have screwed this one up, but they really came through with flying colors. Along with regular (read: FREE) character updates just helped pushed this up to the #3 spot. Easy decision for me... 2. Game Dev Story Though this one becomes tiresome after making 5-6 award winning organizations and repeating the path to success... for some odd reason, that doesn't keep me from walking down that same path again and again. Watching icons rise from your teams' heads while they get set on fire is addictive; the progression from developing s--tty games to games with ratings of 100+ in graphics, fun-factor, sound and scenario is oddly oh-so-satisfying. This one deserves the #2 spot IMO. And the number 1 game of 2010, is.... . . . . drum roll please.......... . . . . . 1. Samurai II Shocked? Appalled? Don't be. It's unbelievable how few times this game's gotten mentioned on this thread. Not only do I believe this is the best action game of the year, but it's one of the most fun games i've ever played on an iDevice. Silky smooth frame-rates, top-notch graphics and artwork combined with bloody good controls come together beautifully into this masterpiece. It feels like an extremely well-done cat and mouse game where button mashing simply will not cut it. After playing this game for 30 minutes for the first time, I simply thought to myself, "Wow... I have a miniature Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 in my hands; how amazing is this?" Honorable Mentions: Space Miner: Space Ore Bust Tilt To Live Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Plants vs Zombies Grand Theft Auto: CTW Infinity Blade Chaos Rings NOVA 2
OMG I toltally forgot Tilt To Live ! Excelent Excelent gameeeee, Can we have Game Catergories and stuff? I will totally Vote for Tilt to Live in the Arcade and Music department is awesome and the songs are so catchy
Space Miner - just nothing else like it Chaos Rings - raised the bar for RPGs and showed other developers that original iOS specific RPGs could actually be a success. Carcasonne - great multiplayer aspect of a classic Fruit Ninja - new meaning to the casual genre Pocket Frogs - a freemium game done right - never ever a need to purchase one thing; addiction over the top; look at all the members that are posters in only the Pocket Frogs threads for evidence of its success and addictive qualities
I started this thread that provides people the opportunity to choose the best games from specific categories like you are suggesting. Strangely enough both of these threads were started at almost the exact same time and we didn't coordinate the effort.
Here are 5 to the list: Fruit Ninja Spider Man: Total Mayhem Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus Pizza Boy Mirror's Edge
